Well it’s a nice place to visit, anyway.
I learned so much about the college applications process last year-mostly that it is freaking crazy and nothing like when I did it...if I knew then what I know now DD (I) would have saved so much on applications. :(

Yes, the college application is truly a kind of crazy all it's own (partly because of how insanely expensive it has become). With four kids, I fell like I became a kind of expert by the end, although none of my kids were hard-core science and none played sports, so that made the process pretty similar for all of them. I actually only regret a few application fees, and by the last kid I was insisting that he send in more applications because I wanted to make sure he had more than one good option at the end.

DD just got home and handed me a note from the Director of the Front Office. It's an apology for switching hotels and that's why I got the bonus 10K. She said they comped the parking ($40+ and I'm assuming both nights) and gave them a bottle of cabernet. I said that's probably because she was in her wedding dress and DIL was in her dress blues lol

So, Element/Aloft in downtown Austin now has me happy with Marriott where I was ready to ditch the entire chain lol

Aloft was part of SPG so in my opinion they haven't yet thrown all customer service down the drain. I've stayed Aloft about a dozen times and they've always been upbeat, cheerful and accommodating. And, you've had a hectic few weeks, vacation, wedding and all that went with that.

I just watched Tim Tracker's AKL tour and then I noticed a Dis tour in the news and updates here on the Dis. So I watched it. The Dis one - DVC Fan, was set to music and was nice and hit some highlights. It was short feeling.

The Tim Tracker was narrated all the way through and was much more intimate, although I feel both efforts missed a LOT of what Animal Kingdom Lodge has to offer. I guess they probably try to keep these things brief to maintain a certain interest level.

Although I didn't buy there - in the early DVC years it was pretty easy to get at 7 months and still is for that matter. I've even stayed 3 nights in a row concierge level in the DVC studios (and I really enjoy this and watch for them all the time.) Prior to them being DVC on several occasions I was able to book a room at a discounted price and upgrade on check in to CL (for $60 a night). Haven't had that opportunity in a while. Stayed in rooms on 5th floor overlooking the Arusha Savannah and very close to the lobby area. That alone was worth the $60 so no long walk to get to the room. This is one hotel where I want a close to lobby room. I don't mind going for a stroll to see the animals but I don't want to HAVE to walk that distance each time I leave the room. I've also enjoyed Kidani twice but will always take Jambo first. And, I love the coconut curry soup in Mara!

I'm guessing the dis dvc tour was just the tour that went along with the podcast unless the tour was part of a podcast vid you watched on it. They always do a tour vid or a party vid etc to supplement the video podcast that contains the discussion. They also release it on it's own and not just within a 30 to hour + podcast videowhich is probably where the info you wanted was.

I wasn't actually looking for anything. Just clicking around on the Dis.

Good to know about Aloft, I have not experienced them yet.

Yes, the past 3 months have been crazy. My vacation was booked, then the girls decided to do the wedding in order to get DD on orders for moving. So, I put together a wedding (with zero experience since I did JP) in 3 months. DIL is about 3.5 hours away sometimes here on weekends and DD works doubles every chance she gets so it mostly all fell to me. The stress over the past 3 weeks has been insane, and it didn't help that my meds stopped working so I had to deal with that as well, and a bunch of family drama with my parents/sibs. My Cricut machine is taking a long rest after making invitations, paddle fans and a lot of decor stuff. I took a long nap yesterday and I'm doing very, very little work today. Wedding stuff has spilled all over my downstairs though, so I might need to do something with that today lol

Happy that I'm not in a hurricane path, but thinking about those that are.

Seriously that is exactly what it feels like. At 1mph it feels like she'll never get here. Stores, the club, the gym and basically everything around here is closed today due to the storm, so it was nice to get out and get some exercise for a few hours today (we played pickle ball twice - morning and just got home a little while {soaked from the rain}).

Around this time last year, I did an upgrade offer on my Blue Cash Everyday to Blue Cash Preferred. I see a "renewal membership fee" showing in my activity which I'm assuming is the fee for the BCP since the year is up, but the charge is only $3.90 instead of $95. My original plan had been to downgrade back to the no-fee BCE after the year, but if they're really only going to charge me $3.90 to keep my 6% back on groceries I'll keep it as is. Does anyone know why the fee would be reduced? For context, the BCE was opened in 8/2015.
