Just curious if anyone has recently (or ever) used Unipass in an Alamo rental? I know I need to change the car and plate in my app at pickup and then change it back on return, but is that all I need to do?

Do you mean EZ pass? Check the website to see if your transponder is compatible with the FL system, if it is, then yes, just change the plate on your account. I have EZ pass for MA and do use it in FL. I change the plate information to a rental and enter the plate number before I leave the rental garage. You may need to buy your own velcro to affix it to the windshield (mine is not a suction cup) - don't forget to remove it when you turn the car in! And then change the plate back. Very easy!

According to Google, Unipass is the new name for what the Central Florida Expressway toll authority used to call E-Pass Xtra (Their EZ-Pass compatible device). If that is the correct device, I don't see any issues beyond what you've already written up. Then again, I don't have any experience with using these devices in rental cars.
