What is the best Peer to Peer app to exchange money between friends (or maybe for business) that is secure, popular, and easy?
With this Stay at Home order, I'm thinking I may need to get into one of theses apps.
I guess some of the choices are PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, others? I have no experience with any of these.
What are the cool kids using these days?
Venmo is pretty ubiquitous and is very easy to use.
I’ve used PayPal for years and years ... PayPal is good to have just because it’s so old and ubiquitous.
I’ve started using Zelle a lot recently though, since I bank with Chase ... it’s so much easier with Zelle.
I love Venmo. My ex and I use it and I use it with siblings when we chip in for presents for my parents.
Cash app and Apple Pay.
I think the cool kids use Venmo. I can see my DDs activities I think because I friended them on there. I have paid or been paid by my mom, my sisters, my brother etc. I can't see their activity. Actually, if I click on them I can see who they paid or were paid, but not the amount. I think you would have to search that person out to see their stuff because I am sure I have plenty of people in my contacts that use it but I don't see them.
I just recently used Zelle ... Chase to Chase but the money was moved ... instantly.
I think it depends on what the person you are paying already has. I have Venmo, Zelle, Paypal, and Cash app.
My friend that works in the banking industry prefers to use Zelle
I use PP ... PP is free to pay friends with a linked checking acct. Only charge if you pay friends with CC.
...My daughter and most of her friends use Venmo. No issues.
I have been using PP friends and family for years, but just recently got Venmo since my 15 yo son did some yard work for neighbors ...
So I’ve read a few articles about how Zelle is not as secure as the other apps out there. BIL is in IT and doesn’t trust it...
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/22/business/zelle-banks-fraud.html
I use Venmo as well. [Your friends can see your transactions, unless you change privacy settings]
I can see anyone in my contacts who isn’t set to private. I don’t have to search for them or “friend” them on Venmo. I even see people that I have never sent or received money from. You are correct that no amounts are shown.
DH has used Zelle in the past - also very easy.
I use PayPal and they do not have any of my bank details. They keep asking me to link a bank account - but I just ignore them and use the account for payments and receipts from RMN.
I've used PayPal for years and have always had it attached to my 'PayPal only' bank account...
...another vote for Venmo. DD and her friends use it when they travel together ... and she also used it for part of her CIP MSR.

Thank you for the tremendous response on Peer to Peer apps!

Summary of the results
:
Code:
P2P App # Users Comments
Venmo 8 Your phone & Facebook contacts can see transactions (not the amount), unless you increase privacy settings
PayPal 6 Free if you use linked bank account (but not if you use a CC); hsmamato2 suggests a "PayPal-only" bank account
Zelle 5 While Zelle is quite popular in the banking industry, must have correct contact info for a known & trusted person
Cash App 2
Apple Pay 1
These are only for exchanges with known & trusted peers, and don't carry credit card safeguards (see CyndiLouWho's article link)

Stimulus money showing in accounts for my 2 DD's - older has 2 kids, younger makes under 99k. Me = zero.

My mom and I were talking about how they are doing it and if it's based last name. Nothing in my acct yet. Surprised they have it, I didn't think anything was going out until next week.

@afan I went searching through my Comcast account earlier and couldn’t find anything about limited or unlimited internet. I did see we are using a ton of data. Already more in the last 11 days than all of January or February. And now it has crashed. I swear it is because I was looking at my account. Grrrrr. With 4 people doing school and work from home can’t really survive without it.

Wow really? Nothing in dd or ds accounts. I know mine won’t be here for awhile because I haven’t gotten a refund in years. Not sure if ds got one last year or not. I am still nervous that dd won’t get one.

This is what mine looks like.

I spent real money to buy a pair of Nike's in either Nov or January while at Disney. Love them and they were approx. $75ish. Then daughter shows up with a pair of black Puma's and asked me if they would fit. Too small for her. Brand new from Costco marked down to $10. Fit me like a glove and very comfortable. Plus, getting compliments when I wore them. They make my feet look smaller. At least to me - I am an 8 and 1/2 or 9 depending on shoe.
I regularly get my ASICS for $30-40 which I think is pretty good for new running shoes. Plus I love all of the bright colors to choose from

I don't think I've bought shoes in a store in ages. I use shoes.com, nordstrom, Dick's sporting goods, Nike, Amazon, etc. Most of them do free return shipping. So you could buy a few pairs and return what doesn't work.
I get all of my shoes from amazon. I mostly only buy ASICS so I know my size in them
I buy shoes on Amazon all the time. Most of them are free Prime Shipping and free returns. I buy a bunch, and send back what doesn't fit or work.

I am spending less in general, I think. But oh my word, the dang grocery bill seems just insane!
I'll have to have dd look at the sneaker options to see if there's anything that looks like what she likes. I've bought boots from amazon (and returned several until I found the right ones) but she hasn't yet.
Perfect! We'll wait until this is all over or when we're about to run out of peanuts for the squirrels to go to Costco :) Have any of you that have been going to Costco noticed if the optical part is open? I've still got a few weeks but I'm going to need to order contacts and would prefer to use my new insurance for it so I don't want to do it online. And really when I say a few weeks I mean over a month I just like to order when I open my last 30 day box and I just opened the 2nd of 3 boxes.
When I was at Costco last week there was a person in the optical section.
Put some more spend on the CIP today! Got all our fruit trees - apples, peaches, and nectarines - along with all the vegetable plants for our garden. Next up, a lot of mulch and garden soil, along with playsand for our above ground pool area. Slowly but surely chipping away at this MSR!
No MSR to work on, but I have 100 bags of pine bark nuggets being delivered on Tuesday from Home Depot :rotfl: My bitty tomato seedlings are growing in the dining room. I bought seed packets in mid-March figuring they could be difficult to find later on (and my sister-in-law can't find any now)

I didn’t get mine, either. I can’t say I’m upset, though. I’m just happy to be getting something since for a while, they planned to exclude anyone using the foreign income tax credit. (I assume that’s because you could be making over the $99K limit, end up with a US tax liability of next to nothing & therefore receive a $1200 payment, but the point is that you are eligible for that credit because you already paid foreign tax on your salary.) Japan’s stimulus package is much less generous to private citizens & we aren’t eligible for that one anyway.

It's showing how much but funds are not available until April 15th. They can see it but not use it. Same as my DOD deposit and state pension - they show a few days before they become available.

Just the amex offers and the 35k point certificate. I'm probably canceling mine in the next few weeks mainly because the certificate is kind of worthless to me with Marriott's new peak pricing.
I am trying to decide whether to keep mine too. When does the free night certificate become available?

Rebooked our anniversary trip for the end of August. Not an ideal time of year by any stretch, but really the only time that would work for us. We got the ddp (it was an additional night plus the dining upgrade for $200 more than we had originally booked so I’m calling it a win.) Any suggestions for table service with a one year old? I don’t know if I want to deal with a buffet with an infant, but also think I would prefer being in charge of when we get the food, if that makes sense. I want to get all my adrs done before Monday.
