Ok.. my turn. What is OD/OM?

I do have Safeway and Staples here. I have to say that Safeway is one grocery store I NEVER visit.

Are these $500 ones variable load or set at $500? (Although I don't suppose it makes a difference?)

I didn't see any fixed 500 just one's you could do up to 500 which is why I did 420. I don't need 500 unless it's fixed and gives me a deal. Benefit of a low mortgage. If I find fixed at any of them I'll post though.

I know I'm an outlier and freely admit I sometimes play with fire, but this is what I did -
4/18 CSR
4/18 CSP
5/18 CIC
10/18 Barclays AA Biz ( so, inquiry only)
2/19 SW Premier Biz
5/19 CIP
6/19 SW Priority

Your DH doesn't look too much different, so I'd think as long as you're not making a habit of applying quickly it'd be safe enough to do 6 - 8 weeks. Took a week for each SW card to get to me so take that into consideration and probably just hold out as long as you can. Did you have any plans for more Chase cards this year for him? Even if I wasn't forced to due to 5/24, I planned to avoid Chase for the rest of the year. Next year I'm eligible for the Chase Marriott cards so I'm holding out for that.
That’s what I need. Encouraging. You had 3 Chase Biz when you went for SW Premier?
I think Hilton Biz for DH, referred by me. DH has 3 Biz now.
I’ll finally be under 5/24 so I’m thinking CIP for me.
I'm exhausted from the horse show, but I have a great horse show hotel review to share with you all tomorrow. It involves a first for me: car races occurring in the hotel parking lot at 1:00 AM and two calls to the police. :sad2:
Can’t wait popcorn::

MAJOR DISchurners Announcement!
I am pleased to inform you that DISchurners has added THREE new female moderators.

When I created DISchurners back in the fall of 2017, I could never have envisioned DISchurners growing the way that it did (to now over 300 members). @Albort has assisted me as a mod since the beginning and @Lain was added in May of 2018 due to his substantial knowledge of churning and great contributions to our community.

A few weeks ago, I started to think about adding some additional moderators there to assist with overseeing our community. I also have noticed that we have a strong female presence on our thread, yet have no female moderators. We have selected three ladies to join the mod team and "even the scales" so to speak - all of them have been with our group since the start and are well respected in the community. We considered numerous people and it was a difficult decision due to the plethora of quality candidates, that said, please congratulate these ladies and help me welcome our newest DISchurners moderators:
Thanks to each of you for your willingness to help as mods AND thank you to everybody here on the thread for being great members of the best churning community out there!

@CaliforniaGirl09 I'm really enjoying your ABD post, but wanted to ask a question that I thought belonged here instead of there. When you switched your DH and DS's flights from JAL to ANA, what happened to points you used to book them on JAL (Avios IIRC)? Asking because I always struggle to transfer points early on (when the seats become available) since I don't think I can turn them back into MRs or URs if we cancel.
Great question! The avios were redeposited back in my account for a fee--I can't remember whether it was $50 or $95 for each ticket. They definitely cannot be turned back into MRs or URs. I viewed it basically as an insurance policy. DH and DS were guaranteed business seats in JAL, but as you have to wait later for the Virgin Air/ANA flights to release as those have to be a RT (the JAL bookings were one ways), if the better deal opened up I could redeposit. The key component for me is that we use Avios all the time. I fly to London multiple times a year (so far 6x this year) and my daughter goes to school there. I could speculatively transfer during bonuses as I knew we'd use them and I had enough left for the Virgin deal if it opened up.

Correct about using Qantas miles to book JAL, but we used MRs, not URs. And we were able to take advantage of a 20% transfer bonus. We were able to book the first day JAL released award seats. Not sure if that would have been the same timing using BA Avios.
Do you mean the date JAL releases award seats to its own frequent flyers? That would be a great DP. My understanding was that BA was the first partner to get them online (at the time AA had to call, but now they are online, too). Do you happen to know how many days back you booked?

Okay I just tried for the Hilton Biz and got the pop up. I have 4 Amex cards. I just closed my SPG Biz after 14 years of having it. I closed my Delta Gold personal in March to get the Delta Gold Biz.

