Yay! I was finally able to link my Swan ressie to MDE this morning. Fancy MBs have been ordered, although the options were slim pickings. I had no idea who some of the characters were on the bands. I guess from Disney Jr?

I am trying to decide if I tell DS when the bands arrive or when we land in MCO and he thinks we are headed to USO. Either way, he is going to be excited.
Great! Glad you figured that out. I agree about the bands. I didn't know some of them either. DH and I already had some from our fall trip but our 2 kids going with us didn't so I ordered more for us too. ;)
So cool that you are surprising your DS!

I put this on Dischurners but no one said anything so thought I would ask here...

Looking for an Amex strategy for this year for 2 player mode.
Player 1 got Platicorn last year in June and will be downgrading to something (not sure what but hopefully keeping MR in June).
Is there a card I can support Player 2 with now and if I am reading correct get that elevated 25k MR bonus and in turn eventually have P2 support back to player 1 to open a card and protect the MR before I downgrade the plat in June? I hope that made sense. Open to suggestions....want to wait on Player 2 going for a platicorn as well until a time that we can better utilize benefits (aka not with a newborn that is coming soon). Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

@calypso726 I booked first class on BA from Toronto to Edinburgh for September 20th! After thinking about it overnight and playing with dates, this worked best.

I transferred 68,000 URs to BA (instantly). Oddly the UR portal wanted 357,000 URs for the same flight.

Also booked 2 nights at the WA Edinburgh on points (80K HH / night).

Would you stay in Edinburgh for a week or take a train to London for the weekend? I have never been to Scotland and have visited London 3 times (not much I need to see in London, but I love shopping there). Thoughts?

I do my taxes and my mom’s with TurboTax. Need Premier since we have a rental property. Have been looking everywhere at prices. Staples has been the highest price thus far @ $69.99(Costco, BJs OD/OM, Amazon, Sam’s all cheaper). Then yesterday Rakuten had an offer for $15 off 60, plus 2%. Plus I had an Amex offer for 10% at Staples. Even though I had a Staples rewards account I hadn’t opened an online account and when I did that last night they sent me a $6 coupon today. Final price $48.99-10% Amex=44.09. If Rakuten tracks, it should be $43.11 (plus tax, free delivery).

If you still have more to do, check out FreeTaxUSA. We too have a rental property that we sold last year so we would have needed the most expensive Turbo Tax option ourselves, and I was just fed up with how much they charge.

FreeTaxUSA is listed on the IRS website as an approved e-filer and they are significantly less expensive. I believe ours is $6.99, and to do state it was a little more add-on. And I find the tools to actually be more robust than TT.

Don't downgrade that Platinum to anything. All of the downgrade options have an annual fee and you'd be missing out on ever getting the SUB, to boot.

The best options to keep your MR alive are the Blue for Business Plus or the Every Day card (non-AF version).

The 25k support bonus is only on the Gold Biz until 2/5. After that, it may go down to 20k, which was what it was before. The plat comes with 15k support. If you want to get the Gold Biz, there's a tiered SUB 50k first $5000 spend, 25k for next $5000 (total 75k/$10k). But the AF is $295 with no perks like the plat to offset it. It does come with 4x restaurants and gas, plus some other categories.

There's a 125k MR super platicorn offer going around. Keep in mind that if P2 gets Amex cards, they may be less likely to be targeted for the platicorn.

@miztressuz - my $10 referral just came through for Sam's. Daughter doesn't get home from work til 6ish so I'll check to see what she gets.

The page showing the 2 x$20 plus 1 x $10 egift cards now just shows my Disney gc purchase.

Amex still pending.

Edit: only one $20 egift card was sent.

Thanks for thr info! I wasn't happy with how much tax act is charging now and I ended up doing my state by hand because of it. Only have state because of the rental and I always owe since the rental is.thr only income there.

I'd looked on that site.over the weekend but actually knowing which I can use is more helpful for my search.

Wouldn't you know, the first year I don't care about school calendar they release it already??? The last couple of years I think it has been May or June before they release it. And now I still don't know calendars because DS doesn't know where he is going yet.
Still waiting...

Glad you could get it done. Did the number from Swan eventually work?
We’re going to USO for a weekend in March and not telling DS until that morning. Although I haven’t decided if we’ll even tell him where we’re going until we get there.
I'm asking about the eGC for joining, not one that was bought. I recall @hsmamato2 joined using a link that gave a $20 eGC for joining but the charge to AmEx was delayed. Unless I'm misremembering.
The e-gift card came in less than an hour for me. Check email/spam.
Oh and which I know you all realize but if you are wondering how you might meet a MSR without being creative take your animal to the vet. So I now might be getting another card sooner than I had anticipated.
Sadly, so true. Had to put my old pup down last week and it was $250.
Double sad because I had no MSR.

So that works with a rental? I have used TT for years and am very familiar with it. Hate having to buy the more expensive version because of the rental. I also have done my mom’s since my dad passed away but hers are generally very simple.
Hmm interesting. Guess I’m keeping my Hyatt Card.

Was having trouble registering for online access for my new PNC account turned out that since I had one a year or two ago the system linked my new account to that one and re-enabled online access for that login. (I checked when I applied, the old username/password did not work.) It also asked me an old security question- glad I still had that old login info!

YAY!!! Good for you! Jammies coming your way!

Oh boy, loaded question. I love Edinburgh and could happily stay there for a week. But Edinburgh is my favorite city in the world so this is a very biased opinion.

If I had a week and was taking someone to Scotland for the first time, I would stay in Edinburgh for a couple of days, visit St. Giles Cathedral, do the Real Mary King Close tour, go to Edinburgh castle, visit Hollyrood Palace see Greyfriar's Kirkyard do some walking tours etc. I would also book a 3 day Isle of Skye/Highlands tour that picked me up from Edinburgh and had an itinerary like this one.

In my opinion, you can't truly experience Scotland until you've visited Skye and explored the Highlands.

I love visiting London and I enjoy the English countryside very much. But it doesn't hold a candle compared to visiting Skye and the Highlands for me. I'm not caught up yet and don't know if @tink1970 or @CaliforniaGirl09 have chimed in yet but I know both enjoy visiting Scotland.

for transferring MR- Bonvoy- can I do this from my amex card acct- DH's Bonvoy acct?
No but you can pool Marriot points. So just transfer from your Amex to your Marriott and then transfer from your Marriott to his Marriott.

Keep in mind there is a restricted amount of 100,000 points per year on transfers of Marriott points between spouse accounts. There was a time that they were able to allow a larger transfer in order to complete a reservation. That is no longer the case.

Thanks for the tour info! I've saved their website, after spending 30 minutes drooling :rotfl:

Saving all of this for our 2021 trip 👍

Dh and I just watched Harriet. It was pretty good. I don’t normally get into historical films but I liked this one
