Took me two chat people to get my answer from Amex, I hung up on the first when I realized that Tripti didn't understand my question when they started talking about relief. Slightly reworded my question and got my answer right away from Moti. Extention through to Aug but I think I'll meet it well before that just maybe not by my original June 24th date.

And our gov just announced our stay at home is through May 4, hoping we get sprung for my bday on the 5th but I doubt it at this point. Guess I'll get Red Robin since our fav mexican won't be open I'm sure since they aren't now. Unless we do get sprung and find out in enough time, they'd want the cinco de mayo sales I'm sure. Wonder if I can still get my free sundae at RR for a bday pick up 😁

crazy right ..match someone’s salary but give them more....I remember watching some Senator saying this was nuts but no way around it with the way different states calculate unemployment benefits
I thought it was a drafting error. They found it and wanted to fix it but decided to just pass it as is. It needs to be fixed imo.

Hart to Hart....😂

Totally 😁 But really I'm just glad she's not watching matlock, though columbo shows up every couple of weeks. She's 72 so what are you going to do.

The drafting error was something else, though they complained about the amount. But I read sonewhere that FlL ue tops at like 275 a week or something so if some states are lower like PP saidb itbmakes sense but then there's stayes that pay like 80% up to a certain amount so what do you do. That ue is taxed so hopefully people have it taken out or save up amd don't just think that extra 600 is a freebie.

...and they didn't test the employees b/c they didn't have the tests? Are they testing employees now en masse?

They'd have to test daily and there's no capacity for that or speed for that. If all nursing facilities had those quick tests they talked about the other day it would work but even hospitals aren't testing employees that much here and it took forever to get all of the one facility's emp tested. Prob part of their fine but I can see if they win an appeal on that part cause testing is out of their control.

I don’t know what area you work in, but jobs should come back as soon this blows over. I won’t be hoping on a bus to NYC anytime soon and absolutely no guilt over it either. Thank God I didn’t go per diem like I wanted to. I’d be out of work or I would be on a bus to NYC.

They called it a "temporary lay off," so I'm sure I could go back to the same job once it's over. But I'm moving in a month (if school remains remote) or two (if they go back) so I'll be waiting until then anyway, then will start looking.

FL is $275 tops..looked at it since my son lives there..

With our passports expiring in Aug, does anyone know the process in case I need to end up going to DC to get them renewed?

Passport times are increased due to the covid thing. We’re going on 4 weeks for my kids new passports. I don’t know about renewals but I’d give it some extra time. I think offices might be closed.

I think there was a post by TPG about them only doing passports for emergencies at the moment. Saw it on twitter but didn't read it. I'd check out the state dept page or google to find the passport page I'm sure it's updated about what's going on and what to do if it's set to expire.

Ohhh, that reminds me ... I've gotta renew my passport. No hurry, just gonna expire in less than a year. Thanks!

We need baseball back! Have a trip to SD and LA to see our Brewers play in July.

Does anyone hap

I, too, am going to have to go to Costco. Probably not today... but within a week or so. I am not looking forward to it either.
I went to Costco a couple of days ago. Frankly it was the most pleasant shopping experience I've ever had there. People were lined up outside, as they were only allowing a certain number inside at once. I was expecting pandemonium, but I was pleasantly surprised. The store was quiet, and there was no line. And they even had toilet paper!
Perhaps I shall get lucky. I haven't been in roughly 2 months, which is why it's time to go again. I do want a TP, and then some frozen things which I don't expect to have a problem getting.

I am NOT looking forward to getting there super early to get in line, which, from reading my neighbors' posts on FB, seems to be what must be done to get the TP.
Same here. Went to Sam's and was able to get anything I wanted. Plenty of TP and bottled water available, though we didn't need any.
When we go to Costco lately, we usually go during the last few hours of opening. Hardly anyone there in comparison to the pics of the lines I've seen online.
I went to Costco last week and it was not bad at all. I mean...they were out of cleaning supplies but everyone was distancing (mostly), employees were disinfecting constantly, it was NOT crowded.
I wasn't concerned about Costco being busy---it's just the whole stress of going shopping now. Costco had almost everything I wanted---we don't need any chicken or meat because the freezer is stocked--and all the employees were super-friendly as usual. It was very much a somber place. Definitely more masks being worn than two weeks ago.
Did you buy flour at Costco? If so, how do you keep it fresh?
We had it on our list last week but didn't want to buy it in bulk at Costco, and of course the regular grocery store didn't have any.
I got a 25 lb bag of flour at Costco (we go through 5lb/week normally so lots and lots now). I gave my dh a very hard side-eye when he made a joke about "all that flour." Dude, you have no idea how much food we go through.
We just received word my husband’s grandmother is positive and probably passing soon. She got it from a rehab center she was in.
I am so very, very sorry

A friend's mother died yesterday. She was the 10th person to die from coronovirus in our state. I am so sad that they won't be able to mourn as normal.

I have mixed emotions about this. On the one hand, I agree it’s very strange people are going to get a raise on unemployment. But on the other hand as someone who is going to be receiving unemployment for the foreseeable future I’m hugely relieved at the thought of receiving the additional money. DH and I feel like we just had the rug yanked out from under us. Many tears have been shed, and we have enough savings to live for a while, but this was so unexpected that we would both be unemployed. I could go on and on, but yes, I’m with you guys. It seems odd that people will essentially get a raise, but for my family the swift passing of the stimulus package was a tremendous relief. But as I stated above, I have yet to see the extra $600, and given how quickly the government typically moves, I’m not expecting it any time soon.

Okay, so then why are we even locking them down then if the employees are going home and getting it and bringing it back?
A true lockdown would be locking down the employees at the facility too, but that's not happening...at least I hope not. Geez.

Limiting coming and going to employees has a flattening of the curve effect - just like in the general population. Doesn't mean that nursing home residents won't get the virus, but it means a slower spread.

No, we haven’t started since we thought we needed them for our canceled cruise and the libraries are closed that take the applications and post offices aren’t taking appointments so we may need to actually the same day route in DC since we need them 7/30, assuming Australia doesn’t get canceled. I am just trying to understand the process if it comes to that.

Sending :grouphug: ....who would of thought this could happen...DH has taken a pay cut...we have savings but still scary times

In credit card news, my CSR fee posted yesterday. Booooo. I actually forgot it was coming. I upgraded in November. Even though I already used my travel credit, still sucks to see it. It was straight up $450. I wasn’t sure when they upped the price if I would still be charged the lower amount or the $550. It would have been great to get charged the $450 and see the $100 credit they are offering now! Lol My main motivation for getting it was to have 2 Priority passes for our family trips this summer. Now who knows if we will get to go anywhere.
