Its official: We have cancelled Ireland/Northern Ireland and also the Dubai/Africa trips this year. I think I'm most sad about not staying at Giraffe Manor, Ashford Castle and revisiting the Al Maha. It looks like we will be doing a lot of closer to home trips for the foreseeable future and I'll be living at WDW even more than usual.
Ugh...So sorry...I just love seeing the pictures..especially of the plane and reading your trip reports.
We hope to visit WDW...and our son soon but with FL not allowing NY residents without the 14 day quarantine who knows when that will happen, plus he does not want us flying and would like to come up here in July but is worried about returning to FL and how his job will react :(

That's what everyone says. Until they won't stop moving and talking. Lol DS didn't talk much until age 3, after a year of speech therapy. However, he literally does not shut up now. Even if he is playing a video game by himself or watching sports on tv he is talking and announcing the game. It drives DH nuts while WFH.

So are Walmart and Family Dollar what's left for Serve?
Not sure, there are 3 Family Dollars close to me so I usually do all 3 in a row, Walmart is further away and usually has long lines.

Has it been a year?

Seems that way, doesn't it?

Yes, I waited for the AF to post. I believe the technical anniversary was May 30 :)

NOOOOO!!! Not Giraffe Manor!!!!!!

These are actual pics of the giraffes looking around for @calypso726 and Plane Princess.

Thank you. We will plan it for some other time down the line. I’m sorry my state still has that whole quarantine thing in place for NY. I would hope it gets rolled back soon since NY seems to be doing really well!

I’m SUPER EXCITED! I just applied myself for a CIC and I didn’t get an immediate denial. I got the “we need more time” message. I’m very stubborn and refuse to give up easily on biz cards, especially since I currently only hold a CIP. When I logged in to apply I noticed there’s a new interface. Fingers crossed that I may actually get approved. It may be a great sign for all of us. I’ll keep you all posted. I’m off to check the status line 😀

Fingers crossed as that card is what I want my next one to be but I've got a plan b and c that I keep flipping back and forth between.

@Lain and @SouthFayetteFan - it's so good to see both of you posting here. I missed all the jokes, words of wisdom, and fireside chats. :goodvibes

I am so sorry you had to cancel those trips. I remember how hard you worked to get the Giraffe Manor reservations, too. 2020 just stinks as far as travel goes. I'm still really sad about having to cancel our one long trip.

I'm super duper new here and to this whole way of savings. Question #1 was the biggest eye opener for me that my husband and I should not be applying together if we want to maximize our benefits! The only downsides I've been able to see in my month at this is managing two payments/ accounts and double the annual fees. I manage the finances, so now I have to keep track of two bills instead of one, and watch the spending in two places.

Welcome. I remember thinking the same thing, but now 2 accounts sound really easy. Just wait until you have 10 or more at once. :rotfl: My DH was very reluctant to deal with it all, but the annual front-of-the-plane, lie-flat seats to Europe and back on points helped convince him.

I use a spreadsheet to keep track of bonus categories but for simplicity, I usually add a small label to the back of DHs cards (and sometimes mine) with the category bonus like Gas, Groc, Rest.

I LOVE this idea. My husband is already thrown off remembering which of his 3 to use for what. Labels would be perfect for him, and for me for those categories. Thanks for the tip!

I don’t want to burst the bubble... but this does not sound like an automated status line message. Are you referencing the message that appeared on the screen (which unfortunately means nothing) or did you call into the status line and hear 30 days or 2 weeks (which would potentially be good and provide some hope) or 7-10 days (which is what we’d expect and would indicate likely denial).

Oh sure go ahead and just burst my bubble 😂😂
I joke! I called the status line and it says I haven’t had any applications in the last 30 days sooo...either I called too soon or that’s not a good sign. But yeah I’m fully prepared for the denial. I was just really happy to not get an immediate denial. Then you ruined it 🤣🤣🤣 (jokes)

Well now that’s just a weird sign. Status line should have a status within seconds of applying 🤔 🤔

Regardless, I wish you luck! 😊

I’ve tried the status line 2x. Once immediately after applying and then probably 2hrs later. Same message “no applications in the last 30 days” I did receive an email confirmation saying “we have received your application and will let you know our decision ASAP” 🤷🏼‍♀️ figure I’ll try status line in the morning. Jokes aside I always appreciate your insight. I’ll let you guys know as soon as I know more.

I’ve seen some reports in the last few days that the Chase status line phone tree is broken. If you get approved, the card will show up in your Chase biz account; if not, you’ll get a letter. 🤞

Wow, I feel like I should check in too.

I decided to take a step back from the internet when all that's happening in the world made a lot of online discussion a bit too heated just as I was finding myself with a lot less personal time sheltering in place / wfh / homeschooling. I'm still churnin' churnin' churnin', but canceling spring and now summer trips, while planning for late 2020 - into 2021, and hoping the world will be in a better place by then. I appreciate all of you who reached out to me in the thread and privately. I’m so far behind, I’ll never catch up.
I know exactly what you mean.... nice to 'see' you. This thread is one of the few places I still visit...

Ugh....I want more Hilton Head points. I'm tired of juggling them. I need about 75 of them.

Really enjoyed our March trip in our 2 bedroom, but have decided I would like to do a one bedroom March 2021. I'll have to do a 7 month for the rest of my reservation. I started it yesterday after juggling my points to free up what Hilton Head points I had already booked with for other nights. If the one bedrooms disappear I'll move to a two bedroom as the studios will be gone by then. Should probably start with a studio and move up, as that way I'll have more nights booked. This year is so messy who knows what will be available when it's time to use 7 month points?

It is much easier to do a 2 bedroom at that time or any other time for that matter, but I have no guarantee that anyone will want to go. Could have booked a studio for 5 nights which is what I'm aiming for. Could have borrowed next years points but didn't want to as I already have BWV points borrowed into 2020.

I made myself a chart yesterday with the possibility of banking points into 2021 plus creating a Hilton Head 5 day week, keeping my January Disney trip at BCV, shortening my November trip at Boardwalk, and dumping my February reservation but still going, and staying offsite, maybe at Marriott or the house family has for a few nights.

Also, common sense tells me to buy Saratoga as they are less dues, but I'd still be juggling and at the mercy of 7 month. Hilton Head points are cheaper but the dues are more so it's a wash for a few years. I'll do some math projections on that and see what the real picture is as HH is a 2042 resort and SSR is a 2054 resort. 2042 is a cleaner deal, nothing to leave behind if I make it age 89, lol.

Meanwhile, I should sell my Vero Beach small 50 point contract. For the times I would go if I ever go again, no 11 month is needed.

SWA question:
I went to add my wife’s sister to our upcoming direct MCO flight, however the same flight says “unavailable.” I assume it’s sold out. I went ahead and booked her on a later 1-stop and now have the option to change flight for no cost, so I’ve been checking multiple times per day for about a week with no luck thus far.

Has anyone had luck stalking availability, or am I wasting my time?

This is the only thread I’ve still visited

I'm reading DVC to keep up with mostly speculation - no real facts.

I also keep watching for food and wine news. Pretty sure that's gone which is why I think I should just dump most of my November trip and do something else late Nov or early December. I'm so conflicted.

When it comes down to it, a Hilton Head trip is the safest for me because of age, underlying issues such as diabetes, etc. At HH I have rooms with exterior door, yet a decent location and I can be there with almost no interaction, plus get a kitchen for meals, lots of space and usually decent weather. Can still do a studio as well, as I just bring a few appliances to make things easier as the kitchenette is designed with larger counter and away from the living sleeping area - out of sightline.
