I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Sam's doesn't do $25 ones either in store or online. It's only within the last year or so that they even have ones under $100. Well, thinking about it, I guess I technically lie - they have a 3 pk of $25 cards that'll cost you $72 bucks. But I suspect that's not helpful :)

You could attempt to get a $25 from Walmart in store.
That’s true I could try to get one at Walmart. The only thing about sams club is there’s usually cashback and I don’t see it as often for Walmart

Has anybody used AA miles for Universal on-site hotels and completed their stay yet? I'm thinking of switching my URs booking to AA miles to get better value out of them (and since the URs have a much more tangible cash-out value).

I'm seeing that AAvacations with the throwaway rental car is better than hotel only with Useaamiles (that one ceases to amaze me, lol). At any rate - if anybody has done this let me know! I'd love to hear if it all worked smoothly.

I’m waiting on DH’s Delta Gold Biz. The approval email said 2-3 days but it has been a week. Just looked at the status page and it says 7-10 days. I guess I’ll give it until Monday. Impatient!
Yeah - Delta Gold Biz was in the mail box when I got home. Boo - just got home from back to school shopping without an MSR card! The Delta card was to pay Fall semester tuition so MSR is already taken care of so not as bad as it could be.

I still need another card.
.
I am thinking of
  • Capital One Venture - Got a mailer for 60K miles for 3K spend.
  • Hilton Surpass - 130K Hilton points + FWN for 4K spend (4 mo)
  • AMEX business card. Not sure which one. Like some others, not sure what to do with MRs so this is low priority but may be a good play for diversification. If I were to go for Business Plat it would probably be closer to the end of the year to make the 10K MSR easier to swallow.
Any thoughts?

Sams has an egc in $50 denomination. I just bought one the other day.

I did not know this. What's the Amex threshold?
I went back through the comments on the DoC page and it appears that people who got 1099s under $600 later received other 1099s from Amex bringing their total over $600- sorry about that, I didn't really stay up to date with that. So it looks like it was $600 but was determined by combining all Amex accounts.

That all said I would still plan to pay taxes on all referrals as this process is stupidly opaque and out of our control.

I’m interested in this too. I am about to book 2 nights at Portifino for our pre cruise in Nov 2020. It is only 100,000 AA for a club level room which would be over $1000 rack rate.

I hurt my back this morning doing yard work. I hope it’s just a muscle strain. It wasn’t an actual injury where I fell or ran into something, I think I just overdid the weeding. So I decided to sit with the heating pad on my back and spiff up my churning spreadsheet. It’s looking much much better. Leaving for our DW trip Wednesday morning so I gotta heal up before then!

I’m considering a rock star room at Hard Rock. I think my daughter would love it. I’m sure everything would be fine using AA miles but I’m always worried something stupid will go wrong (ie my URs issue with Universal Tix).

I agree. Sad there was no summer magnet! And these double festival magnets are killing me! I won’t be able to get Minnie so I will probably buy one off eBay. I didn’t get the Mickey cutting board last year because I heard about it too late and didn’t want to rework my short trip to run to Epcot more times. This year I will try to incorporate 4 swipes over 4 days, but I don’t want to make it unpleasant.

Since each passholder gets a magnet or gift after the visits I am willing to make it unpleasant. Last year our October trip was with my parents. For the fourth visit we drove to Epcot after finishing night at MK. Saturday night at Food and Wine with group of 7. It was a little scary! Still worth it though. The girls don’t care right now about things like a cutting board (or even really magnets) so I have a box for each of them that I am keeping their stuff for once they get older. Maybe kind of silly, but something I would have loved to get. I have the one I get and my husband gets to use and enjoy.

I mean... would it be ridiculous to uber to Epcot resort area everyday from AoA to scan in at International Gateway, and then go to another park? :rotfl:

I would do it. I think the coasters look even nicer than the cutting board. For free stuff for me it is worth the hassle to get there.

Since we will be new, first time PH'ers in a few days, I'm curious how this works? We aren't in those dates for those magnets. Is there a magnet for the peeps going now? Can you get more than one magnet, if you went again during those future dates?
As explained above they are pretty careful to make sure that everyone who qualifies gets one, but not more than one per person. If your daughter goes by herself in October if you wanted she could bring the AP's (either tickets or bands) for everyone else in your family. DH and I did that in April and got our own magnets plus magnets for each of the girls who were not there.

We got 4 of the tumblers in 2016 - we still use them all of the time - they are great glasses.

The tumblers were the BEST! I kept those and use all 5 of them. They are a set. :)

It was randomly generated. I just added the Y's lol. Im awful at coming up with username stuff. I was thinking about making a new account because I don't want anyone to think its a drug reference. I didn't even realize until my SO pointed that out.
With the "y" on the end, I didn't even think drugs/speed. I just thought you liked Nemo or something :rotfl2:
I also thought it was a Nemo reference! The SWs pic with it threw me off, but I never EVER thought it was a drug reference LOL
