I haven't researched this much but wondering if anyone else has experience with canceling flights booked with BA Avios on AA metal ever since the COVID mess?

Normally I am able to cancel the award flights and only loose out on the small taxes/fees but a few weeks ago i canceled 6 flights and it just directed me to request a voucher? What's up with that? The last time i canceled i had my points back in my BA account right away...not this time.

Another DP on the CIP MSR extension - approved on 3/25, tracker still shows 6/25 as the MSR date. It won't be an issue for us (big medical bill coming up), so we won't request an extension.

Our flight to NYC that was scheduled for the first weekend in April was booked with Avios on AA metal. I called the BA executive club line 800-452-1201 and asked to cancel the flights. They were cancelled and the Avios returned to my account. The agent never discussed a voucher with me.

Chase seems to be really slow processing refunds/credit. I've been waiting 2 weeks for a credit to show up. The refund was processed, I received a paper check for the part that was deposited over a year ago, and am supposed to get a credit for the part that was paid more recently. We have worked with the travel company before and I trust that she submitted the credit, but it has not shown up! Also waiting for one from UT for a ticket, I'm sure that is slow going, but it has been 2 weeks also. (Same CSR used for both)

I wonder how much depends on the vendor. I canceled a tour this week and the refund showed up pending on my CIP the same day. I was surprised. 3 days to get out of pending and I just SM'd for the refund check.

It does the same if you have Avios bookings on BA metal too. Bottom line, you have to phone if you want to avoid the voucher nonsense.

ETA: Did you mean you have already cancelled the flights and completed the voucher form? Not sure what you would do in that case.

I rarely activate my cards and never have any issues. 😊

Sorry about your cat though 😢. Hope everything works out ok!!
Thank you. That’s what I thought but wanted to be sure. I hope he’s ok too - he’s a former stray so he’s pretty resilient. The big dummy ate a couple of jumbo rubber bands when he got into the study during DH’s work meeting and was allowed to stay because of the cuteness. Most expensive Zoom pet cameo ever!
I am so sorry about your cat! Hope he is doing better!

I always activate my cards, but generic links are usually provided. Chase is just chase.com/verifycard and it asks you to log-in with your account credentials. Then it shows the last 4 digits of the card you were sent and also asks if you want to activate employee card(s) at the same time. No need for the paperwork or sticker on the card. Good luck!
I hope your cat is ok. My dog ate a swifter mop pad 3 years ago and it lodged between her stomach and intestine. It was removed but then she had pneumonia from aspirating her vomit. They also discovered that she had a heart problem during all of this. It was about $5000 at the time. I don’t think the vet even expected her to make it. The vet gives me a discount on medicine because I spend so much money. She is 14 now and really getting old for an Irish Setter. She has been an awesome dog though. I wish I had known more about credit cards and points then.

Thanks everyone for the help and well wishes for my dumb cat. He did end up needing surgery and my husband was able to use his new card to pay the $2k deposit this morning without activating it, no problems. He's recovering now and they're going to keep him for another night to make sure everything is clear and that he's doing okay on pain meds and antibiotics. Apparently not only did he eat rubber bands, but also some small piece of hard black plastic that was actually causing the severe blockage. I have no idea what it could be and really want to know because I would prefer not to repeat this again. I'm thinking that when we get him back sometime tomorrow we are going to rename him "MSR" because he will have been so "helpful" in that regard! Also, RIP my new car AC and electrical house work :(

I used both ebay and Craig's list for pricing. There is quite a robust resale market on Craig's list where we live in the SF Bay Area so that was nice. I priced on the high end since her sets were pristine with the boxes. They'd only been put together and displayed. People like to bargain so leave some wiggle room, but on some we were firm where I was confident of what they were worth. We did cash only also, BTW.
We are in the Sacramento area. I hope we are able to be as successful!

Hello all. I hope all is well with everyone. I’ve got a question about this new chase requirements. If you apply and get denied, does that hurt you? I’ve never been denied before and dw was going to apply tonight. I just don’t want to get banned or have it go against us. Thanks
I wouldn't change plans to go for a Chase Biz card just because they "may be tightening up." The only way a denial is going to hurt you is the hard pull on your credit report, which if you are under 5/24 really isn't that big of deal.

Should those 25k points be showing in our ticker already? Ours aren't.
The email said “ These adjustments will happen automatically and will be reflected in your Southwest Rapid Rewards My Account page over the coming weeks.“
On my cc statement, I just received a credit from College Board for the March SAT exam that was cancelled, then rescheduled for June, and then cancelled - indefinitely. At this point, they don't know when they will schedule another test date. For 2021 grads, colleges may need to accept applications without SAT scores.
I’ve heard that is exactly what colleges are starting to say- they’ll accept 2021 applications without scores.

This reminds me, for anyone with an insurance company doing credits, check your default payment method. With Esurance (and possibly Allstate too) they are automatically crediting your payment method on file - which is generally the last card we all had a MSR for.

I switched mine to a debit card this morning so I'll get cash back and not wreck my min spend.
Argh, fail on reading comprehension retention. I read the Esurance notice and took away last payment method on file. Actual language

"You'll receive the money electronically to the last method of payment used on your account."

D'oh :headache: Should have figured out how to use it first. Got my April refund yesterday and deducted from my MSR. Oh well, it was AmEx and I got my official MSR extension email today so plenty of time to make it up.

If we get denied can we apply right away for a personal?

Another chapter of slow churning news. In an effort to meet MSR organically on the CIP and also prepare for hurricane season coming up in a couple of months we bit the bullet and bought a new portable generator. Our last one died ... again ... at the end of the last hurricane and I'm tired of getting it repaired every season. The Alaska shopping portal was offering a 500 miles bonus that ends today and Home Depot was an extra mile per dollar. So yay!

It also appears that not only am I under 5/24 for the first time in years, I may actually stay there until the end of the year and maybe even a little beyond o_O I was fully expecting to go back full on LOL/24 in no time but current circumstances require churning plan adjustments.

What does 7-10 days mean on the approval....is that good or bad?
For DS who applied for his first CIP it’s been weird. First was 7-10 days and he got a request for more info. Faxed the info and two days later it changed to 2 weeks. I was optimistic about that but then strangely the next day it changed back to 7-10 days. I’m guessing that means a denial but does anyone have any thoughts on why it changed from 2 weeks back to 7-10 days with no changes on our end?
