It was an LLC with EIN for that particular card. Does that fit the other reports you've seen?

Thanks. All the DPs I’ve seen regarding these letters from Amex asking for business verification turned out to be targeting cards where the cardholder applied as some kind of formal business entity, not sole proprietorships. It appears to be Amex complying with know your customer regulations. I think Amex has been sending out these letters for the past two months or so.

Thanks. The packaging says to go online and create a pin, so I guess I'll just do that. Am I imagining that, creating one online has caused some people issues?

That happened to @DisneyMandC but she was loading $500 at once and it set off a fraud alert. Does it say any where that the pin is preset to the last four digits, but you can change it online. I think thats the wording that my cards normally say.

No, it just says "to set your PIN for PIN debit purchases (no ATM or cash access) visit www.mcgift.giftcardmall.com or call toll free..."
It's issued by MetaBank if that makes any difference.

What is the benefit to upgrading my biz green to a biz platinum vs just opening a new biz platinum? Isn’t the biz plat SUB 100k for 10k MSR? Just gotta call in to apply.

If you haven't gotten a biz plat SUB, open a new one for sure. I got a plat last summer, got the 100k MR for 10k MSR, then got an offer this spring to upgrade my biz green to ANOTHER biz plat for 50k for 10k MSR. So at the moment I have 2 Biz Plats in my wallet (and over 1k in AFs!) but I'm going to downgrade my OLD plat to a green. Who knows- maybe I will get to upgrade it to a Plat for points later on!

To answer your question - no benefit, unless you're ineligible for a SUB on the biz plat because of the once per lifetime language.

Edited to correct upgrade offer - 10k spend needed, not 5k!

I got the upgrade offer but called in and did the 100k biz plat first. I plan to upgrade also mostly to appease the Amex RAT but it’s also a good deal. I value the 50k MR at at least $500 cash. Plus x3 dell credits and x3 airline credits (I plan to upgrade in December and triple dip) i come out ahead and keep AMEX happy! Yes that one has free loads. There is no monthly fee if your balance is 0 at the statement close
