I went ahead and cashed out enough URs to cover the VGC’s I had on hand that I didn’t have time to load to Serve before things shutdown. It wasn’t a huge amount. I’ll probably try to not cash out more though now that the cup isn't overflowing so much anymore. It’s a nice little fall back fund for emergencies. I’d definitely consider cashing out though if I had a large amount of URs just standing there. But my balance isn’t that big anymore.
We may cash out just some of them and leave the rest in there as a “just in case”

Just waiting for DCL to cancel my cruise. All Alaskan cruises for 2020 have been removed from their website as of yesterday. Trying to decide between an 8-night Greek Isles cruise in June or 11-night cruise from Dover to Norway in late July. DD is being no help. She hates the heat so I'm thinking she'd prefer the weather on the Norwegian cruise. I want to do the Norwegian cruise, but I also want her to pick what she really wants. I probably need to start looking at excursions to get a better feel for the difference between the two.

If she doesn't like the heat I would think she would prefer Norway.

So much backreading to do later...

Question/Advice?

My United Mileage Plus Select annual fee just hit and I don't see any value in this anymore....should I just try and product change to the no fee United Travel Bank card? I will never do anything with the card but I have had this card open for 7+ years and I do not want to lose the history of the account. (That makes sense right).

I guess I can also see if they can waive the fee/retention offer.

Thanks for any advice!

I would not close that one, just downgrade it.

Dh said the downside is it won’t reflect those long term payments on my credit report which may affect my score even more
our mortgage has not been in my name for 20 years.
My car loans have always been in my name as well as credit cards...and credit score has always been over 830 without The mortgage on my credit report.
if your recent credit report shows your cards closed with a higher balance that may have caused the drop

I had read somewhere that the grocery category on the Chase cards( other than the CF)was a little looser and might include Target if they had a specific grocery section. I decided to experiment and can confirm that my Target did not:(. It's just a regular target with groceries, not a Super Target. Has anyone had any surprises of what codes as grocery with the new bonus?
My grocery store has a separate register for alcohol and hot foods. It does not count as grocery for AmEx but did for my Chase Marriott.

I have 2 DCL placeholder questions -
When you book a cruise, does it have to leave within the 2 year expiration or finish before the 2 year expiration? I think I booked mine on 6/26/19

@havaneselover are you my DCL/Costco expert? :) You just need to upgrade the regular Costco membership to executive right before the cruise to get the 2% in rewards back, right? When you upgrade is it pro rated or full price?

Sorry to post about this again, but hubby got an email explanation. Reason is "Low usage of Chase credit lines". What does this even mean? Are his limits too high? We met his SW MSR in about two months between Feb-April , and have spent at least a few thousand on his freedom card since January. So we are using them and I'm confused.
If it is his limits, could he try to call the recon line asking them to lower limits and still approve him?

Sounds like the excuse / reason Barclays loves to give, which is "if you're not using the existing lines, why do you need more ?".

Definitely sounds like a recon call is in order, where your P2 has to maybe explain that no new credit is needed (and offer to transfer excess line from another card) and maybe explain why the preferred card now makes sense (like ordering a lot of take out due to Covid 19 so double points on dining now makes sense.

Yes, but you also need to make sure you are still a member until you receive the reward. I think in 2018 I upgraded in August, sailed a few weeks later, then received the reward in May. I'm not sure about whether it's pro-rated because I think I happened to upgrade right when my membership was renewed.

And on the first question I think it has to start by the 2nd anniversary of the day you booked, but I'm not certain.
