DH's Amex Hilton Biz card is up for renewal soon. Anything interesting we could do with this card? DH now has an Aspire, so I can't find a way to justify the AF on this one.

You could spend your way to a Free Weekend Night Certificate at $15k/year.

Otherwise, it’s notoriously hard to get a retention offer on the Hilton Biz. (You can call in to try asking for one before canceling.) You can’t PC the Hilton Biz or get upgrade offers to other Hilton cards on it. I think the only benefit is the relatively attainable FNC at $15k spend. With Amex’s new 4 cc cap, I’d seriously consider just canceling it to make space.

I'm reading DVC to keep up with mostly speculation - no real facts.

I also keep watching for food and wine news. Pretty sure that's gone which is why I think I should just dump most of my November trip and do something else late Nov or early December. I'm so conflicted.

When it comes down to it, a Hilton Head trip is the safest for me because of age, underlying issues such as diabetes, etc. At HH I have rooms with exterior door, yet a decent location and I can be there with almost no interaction, plus get a kitchen for meals, lots of space and usually decent weather. Can still do a studio as well, as I just bring a few appliances to make things easier as the kitchenette is designed with larger counter and away from the living sleeping area - out of sightline.
We are pretty sure that we won't be going in November either. We love the concerts at the festivals. Hoping things will be much improved and we will go end up February/early March and most likely drive down. We are also thinking about using some points at Vero before they expire if we decide not to go to WDW.

It's only been a year - do you think Amex/JealousMistress will be mad if we cancel it? DH wants to apply for a BBP soon.

It could. Canceling cards is listed as a factor that Amex considers when deciding whether you’re eligible for a welcome bonus or get the no-bonus pop up: “Based on your history with American Express welcome offers, introductory APR offers, or the number of cards you have opened and closed, you are not eligible to receive this welcome offer.”

How many Amex credit cards does DH have open currently? If 3 or fewer, he can go ahead and apply for the BBP, then cancel the Hilton Biz afterward so it doesn’t ding DH’s internal Amex score and hurt his chances in advance of applying for the BBP. If 4 or more, then the BBP will hit against the 4 credit card cap and get denied, so you’ll need to close the Hilton Biz prior or call recon to close credit cards to make space to get the BBP approved.

I think you do need to take a look at DH’s whole picture as an Amex customer. How long has he been a cardmember? How has his overall spend been? Has he opened a lot of new cards for SUBs recently? Has he closed a lot of cards after just one year? If those factors look good, particularly if he’s been spending on his Amex cards generally, he’s at less risk of the pop up. I closed both my and DW’s Hilton Biz cards after one year and neither of us got the pop up immediately after as a consequence (I still haven’t gotten the pop up. DW got the pop up recently on the elevated Brilliant offer after I let her spend slip after opening up several new cards.)

Is there still a bonus to open a Charles Schwab brokerage acct? I checked reddit but don’t see it.

Also can anyone remind me off the benefits of the Schwab platinum. I see Saks and airline credits? Is that it for credits? I thought I saw streaming mentioned somewhere? Is that not the right card?

Streaming and cell phone are temporary credits, $20/month through the end of the year.

The bonus is only for the supportee, nothing for the supporter, so probably it's not on Dischurners. I'll PM you.

Forgot to mention there is also an Uber credit for $15/month, $35 in December. Can be used for UberEats.

Is there any way to track he resort bonus on Hilton Aspire? I see the airline credit tracker but nothing for the $250 resort credit that can now be used for restaurants. If my AF posted, my anniversary calendar is reset, right? If I'm going to keep this card, I need to use all the credits.

My travel day...
I finally got a text from Delta, after 9 days of trying!!! Got my flights changed from July to December, without paying an additional 19000 miles per person!
While she was fixing those I got an email that my KTN number was assigned (did the interview Tues afternoon) so that will be great for my flight to TN on Tuesday.
And you know what a DVC member does, who now has more than full year of points sitting in 2020 use year, who can't book Aulani again until Feb does with their time? They stalk the site daily and book numerous days as they come up until the can piece together the perfect trip LOL. Originally had all 6 nights at SSR, but by end of day today, I have 5 nights at my home BWV, the last night at BLT and the last 2 at BCV until we figure out what we want to do, or till the last night at BWV comes through LOL.

Not that I know of. I just called the other day to check what mine was. I used it up last summer but it resets in July for me. Totally going to use that up in July and Aug on restaurants!

My CIP hits one year on 6/19. Should I PC it to a CIU or close it? We don't currently have a CIU and I'm not ready to apply for a new card just yet. We've been switching off and it's Dh's turn. I'm about to post on the what card thread on dischurners for help with that.

I’d PC it...earns 1.5URs on all purchases and we don’t know when Chase will loosen up on business card approvals

I agree with @palhockeymomof2. DH just did the same a few months ago. It's an easy 1.5 URs on everything and it keeps a biz card open.

Thank you both for the response. We have to call to PC right? I'm a little worried having eyes on my account, but I don't think it should be too big of an issue. Dh has a CIP hitting one year at the end of this month. Should he also PC or do we not need two CIUs?

Yes unfortunately have to call to PC.....I’d PC your husbands too since it’s a no fee card..unless he’s like my DH and no way would call and then I wind up calling as him and it’s interesting :p

Dh will call so that's not a problem. One time I called for him and totally forgot it wasn't for my card. They asked me twice if they were speaking with the right person because apparently I don't sound manly enough :confused3
