I’ve never mentioned this, but I’ve pulled it three times—-and I don’t want it. It just doesn’t have enough value for me, because I wouldn’t use most of the perks. I’m afraid to look any more. Not sure if I’m more afraid it would be gone, or that it would still show up for me and I’d have major FOMO.

I think it may show for me because I have zero Amex cards. I’m a slow churner. My next move is to try for the SW companion pass. I will likely only get a few uses out of it, but all those extra points will be nice.

Um how can you tell if a flight is on Rouge? Air Canada has options for us to get to Australia next year (booking through United).

It will list Air Canada Rouge clearly. It did for me even searching and booking via United with miles.

I mean I know what waitlist means but I never received any notification that we were on a waitlist. It also lists a similar flight right below it and says we’re on the waitlist for that too?

Off topic book recommendation.

If any of you are fans of gone girl, girl on a train or other psychological thrillers I just finished Behind Closed Doors by B. A. Paris. It will make you angry but it was also really hard to put down. I highly recommend. Because I have a lot of friends I share books with that have been through some pretty rough stuff I just have to put a disclaimer out there that if you have been in a controlling or abusive relationship (in this case mental) this book may not be the best for you. Good Reads provides a pretty good summary of the book. I listened on audio (free on Overdrive from my library) and the narrator was really good.

I finished that book a few weeks ago and felt compelled to put a library hold on a few more books by that author. I just downloaded one on my Kindle but haven't started it yet. I hope it's as good as "Behind Closed Doors"!

OT question- for those of you who have booked "magical" rates- did you have to pay additional taxes or fees at the hotel? We went down to pay for a lunch we charged to our magic band and pay with a gc, and the balance is over $300 for taxes and a 3rd adult fee. The receipt and quote from my TA said nothing about having to pay additional fees! I emailed her but haven't heard back yet. Not cool!!!

No but if your TA/Disney Groups failed to charge the extra per person rate that could be why disney is charging you. I paid for extra people just fine with my booking through them last year, nothing was due on arrival. Do you have your paperwork from the TA confirming your total amount due and your payments? If so does it show how many people? I wouldn’t wait for an email btw, I’d give the TA a call as well.

Thanks. Maybe, although I booked them on 9/6 so you’d think it would be sorted by now. I will def send them a tweet though.

I’m actually looking around for alternative flights (not seeing any yet tho) just in case they will let me make a change. I think it may be a case where the time for our flight from Toronto to Detroit has changed since it asked me to confirm I was good with the schedule update (which I didn’t) or to contact them.

A little Googling/FlyerTalking and it looks like waitlisted generally means you aren’t ticketed yet- not good. Do you have partner confirmation numbers you are able to put into the partner’s website and bring up your booking and see it’s status with them? Sometimes people call UA (well, I would Tweet LOL) and the agents are able to get it pushed through with partners. If you find alternate flights you want (even if there isn’t award space) you could give it whirl and tweet UA asking to move your flight to that one since the original time changed rendering this waitlisted thing a moot point (might have better luck on that front if you’re moving to something on UA metal). But if you want what you currently have you should contact UA.

It should say on the AC page under the flight number. I seriously doubt they'd fly a Rouge plane to Australia -- they use their "real planes" for the longhaul flights, i.e., China, Japan, Australia, etc.

Were all the adults listed in the room prior to arrival? How could they have left one off the price?! That is crazy. Sorry you have to deal with that. Do you have the cell for your TA? I would even text him/her that it is urgent.
