Um... thanks? Maybe? Oddly enough this is one freebie I wish they'd keep -

I may be cynical but this actually sounds like the beginning of a deval for the CSR. With the rumors of a dining partnership there's speculation the CSR may move to offering a dining credit like AmEx but it would increase the AF. Since I have no plans to use this service, this would be useless for me. If they were to ask me, I'd put it on the CSP and differentiate it from the CSR. Leave the CSR with a focus for travel and have the CSP with a focus on dining if you wanted to mix it up. But no one asks me :)

ETA: Found a FAQ link with some details for eligible orders. I forgot to mention that the Freedom and Slate cards also get a 3 month pass. It doesn't specify if it's just the CF or Freedom family so don't know if the CFU is covered too. But you have to pay with the Chase card in order to get the pass benefits, can't just make it default and then pay with your Rose Gold instead... at least according to the rules. ;)

Edit2: Found the press release which says CFU is included -

The Marriott Marquis is literally right next to the theater. I hung out there while waiting for the theater to open the doors. However, it may be pricier/more points than other options. Check hotels that say theater district or Times Square. Although, some hotels fudge that a bit. My daughter and I stayed in a holiday inn that billed itself as the theater district, but was actually in the garment district. We knew it was, though, and although it was a bit of a farther walk, it was still quite doable.

Are there actually $200 tickets available in June? My kids bought my ticket, and I know they bought the ticket way, way in advance when a new block was released. I would recommend listening to the cast recording prior to seeing the show, because it can be difficult to catch all the lyrics.

And I’m not sure if this is the case all the time, but on the day I saw the show, the theater was absolutely freezing! C’mon, Hamilton. You make enough money to pay for a little heat ( or ac, if needed)!

Yep the tickets are only $200 for the Mezzanine section, there are even a few on the lower level for $239 which I'm considering. The show is on a Wednesday, so that may be why they are lower and there were several options to choose from. My daughter is obsessed with Hamilton and has watched everything she can find on you tube.

Thanks for the info on the hotels, that helps a lot. I was not looking in the right district. I have a free certificate with Marriott that should be available by that time, I'll have to see if I can use it.

I tried to sign up for this and Doordash wouldn’t let me because my address isn’t in a delivery zone. I’m annoyed they’d offer something “valuable” that has no value for me. If they even raise the AF I’ll be pretty upset. This is one of my favorite cards!

I saw this and I thought AF increase incoming. I’m a little surprised that an AF increase didn’t accompany this “benefit” (for now). Perhaps Chase is testing their cardholders’ appetite for a benefit like this.

I’ve been meaning to ask:If I had Southwest last year and don’t want to change, am I good to go?
Yes, I believe so. I used my Southwest credits in November and January with no problem 👍🏻
Dh and I have been planning on doing the London/Scotland trip next year, but I've really been feeling lately like I just want to go back to Japan instead. I loved it there so much and I know if I said it to Dh he would agree in a heartbeat. He practically begged me to go back last year even though we were just there in June. I feel like we should see someplace new, though. The expansion at TDR also doesn't open until 2022 so I'd like to see that, but by then we might be dealing with two kids. I just can't decide. We most likely wouldn't fly business with ANA because of the seat configuration and I would want the baby to have his own seat. We also would have to trek a lot further than if we were just going to Europe since we're on the East Coast. The nice thing about Japan is we've been there before and would know what to expect. We wouldn't really have to plan much because we already know we want to go back to Tokyo. I just can't decide.
We’re all about seeing new places, but in reality we often find ourselves traveling back to the places we love. Family always asks why we keep going back, and the answer is “because we know we’re going to have an amazing time” and it requires less brain work on my part.

ETA: Extended family are the ones asking why we ALWAYS go to the same places. My immediate family is happy to go to the same places. Just wanted to clarify 😉

Yeah this feels more like a promotion rather than a "benefit". Like Shoprunner and AmEx. But I'd probably put money that Chase is going to do more later and that's when we'd see an increase.

As much value as I see in the CSR, there's a limit to what I'd pay for it. There's a reason I haven't jumped in on the AmEx cards... other than the pop up :p

I'll be ticked if the AF increases. We do not use any of the food delivery services. Maybe college dd could use my account should this happen?

Hmmm. So one surefire way for me to meet a MSR each year is membership in a professional organization I use for work - its a hefty fee, that I get reimbursed for. New boss just told me I should get a check cut for the fee instead of putting it on my personal credit card - noooooooooooo! Also, he is making us use the corporate travel agency instead of booking our own flights - more lost points for me. Sigh.

Was he trying to be a good boss by suggesting you get a check?

And boo on corporate travel agencies, those are the worst. We tried it once and it actually cost more, that lasted 1 year.

We rarely use delivery services. We don't do a lot of takeout either - Its one way I try to save money so I can spend it on things like travel :rotfl: . But your comment made me think about how often I ordered delivery when I was in college and had no money! Funny how it seemed perfectly logical then, and seems like such a waste now.

I think the SW cards are an excellent option even for just a gift card cash out. I think Amazon and Target are options too at 1cpp. Let me say that again for those in the back: Applying for Southwest Cards simply to cash out via gift cards and never fly is not a bad option.

That said, keep in mind your Chase pacing. You can't drink from the cup AND get a SW card. It's more like an either/or decision and the cup provides more value for sure. The fact that one is a biz card and the other a personal doesn't really affect our pacing recommendations.

Now if you wanted to use it to take a break from another strategy, that could warrant consideration.
Right!!! I don't know why I was thinking the personal would not affect the biz  :thanks: I'll keep it in mind if the cup dries up.

He is super duper ethical - which is something I really respect about him, and doesn't like doing anything that even appears slightly self serving (like, um, getting credit card reward points for company expenses...) so I think that is why he prefers expenses to be paid by company check. My prior boss would have probably tried to run the charge through on HIS credit card, so that he would get the points instead of me :rotfl: so the new guy setting higher standards is overall a good thing.

The corporate travel thing is annoying. There are lots of folks I work with who do a ton of international travel, and the company discounts we get through an agency probably do save money there. Pretty much all my travel is domestic, and cheap, so its irritating to have to go through the agency for my $275 roundtrip southwest flight. BTW, prior boss used to put his international flights on his own credit card, and always booked super last minute. He had a $15k flight to Paris one time, because he booked late (and we fly business for international travel). He actually got in trouble for that one - one of my other colleagues was doing the same trip (booked last minute because of boss) and he chose to fly economy because he just thought the business price was insane!

IMO they're crazy if they raise the AF by $100 solely for a (sort of) dining credit that expires after two years. I'm stuck with the CSR because I can make the credits work but if I could make full use of Amex Gold I would drop CSR in a second with a $550 AF. What would you be paying the extra $250 for, after the travel credit? 3x on restaurants? You can get 4x with the Gold. 3x on travel? You can get that with CIP for a $95 AF. 1.5x Chase travel portal redemptions? Is that really worth that much more than the 1.25x you can get with CIP, again for a $95 AF?

I keep trying to convince my DD that if she lives like she has money now, she's going to have to live like a broke college student after college to be able to pay for everything that she shouldn't have spent during college lol!

We order out a few times a month when our schedules get a little too hectic and we're low on groceries or time to cook. I rarely use the "delivery" aspect of the food delivery services, and only with a promo code. I almost always use the pickup option to save on all the fees that these services tack on. Since on most services, the prices on the app are the same as the menu in the restaurant, I'll bite and even stock up on some discounted Uber, Grubhub and Caviar gift cards/credit when they come along.
