CIP#1 is now a shiny new CIC which I am excited to use to get some bonus URs at the Office Depot near me!

How long do I need to wait before using DH's referral link to apply for CIP #2? We went to Lowe's today and had to pay movers and are officially done with the MSR on his CIP.

Do you get auto-approvals on Chase biz cards? If so, I would personally wait until 9/1 go apply just so you can go a month without paying the AF. Prolonging the inevitable, but if you apply today/tomorrow and get approved immediately I bet the AF would post 9/1.

Of course I had to go over there and read as well, but I didn't post anything.

But I was interested in one comment. A poster said, 'what store offers 40% off gift cards?'

I was about to challenge this but decided to hold my fingers still over the keyboard.

But, stores DO discount gift cards. All the time. Maybe not as high as 40% when we are talking Disney cards, but discounting gift cards happens.

American Express discounted Home Depot gift cards by 20% not long ago. And I traded a bunch of MR's to buy a lawn mower.

This was obviously a mistake on Disney's part and must have generated a considerable amount in sales. I'd love to know what the cost would have been if they'd honored this mistake.

... Maybe. All the ingredients are there but it's going to run into just a bit of upper level shear soon and that might be just enough to disrupt category 5 strengthening. Regardless, this is a dangerous storm no matter the category.

To this point, the advisories have mostly been based on satellite estimates, and the category 4 strength comes from actual hurricane hunter recon data.

Thank you. I’m surprised at how gossipy and judgy this group is. Lain posts “we should be better than this “ and then comes here to make fun of us that are dissatisfied/disappointed. It’s childish and hurtful.
FYI, I worked in finance for 15 years before retiring. PayPal actually has some features regular CC don’t offer. I regularly use it when I don’t have a credit card that is offering an additional bonus.

You may not remember this, but I was a major contributor on the Disney Gift Card Deals thread waaaay before I moved over to this thread, and helped hundreds of members save thousands of dollars on Disney vacations. The kind of drama stirred up in the Disney Gift Cards Deals thread today with members pointing at each other and calling one another “entitled” — over a glitch! — is one of the reasons why I no longer post on that thread as much as I used to.

As to my second post, it is in response at least in my mind to your reply to me:

I always hesitate to “read” emotion into writing, but you seemed pretty upset that I assumed you used a credit card or judged you for using PayPal. My assumption was based on the fact that you have credit cards and are financially savvy enough to seek out advice about credit cards. I stand by my position that you would not be out any money, albeit temporarily, if you had used a credit card and not PayPal.

In no way were my comments intended to judge or make fun of you or anyone else.

Do you use packing cubes? How much have you found that it holds?

I do use packing cubes (sometimes) and I've only used it for shorter trips (3-5 days) so far. I'm hoping to use it for a 7 day trip next summer but we'll see. I'm sort of a chronic overpacker

Yes. I'm an old school hurricane watcher / addict / weather nerd. I'm proud of myself because I knew we'd be at Cat 4 tonight by going over the readings from the day. I am not a scientist but these storms fascinate me. I always follow weather forums during big events like this one - reading along as the meteorologists debate each other. r/TropicalWeather is also good on Reddit - as is Tropical Tidbits

I'm a recovering overpacker (but the shoes!) but I'd love to go carryon only for our 7 day trip to Rome. Two weeks in India might be pushing it. Hey, I could also get a new backpack/personal item for India though

The models are showing the storm turning so it might not hit (we hope!)

Just keeping watching the news and do what your local authorities tell you. If you haven't met your neighbors, it would be a good idea to meet them tomorrow and make a plan to check on each other.
