What is the best Peer to Peer app to exchange money between friends (or maybe for business) that is secure, popular, and easy?
With this Stay at Home order, I'm thinking I may need to get into one of theses apps.
I guess some of the choices are PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, others? I have no experience with any of these.
What are the cool kids using these days?
Venmo is pretty ubiquitous and is very easy to use.
I’ve used PayPal for years and years ... PayPal is good to have just because it’s so old and ubiquitous.
I’ve started using Zelle a lot recently though, since I bank with Chase ... it’s so much easier with Zelle.
I love Venmo. My ex and I use it and I use it with siblings when we chip in for presents for my parents.
Cash app and Apple Pay.
I think the cool kids use Venmo. I can see my DDs activities I think because I friended them on there. I have paid or been paid by my mom, my sisters, my brother etc. I can't see their activity. Actually, if I click on them I can see who they paid or were paid, but not the amount. I think you would have to search that person out to see their stuff because I am sure I have plenty of people in my contacts that use it but I don't see them.
I just recently used Zelle ... Chase to Chase but the money was moved ... instantly.
I think it depends on what the person you are paying already has. I have Venmo, Zelle, Paypal, and Cash app.
My friend that works in the banking industry prefers to use Zelle
I use PP ... PP is free to pay friends with a linked checking acct. Only charge if you pay friends with CC.
...My daughter and most of her friends use Venmo. No issues.
I have been using PP friends and family for years, but just recently got Venmo since my 15 yo son did some yard work for neighbors ...
So I’ve read a few articles about how Zelle is not as secure as the other apps out there. BIL is in IT and doesn’t trust it...

I use Venmo as well. [Your friends can see your transactions, unless you change privacy settings]
I can see anyone in my contacts who isn’t set to private. I don’t have to search for them or “friend” them on Venmo. I even see people that I have never sent or received money from. You are correct that no amounts are shown.
DH has used Zelle in the past - also very easy.
I use PayPal and they do not have any of my bank details. They keep asking me to link a bank account - but I just ignore them and use the account for payments and receipts from RMN.
I've used PayPal for years and have always had it attached to my 'PayPal only' bank account...
....another vote for Venmo. DD and her friends use it when they travel together ... and she also used it for part of her CIP MSR.

Thank you for the tremendous response on Peer to Peer apps!
Summary of the results:
Code:
P2P App # Users Comments
Venmo 8 Your phone & Facebook contacts can see transactions (not the amount), unless you increase privacy settings
PayPal 6 Free if you use linked bank account (but not if you use a CC); hsmamato2 suggests a "PayPal-only" bank account
Zelle 5 While Zelle is quite popular in the banking industry, must have correct contact info for a known & trusted person
Cash App 2
Apple Pay 1
