Received an email from department chair about all the work we have to do to transition our university courses to online delivery, try to prevent the spread, be flexible, etc. My favorite line "We are very fortunate to have the option to work remotely and still get paid...please record each day as 8 hours (annual leave) if you choose to work remotely during the coming week." So, we still have to do all the work, but also use leave time if we do it while working remotely. :confused3 Isn't that illegal??
Wait, what, that makes no sense?!? So, work but use vacation? I think that would be illegal. I know they don't have to pay in these situations but why would you work and use leave?

Got a notice earlier from dd's school about how online school will work. She will have several classes "online" with teacher interaction and participation, with assignments and assessments as usual (even told to wear an appropriate shirt -- doesn't have to be a uniform shirt). Except her desk is in the loft (open to downstairs), not too far from my desk (also in the open). She needs silence to work and I talk on the phone most of the day (though I expect I won't be busy the next few weeks). This is not going to be fun. I may move my 'office' during the day to the den, where I can shut the doors to help stifle my voice.
My ds11 does online math. He uses headphones. Sometimes he keeps them on even for other subjects simply cause my ds8 is severely dyslexic so I spend a lot of time talking through his lessons. I also set up his desk facing a wall. He gets distracted by everything otherwise!

What does this mean!?! I can't get a response from the people we've used for refi's twice before.
You care more about the 10-year rate if you're looking for a fixed-rate mortgage.

Refis are very backed up from what I hear. I'm at 3.5% on a 30-year fixed but not bothering even looking for another few months.

Prime is important for a lot of consumer loans (including credit card APRs) though.

Worked online for me. My flights were in March and April. Originally it tried to charge me a fee a couple days ago but then they fixed that and there was no charge mentioned online.
Thank you thank you! Easy peasy, and probably unethical, but, I just rebooked my mileage flights for April (that I am 90% sure is never going to happen at this point) and our July trip that I just booked this week, and saved 31000 miles total!!

We are swamped with refis, but oddly rates skyrocketed late Thursday and Friday. We expect them to drop major again though. We are doing 45 day locks, and currently still closing them within about a month total.

You have the same rate as me. I guess I'll just sit tight.

So I spoke to my mom today who was watching a tennis match but assured me she was keeping her distance from others. She mentioned the UK quarantining seniors. I didn't know what she was talking about. Now I see they have a strict quarantine for those over 70 for 4 months. I get it. My mom has what my sister calls the opposite of agoraphobia. Hoping we don't get to that point. Can't imagine how lonely many seniors would be.

Just realized that would include Trump, Biden, and Sanders:)

Are 20 year mortgages a thing?

I’m not sure I’m the right person to refi- I live in PA which apparently has high fees, and I’d really like to buy a bigger house soon. Like in the next 1-2 years. But inventory here is severely limited and houses sell in hours, so that might not happen.

We’re at 4.125% and 6.5 years into a 30 year. I don’t want to refi to another 30 year, but a 15 is pushing it with our current daycare costs.

So, finally made a plan to get my dd home. I'm flying down on Tuesday morning and getting her packed up with the help of my wonderful aunt and uncle who were down there visiting her when the news broke that the DCP was ending for now. They extended their trip to help her.

I rented a van and will plan to leave Wednesday morning driving back to CO. It's a 26-hr drive. It'll just be me and dd. I need to figure out what the route looks like and where we can stay. I'm a little worried cause she is not able to drive the rental car and I'm not really a long distance driver (my dh always drives on road trips and I just provide the chatter to keep him awake lol).

Yes, I've had one. Rate is often close to a 30-year. You can get a 30-year and pre-pay so it would be paid off in 23.5 years. That's what I'd do if I refinance since I'm not quite comfortable with the payment on a 15-year since I'm a one-income household but I wouldn't want to start over.

Oh, gosh. That's such a long drive. Are you thinking 4 days? And how nice of your Aunt and Uncle to help her:)

Oh my! My best advice is take your time. Hopefully there won’t be a lot of people on the roads so the traffics won’t be as bad.

I booked the van for 4 days lol. Probably way more than we need but I just cannot drive 12 hours a day. Plus I pick it up Tuesday but we don't leave til Wednesday so really only 3 driving days and that is 8-9 hours each day. I'd rather not drive at night. I have 20/20 day vision and I'm blind as a bat at night :rotfl:

Three driving days...I'm nervous but I really have no other option. My dh cannot get away from work. He is the IT director for a college and they are trying to figure out how to get everyone taking their classes from home.

Yes, so thankful they were there to support her.

Watching live stream of Castle fireworks and I'm so sad. I'm sorry guys. I bought APs this year. But, hey, at least this one will come back eventually.

I tried to do the CIP/Plastiq for mortgage and I think I got one payment through before that shut down.
I got into the Southwest CP game and they raised the points required.
I tried to play with a certain airline and then that blew up.

I know there's more. I'll go hide in the corner now and try not to make any moves for awhile lol

This was our first year with APs and my dd finally got into the dcp so I won’t let you take all the blame. Pretty sure I bear some responsibility 🤣

Just woke up to see that our district did, in fact, decide to remain closed for one extra week (through March 27).

My ex informs me that the kids are happy :sad2: *sigh*

We just got our tax refund direct deposited. I will of course make my usual bill payments as planned... I didn't have specific plans for the refund amount but I am thinking I should just sit tight on it for a little while and eliminate any "extra" spending for now...
