I’m actually surprised at how compliant people are and how willing they are to give up their civil liberties. I never thought I’d live see the day when the government took away our jobs. I don’t know what peoples breaking point is. Maybe when unemployment reaches 30%. I think this is going to be a very different world in 6 months. The virus is just the beginning.
I’m trying to do my part and be a team player, and cheerleader. but I’m very concerned and angry about all of it. I iknow it’s not the perspective people like to hear. Hopefully I’m wrong and this will go just like they tell us it will, and we will have that third quarter rebound and will all live happily ever after. Right now I’m not believing anything they tell me. Sorry for the vent.
People will not stay cooped up for 6 months. Very easy to go along with extended lockdowns when money is still coming in. Suicide rates are up, 10 milliion lost jobs, rioting in Jaffa after man defied isolation order and was detained. It's coming.
Social distancing doesn't have to mean locking down everything. Lots of unknowns, variations based on geograpy, density, etc.
So we let everyone out in 6 months, then what? We'll pass it all around then.
I'm not believing anything they tell me either, doesn't matter from which side.

I, too, am going to have to go to Costco. Probably not today... but within a week or so. I am not looking forward to it either.

I went to Costco a couple of days ago. Frankly it was the most pleasant shopping experience I've ever had there. People were lined up outside, as they were only allowing a certain number inside at once. I was expecting pandemonium, but I was pleasantly surprised. The store was quiet, and there was no line. And they even had toilet paper!

Is it possible you mean FOMO? I don’t think MOFO is what you are trying to say lol
I totally missed that! 🤣
We've been telling her for ages that we'll get a dog, and I think it's finally time to actually get on a wait list.
Maybe consider fostering or adopting from a rescue. With all the unemployment, numbers of abandoned dogs and puppies will skyrocket soon.

Perhaps I shall get lucky. I haven't been in roughly 2 months, which is why it's time to go again. I do want a TP, and then some frozen things which I don't expect to have a problem getting.

I am NOT looking forward to getting there super early to get in line, which, from reading my neighbors' posts on FB, seems to be what must be done to get the TP.

Same here. Went to Sam's and was able to get anything I wanted. Plenty of TP and bottled water available, though we didn't need any.
When we go to Costco lately, we usually go during the last few hours of opening. Hardly anyone there in comparison to the pics of the lines I've seen online.

They've reached an agreement with Florida to allow the 2 Holland America ships to dock. Looks like they will handle the dispersion of the passengers a little more efficiently than they did the ship that came into Miami. Charter jets will await the foreign nationals, who will be bussed straight to the airport. Earlier I read that onboard were 300 Americans out of about 2400 plus or minus passengers.

I went to Costco last week and it was not bad at all. I mean...they were out of cleaning supplies but everyone was distancing (mostly), employees were disinfecting constantly, it was NOT crowded.

I was there late - maybe about 5:00pm (ish) and they still had a decent amount of TP. They were limiting purchases to 1 per person, so I'm sure that helped.

My shift was canceled today and I'm an RN. They are canceling RN's in my state every day as hospitals sit at half capacity. People get mad when I say that because it's not what they are being told on the news. We even have local businesses bringing us food because they think we're working so hard. Then people will tell me it's coming your going to get hit eventually. How is there going to be a surge in my city when were on lockdown. Isn't that the whole purpose of the lockdown? In the meantime, a couple of my favorite small businesses have folded.

I'm sure it's bad in NYC, but I'm guessing in a city with 19 million people there hospitals are always busting at the seams. It doesn't sound like they were prepared for this.

I don't know what 20%-30% unemployment looks like. I haven't seen that in my lifetime. I would expect some civil unrest in certain cities, but I don't know.

I got to Costco an hour after opening on a Saturday the store was empty I was even able to get toilet paper. I went back on Tuesday about the same time to see if they had paper towels. The line wrapped all the way around the building a couple of times. It looked the line for Splash mountain on a holiday weekend. I decided I could live without paper towels for another week.

I’ve been using rags more often than paper towels. If there’s one thing this has taught me, it’s that I’m very wasteful with paper towels normally.

I'm headed to Costco tomorrow around lunch time. I saw data that said traffic has been down lately. My freezer is jam packed right now so I'm not buying a ton. I am on the lookout for a jar of yeast for my bagel making (not from Costco--just generally). I did see packets yesterday at Publix but I'd prefer a jar:)

I will need to cancel my daughter's early June flight to London on Virgin America (booked in February). Her flight was 17,500 points + $275 in taxes/fees. Is the consensus to simply sit tight in hopes that they will cancel the flight and issue a refund?
