Geez I go to watch Phantom on TV and this thread blows up....

SFF you're scaring (and scarring) me...

I am a July baby and was born in Phoenix! Pity my mom!

There must be a Pop Tart shortage because I can't even find my beloved plain ones lately. And I cannot eat them while my 15yo is here because he will steal them from me and then there will be no Pop Tarts and I will be sad.

A neighbor owns a Video Game Bar in downtown and since they're of course closed, they are DELIVERING ALCOHOL! Husband and I tried it last night and are very pleased. If they come out of this alive, we will go visit them when they reopen.

We are going to take a socially distant ride with my husband's motorcycle drill team this morning. I am working off about.... 3.5 hours of sleep so this should be fun.

Everyone have a great Saturday! (It is Saturday, isn't it? Hard for me to tell sometimes.)

and pb+chocolate is my favorite combo....(See, not health food all the time here) I've been guilty of making pb swirl brownies weekly since our isolation started (it's been almost 6 weeks now)
I just got a new jar of peanut butter too. Good idea on the brownies, might try making some after the rice crispy treats run out. I bet some of the Reese pieces would be great thrown in there too. 😋

As far as biz apps go I applied for new CIP just this past Monday and was approved quickly. DS applied last week and his is the one that went 7-10 days to 2 weeks back to 7-10 days so I’m expecting a denial on that one. When he gets his letter I’ll post what the reason was. Both were sole proprietor.

I am not happy with British Airways. They cancelled a leg of my Male to Doha to London to Miami flight over 4 weeks ago. I called them and cancelled the entire flight. Since they cancelled I am to get a full refund on the taxes (which amounts to $869.00), the amount I paid to pre-book the seats ($169.00 x 2) and unrestricted miles back. Miles were deposited into my account immediately, the refund for booking the seats took about 2 weeks, but still no credit for the taxes. I called this morning and the CSR said there's nothing she can do -- she actually suggested that if I need the money I take a cash advance on my credit card :headache::headache:. She admitted that 4 weeks to process the credit is a long time, but said there's nothing she can do as she's working from home and there's no way to escalate it.

The issue is that I put the charge on my biz Bonvoy card and I need to cancel this card as the AF posted on April 5th. Not sure what will happen to the credit if it posts after I cancel. Off to online chat with AmEx.

Four weeks and two days for me. We got back from South Carolina on March 19th.

I actually don't consider this isolation. I can go pick up things I need. I can go outdoors into my yard or take a walk. I have television, radio and telephone plus video through computer, and the INTERNET. It's really not isolation, more like slightly restricted access.
I know.....but I consider this isolation b/c I can't spend time with family or friends right now. I'm not alone in my home... but I can't have dinner with my adult son,or my mom,or my friends,or my darling nephews and nieces. So yeah,I'm counting the days till I can hopefully see these people IRL again. I'm grateful for all the tech and zoom and stuff, but I'm counting the days. Pb brownies def. make me feel better tho :flower: as does coming here daily to see what everyone is up to churning or otherwise....

Yep, I've seen similar reports elsewhere. Virgin told me to allow 90 days to get my taxes/fees back, so I hope BA comes through for you sooner than that.

I also have a random deposit of 3,057 miles in my AA account from my closed Barclay's card. I now have 78k points. May use them to buy tickets to visit my parents in Michigan this summer if things open back up.
DH and both have OPEN Barclays cards and no miles. What??
Sigh.... well I called. can't PC to anything. She did however offer a $40 statement credit so thta's something at least,if I have to keep it another year. Hopefully I'll get some decent offers on it....
That’s better than I got. I was told no offers at all. :(
Oh c'mon - we both know how lenient Chase is with what counts towards MSR ;) ;) HAHA!!! Lots of ways to make that happen lol!

