DHs family is pretty pessimistic overall 🙄 much as I love them.

This morning I saw Monday had tons of availability including a non stop for 6800 RRs so I booked it too as another low cost option for moving.

I love this!! HAHA! @striker1064 - we need you to start producing an individual forecast for @amalone1013's family. If things continue to slow down maybe she can stay until Monday or Tuesday even, haha!
:rotfl:

Noooo I'm just a dude on the internet and no one should be listening to me!

@amalone1013 just give them a little Taylor Swift - YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN
I’m also just a dude on the internet who according to some of my friends leads hundreds of people into credit card debt and certain financial ruin. Doesn’t stop me...

At least in this case it’s only two people... 🤣

Come on guys, I was on spaceship earth!

Just read MCO will close at 2am Monday. Not sure if that helps some of y’all with flight uncertainties!
Was just cominh to post that for @amalone1013 and @disneymagicgirl. Weathet channel also said wdw is continuing with reg hours for now.

Eta yeah it got me again and posted mid tag.
@amalone1013 - maybe take the Sunday flight. Airport is shutting down Monday at 2am.
Yep. She needs to jump on the Sunday morning if it’s not booked yet.

Thanks everyone! We have an 8am flight booked for Sunday (and tomorrow too...). The real problem... when I tell DH he'll want to leave tomorrow :rotfl:

I guess this is why Southwest is popular? They don't charge you for a checked bag, right?
Yes! SW gives you 2 free checked bags per person and has no change/cancellation fees! You just pay the difference in price for a change or get a SW credit good for 1 year from date of booking if the price is lower or if you cancel on cash. Points go back to your RR account.

Basically SW is Gucci! I’m so up on the slang guys!

Quick question for @speedyfishy or others using GCs/Serve. I usually end up with VGCs from Sunrise bank. (Even when the ad for Jewel/Albertsons says Metabank in the promo, local stores always have Sunrise) They always have last 4 of the card number pre-set as PIN. This week I picked up VGCs at OM and they are variable load VGCs which are now loaded with $200 each. There is no note of PIN on the packaging and the insert says “you may obtain a pin by visiting Giftcardmall.com”
So I must set the pin, correct? Or do I just give it a try with using the last 4 digits as pin?

I think most of us looking at AA are doing the throwaway rental car option to access the better redemption rate vs. Hotels only on useaamiles. It's weird, but it works, LOL! I ended up putting $9.90 on my CSR although it seems that it will achieve nothing. Trip cancellation likely wouldn't get me back my AA miles unfortunately.
Not sure on that. When we had to cancel flights booked on points, trip insurance paid the fee to reinstate our points (I think it was $150 at the time). So CSR ‘trip insurance’ may cover you.

In reading the fine print it seems there is a significant difference between flights and and other travel expenses and the protections they offer. I linked some of the guides (and an excerpt of the fine print)if you want to give it a review and see if I’m missing something. I’d love to be wrong on that.

I think you are good for Sunday morning. Don't think I would change to Sunday evening on the chance that MCO moves up their closing and then you're stuck pending reopening.

There's also a lot to be said for leaving tomorrow morning also. Put your relatives minds at ease.

First, for all of our friends in the potential path of Dorian, I'm thinking of you all and hoping for the very best course to avoid any impact to you/loved ones/pets/property/vacations (excluding the awesome change of events for @calypso726's cruise!!).

I had a few minutes to do some book keeping on my credit card status for the year and thought I'd post a summary. This is the first year I really ramped up the number of applications. In years past I would focus on manufactured spending for 5% cashback and 5x URs. I was able to make some decent profits but I lost a bit of energy to make the office supply/Simon Mall/Walmart/Meijer runs. This year it's been all about the sign-up offers and fortunately (unfortunately?) we've been able to meet almost everything with organic spend

Summary of Cards YTD 2019 (P1 and P2):

  • $1000 in SoFi and WF bank bonuses (plus $300 hopefully pending for BoA since I used real DD)

  • We plan to get new carpet that could be around $7K, it may be through Costco which means Visa, I suppose we could knock out 1 or 2 CIP with that...
  • I want to get the Amex Biz Plat for P1 and/or P2 (lounge access for Europe trip next year will be nice)
  • ??? (open to any and all suggestions)

I forgot to mention this earlier this week when I saw it: my Kroger is now carrying Norwegian Cruise Line and Amtrak gift cards. I don’t use either of these options, but I know some people here do. They had a little sign next to them on the display that said “new!”

Dang. Wish we had Kroger here. I could use both of those gift cards, and I’ve never seen them anywhere around me.

Almost forgot, I ended up signing up for Disney+ streaming. I was charged $140.97 (going towards MSR on Hilton Amex Biz). Less than $4/month sounds pretty good to me considering DD loves Disney Channel and we like the Star Wars and other Disney movies. Really excited about the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series!!
