When can we talk about churning again? ...asking for a friend.

Ok, ok, fine. Let's see... I see a boatload of Flying Blue, Marriott and Hyatt points coming our way if we can't take our cruise this summer. And DH already met the MSR on his Aspire even though we weren't trying at all. And I promise you, none of that was spent on TP.

Here's another thought - just image the possibilities if Costco was going for 5x on the CF this quarter. Such a lost opportunity...

Well... in “good” news, it seems that COVID-19 was able to stop AA shutdowns... I haven’t seen a shutdown DP in days!!

You’d think AA would want to keep purging more rewards liability from the books seeing as travel restrictions and panic has it tittering on the verge of bankruptcy, or at the very least asking for a government handout.

I hope the bean counters have accounted for potential legal liability from all these shutdowns.

Ladies and Gentlemen, It's now OFFICIAL... I have reclaimed the elusive Companion Pass... We can all rest easy again!

The support you've all shown me during this trying time that I went without a companion pass (the past 2 1/2 months) has been tremendous!

EDIT: Very strange how my statements closed and points posted here. My first card closed on Friday evening and points posted Saturday before lunch. My second card closed on Wednesday evening and points posted yesterday I believe. These cards of course were on back to back days...and the due dates are only 3 days apart. Lots of strangeness, no clear pattern there...but all that matters is I have my points!

Can confirm. Public restrooms at major tourist attractions in Beijing will almost certainly have little old ladies outside selling packets of tissue paper to use as the other kind of TP.
Huh. They’ve gotten wiser to the needs of tourists! We had little old ladies inside by the sinks who would hand you the towel you could 100% grab for yourself and you were to leave a tip (so cheap it was nothing to an American, annoying to fish out but really nbd), but no one was selling “TP” outside of the grocery stores who were... OMG THIS MEANS I’M AN OLD PERSON TALKING ABOUT THE OLDEN DAYS 😱

I guess I’ll share my own Coronapocalypse story.

I stood in line this morning. At Best Buy. For the Animal Crossing Special Edition Nintendo Switch. The game comes out next Friday.

Gotta have something to keep us entertained while we’re wfh, the kiddo’s out of school, and we’re told to practice social distancing for the next few weeks, right?

We stocked up on food and household essentials a few days ago.

Imho bean counters have reached the next level: Survival.

Profits are out the window, they are literally looking at a fight to survive. That means cut everything. When the Delta CEO said this is worse than 9/11 it gave me a whole new perspective on how fast airline life got very bad.

There is no TP in our community! Target sees their shelves cleared by 7:10 everyday. We went to several different stores today and not a single one had any. My dd was on Guest Services at Target and she said that in the first two hours of work, every single phone call was people asking if they had TP. She asked me if severe diarrhea was a symptom of Coronavirus :rotfl2:

A firefighter's daughter posted on our community board that the firehouse is down to 3 rolls left and they've not been able to find any in the stores. People posted offering to take some to them but this is ridiculous. As a community, we should all be looking out for our fellow man and not hoarding like we are the only people who matter. If this is how we react in a 'crisis', God help us all.

Good thing we’re not shaking hands anymore?

Here's my churning tidbit: next week I will go from 5/24 to 2/24 (yes, I did apply for 3 credit cards in one week). I'm going to wait until April to apply for a CIP (and who knows what else, but probably something).

And as for the current situation, DH and I just got back from Target with 20 cans of soup. As empty nesters, we don't keep a lot of food in the house anymore and mostly eat things that are perishable, but I feel like I should have a few weeks of some kind of food on hand just in case either of us does contract this virus. Of these 20 cans of soup, most are things we have never eaten but sound promising, as well as a few things I don't think I have eaten since childhood.

Anyone have any favorite canned soup (or canned anything, really)?
I love potato and bacon soup. That's probably one of my favorites. Dh likes clam chowder the best. He said when he was at the store tonight the guy was just putting out Walmart brand chicken noodle and that's all they had so he bought 4 cans.

CA here. Number of our churches just switched to online only for now. Church in PJs? I could get used to this...
Our church has cancelled services too and moved to online church services, as well as all church activities. For us, this is almost daily stuff. Kids are down to online or homeschool only as well. SO, life is slowing down a lot here for my fam.
