It took four days but I have finally managed to cancel all of my parents’ pre-booked activities for their spring trip to visit us. They were able to do some on their own, but others were “impossible” to be cancelled before I called them & then magically, it was fine :jester: To that end, if anyone from our group here was planning a trip to Japan & now needs to cancel, and you are having a hard time, feel free to PM me & I will help you if I can. (Don’t PM me out of the woodwork if you have like a single post on the Restaurants board or found this on Google. I’m not running a travel agency )

So far I haven't booked anything except the flights and hotels... I will have to wait a bit to see what happens in a few months. This is all so very sad for everyone.

and here's another problem with that idea (at least here in the NE) it's ALLERGY season. So now what? do we look sideways at every cough, every sniffle? I tend to have allergies throughout the year, but this is my time here, and IDK how to handle the sneezing etc that accompany this, using my Zyrtec or not. It's going to be an issue.........
ETA......ANDDDD i see others noted the same! :thumbsup2 a lady in the store behind me gave one little cough.....

Did you see this?

Mine was crowded this morning also, but it was the first day of the new sale flyer, which is what I chalked it up to. I LOVE that they have 6 self-checkouts at mine now.

Mine used to have self checkouts and they took them out! It was a shame. The "door lady" at mine told me they're the busiest store in the state and I believe them... it's always nuts there.

Miami is just crazy. I just got an email that my sons Disney band trip next week was NOT cancelled but if it were to be, it was nonrefundable. I hope they give the parents the option of using those hotel rooms that are no refundable and unused if they cancel. Then, my youngest sons school just sent out a form for a field trip next Friday :scared: To quote my teens, miami has no chill - it just keeps going. Everything is going to be decided at the last minute.

Ok, so I finally got booked with Delta, it says cancel for any reason in 24 hours. Well an hour later, the flights are 3000 miles less LOL. any reason to not cancel and rebook?

ETA it just went back to the same I paid, their site must be going bonkers with the insanity.

Anyone with experience with cancelling/rebooking hotels booked with UR? My Hard Rock room dropped 4k points, so I'm considering rebooking. I know i could just cancel it and rebook online, but didn't know if it would be easier to call. Not sure which will result in the points getting back in my account quicker.

I have cancelled and rebooked a few times..
Points usually go right back into the account .....you may have to log out and then back in
if you have the points book the new reservation first then cancel

Dh said yesterday a guy was next to him going to the bathroom and they both got to the sinks at the same time. He said the guy put his hand under the water for a second and left. He didn’t even use soap
That's me sometimes unfortunately. But, I'm always pulling out my sanitizer as I turn around or as I head to the door.

UVA closed today. It was expected. I do feel terribly for everyone inconvenienced. As well as those economically impacted.

This pandemic is also making me apathetic about travel except to visit my parents who are in their late 70s. I'm sure once everything gets back to normal I'll feel differently.

We are making plans in case we have to work 100% remote. Capital One (pretty close to our biggest employer) announced today they were going 100% remote. We're a small office so I'm not sure we'll make that move unless things get a lot worse in Richmond.

Praying for strong leadership and unity in our country!

While I agree that some of the measures taken in Taiwan and Vietnam might not work here some would have. The media campaign and PSAs regarding hand washing including a catchy song that inspired a dance challenge and Tik Tok videos was a huge factor in Vietnam and Taiwan. Consistent messaging on protocols and information to the public is a huge factor. The amount of contradictions with regards to information and protocols here is staggering. I was shocked to read the reports of those under self quarantine in New York. Germany’s success in reducing the death rate can also be attributed to early detection with those who have symptoms getting tested and receiving supportive care. I still am seeing sick people go to work nearly everyday in my classes.
Good and totally fair points. Totally agree about the mixed messages. No one go on a cruise. Go on a cruise if you're healthy. Which is it?

Stay healthy!

Also, I think there are a few others here with kids at Michigan; the university just announced it's moving to online classes for the rest of the semester, but the campus will remain open. Announcement is here:

Just talked to my DD. She will stay on campus. They will continue to have nursing clinicals, which I'm glad about. I can't believe they cancelled the rest of the semester!
We were supposed to go there this weekend for Honor's Convocation, which is also obviously cancelled. I just got of the phone with Bonvoy and they waived the cancellation and redeposited my 50K free night. Next up, getting my Delta flights cancelled.

Loooooong day at work today. I'm a nurse. Never been so happy to be part-time. I have tomorrow off. :D

Heading to NC this weekend to look at houses. :cool1:Luckily have a nice stash of SW RR and CP because we have several trips planned over the next couple months (providing the country is not quarantined.... ;))

Haven't had an MSR in a while, since we'll be getting a new mortgage soon. I kind of miss it.

Sending :grouphug: ....my MIL is in assisted living we haven’t heard anything from them yet and nothing on their website

You will get some sort of notice soon I would think. CMS changed guidelines for all licensed areas - to heavily restrict visitors. How each facility interprets that is interesting. But it is not business as usual in the senior living industry.

Agree....There are cases here on LI, when the flu hit last year they were confined to their rooms and no outside visitors, so I would think something similar would happen now..she’s 90 and we are 60ish so everyone is in the at risk group