Weird situation though...this is a business card, used for business spend...so you really can't "lose your job", LOL!! It would make for an interesting conversation if you request an extension with Chase. I bet they'd grant it on a one-off basis and maybe they'll revise their position if things continue to be shutdown into May :D
You can’t lose your job but you can lose business. My biz is rental properties and I may or may not have given a sob story to an Amex rep that renters aren’t paying on time and repairs and upgrades are being put off. :rolleyes1
I searched all mail items for "offer" "extended" and found nothing like that from Chase.
I put over $2k on the card on April 8th. I wonder if the % completed played a roll in who got the extension?
I think the extension is for everyone but they didn’t send out emails to all.
It was DD20s huge sets of legos. She has always loved legos and we usually got her one of the big/expensive sets for her birthday and/or Christmas. She had a bunch of them. They all got us near close to the original purchase price and some were over on Craig's list. Crazy! We dealt with the security issue on Craig's list by using DH's business as our meeting place. But he actually said everyone he dealt with was awesome.
That is so awesome. I tried selling a bunch of games and building kits DS had last summer, including LEGOs. Used Facebook and a local ‘garage sale’ site. Managed to sell only 2, none of the Legos even though they were unopened (DS decided he is ‘over’ Legos and they are boring). Anytime I sell anything, we meet at the local police station. They allow meet ups in the lobby but they have 4 parking slots right in front so I just meet there.
Thanks everyone for the help and well wishes for my dumb cat. He did end up needing surgery and my husband was able to use his new card to pay the $2k deposit this morning without activating it, no problems. He's recovering now and they're going to keep him for another night to make sure everything is clear and that he's doing okay on pain meds and antibiotics. Apparently not only did he eat rubber bands, but also some small piece of hard black plastic that was actually causing the severe blockage. I have no idea what it could be and really want to know because I would prefer not to repeat this again. I'm thinking that when we get him back sometime tomorrow we are going to rename him "MSR" because he will have been so "helpful" in that regard! Also, RIP my new car AC and electrical house work :(
Aww poor guy, glad he is doing well. Did they give you back the piece so you can try to figure it out? Back when I worked at a vet, we always sealed the foreign objects in a clear envelope so the owner could see.

My mom had a credit after she closed the card and they just transferred to the bank account she had linked to pay.

We have a couple of similar situations. The cancelled AA flight refund is going back on a cancelled Amex business card. I called Amex and they said once they get it they would mail me a check. We also have two shows that were cancelled out of our Broadway subscriber season, Those are being refunded to a cancelled AA card. We will be expecting a check for that too. Over the years whenever I have had a credit/refund go back to a card I no longer have, I have just called the card issuer and explained the situation. They have always sent a check. It just may take a bit longer. Amex told me I'm looking at 45 days to process and 7-10 business days for the check after that.

Here's a link to relevant discussion on that:

The times might be a changin' friends...

EDIT: We definitely need more details before we panic here though!

Interesting. I applied last week for a CIP with our real small business and DH was instantly approved. Thankful I didn't apply with our other "business". I typically alternate between the two. Not good news for those starting up small businesses.

Question on the Hilton Aspire card. Do you get the weekend night in the first year or only after you renew? "Enjoy one weekend night reward with your new Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card and every year after renewal. " Reading that it seems like you get one in the first year after approval.

Planning to stay at Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki next year. Will Diamond status get me anything?

I am probably still in Amex pop-up jail so it might be wishful thinking. Just playing out different scenarios for next cards, and seeing if the benefits make it worth trying for.

Possible that there may be different offers floating out there. When we got it we got the weekend night about 9 weeks after MSR and again 10 or so weeks after the anniversary date.

The supposed change here occurred on 4/16 so while all DPs are appreciated, we may need some more recent data to truly figure out what’s going on here (ie people applying in the coming weeks).

That’s a good point. But I also wouldn’t want to ask Chase for an MSR extension stating that my business was closed or even slow for fear they’d just shutdown the card due to risk of loss. 🤣

Lol, am I safe with these?

Those are all youd. My reeses needs to have the chocolate and I don't like almonds or nuts in my candy. I also don't want anything in my brownies, not even chocolate chips though at least those I might still eat. Amd no rice crispy treats here, they are too sweet.

Raining here this morning but I'm actually looking forward to my run in the rain since there should be far fewer people out and the wind shouldn't be blowing pollen and other junk around, got so much stuff in my eyes Wed, it wasn't pleasant.

Also, last night wasn't late for me in pst and I was up at 815 this morning. Done letting Dude sleep in though, time for breakfast.

DH's 7-10 day message was on the SW Biz card yesterday. It is possible that his credit limit was too high on other cards or it is due to changes by Chase.

He's 18,000 points short of the CP after figuring in the extra 25,000. I'm trying to figure out if it is worth trying to earn those points a different way.

@Calfan Did your Rothy’s sandals arrive? How do you like them? Does the sole have padding and seem like you could do much walking in them?

I never made the rice crispy treats with peanut butter before, surprisingly it does cut the sweetness. But I’ll admit, I like the regular sweet ones even better. 😍

Part of my Boxed order arrived this morning. The Bounty paper towels and some San Pellegrino, but no wine yet. The packing slip said it's coming separately. It is 'free' 2 day shipping with a proviso that it may take 4 extra days this time. Then they added an extra $4.99 delivery area surcharge. So, counting Monday, I'm on day number 6.

I did like the package selfie that they include, so I had a heads up there was no wine in the package. For some reason I'm really looking forward to a glass of wine this weekend. So if it doesn't show, I'm doing the drive through at the local package store.