My Amex Everyday (got in Jan) - I don't spend on it anymore (I did to hit the $1000 and 10k MR) but it has a lovely $4500 balance I'm paying on monthly.

My Hilton Aspire has been used on and off. I got it in Dec 18 and hit it hard to get the bonus.

My Hilton Surpass (got in Oct 17) has had limited spending on it. But I did sign my DD up for a card and spent on it to get the bonus for that (in May). And I have it now set for Hulu and Netflix I think. And my monthly Young Living Oils (which is $100+)

My Delta Gold Biz got in Mar/Apr and hit the spend FAST! Have this set as a recurring payment for my kids doctor bills - $40-80/mo and do other small spending here and there.

So I feel like I'm good on making sure spends happen. The one probably neglected is the Aspire. It's had maybe 2 months with no spend. And I haven't spent on the Everyday but I'd think having a balance would negate the lack of spending there. So how do I get out of popup hell? Here I thought Amex loved me....Waaaaaah!
I feel for you. Unless I have some huge spend like a cruise to pay off it's hard for me to meet the bonus spends and still use my other cards. I have 3 amex I really like and I consider keepers, but if I'm trying to make a MSR on a Chase card they'll see little use.
There's only one other Amex I might get and that's the Hilton business. I'm going to try for it next month before I get on their naughty list.

No, I have 3 biz total now including Premier, so that's a fair point. I was mostly looking at pacing and in general number of cards shown to Chase. But it's not outside the realm of possibility to go for #4, especially with a revenue generating biz (I assume, using the rental for DH too?) I use a less than 1k "biz" for mine so I'm a little more risky on having 4 open. But only you can decide your risk tolerance. I'd push it out as long as you could if you really want it.

Finally caught up! Got home late yesterday from Cali (5 days at DL and 2 days in San Diego/La Jolla). Had a great trip! DL was great, we used a 7 night cat 1-4 N/F cert at Springhill Suites Anaheim Maingate. I'd definitely recommend this resort! Very clean, friendly staff, great free bfast every morning. We used the ART to get to the park, which worked well. Next time (yes, already planning next time!) would like to stay close enough to walk though. Loved WoC, we splurged and did the dessert party which was a great experience. Visited SWGE several times, it was awesome! Rode Smugglers Run 3 times (per the kiddos' request). It's beautiful at night, even DH was impressed! Visited Oga's too, which was fun but don't need to go back anytime soon.

Kids loved Sea World, would really like to take them to SW Orlando sometime. We also went to the beaches in a Jolla to the sea lion/ seal beach, which was really neat! There were tons of them just hanging out on the beach.

From a churning perspective, Springhill suites was a SPG cert, La Jolla Shores hotel was UR points. DL tix were about 75% paid using DH Arrival plus SUB, and about 75% of SW tix were using my remaining Arrival plus sub. Rental car was using UR points. Airfare was using CP and SW RR points. So not a completely free trip but greatly reduced and made possibly thanks to churning and this thread! :) :) :)

FYI: Universal's buy 2 get 3 free promotion ends Tuesday (yes, I'm posting this reminder to myself since I keep procrastinating...haha)

https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/tickets-packages/deals-specialsPlay more with five days for the price of two. Purchase by Jul. 31 and use by Dec. 20, 2019.

And additional note = you can use URs to buy tickets on this promotion.

No idea why they are on HBO but I love that they show the Mighty Duck movies. And I have them on dvd but for some reason it's just easier to watch them this way. Though I admit I watched the 3rd one at work a couple weeks ago, it's my favorite. First one is on now, Flying V! Which means if I don't catch the 2nd one soon I'm going to have to pull the dvd out so I can go the jr goodwill games.

These movies, along with the not often spoken about Andre, gave me my love for Joshua Jackson 😍 Which is probably why the 3rd is my favorite since that was high school so it's more age appropriate though I was of the age of the kids in the movies when they came out.

I also really enjoy the music, the pop songs are fine but the instrumental stuff and how it flows between all three movies really aids in the story cohesiveness.

For a certain sub-set of my dates, I can see CBR and AKL. This actually has me somewhat discouraged. It’s now likely not an IT glitch that has the resorts missing. They just aren’t making them available. I have 2 months to wait this out before I plan to book but I’m now fully preparing to cash out my AA miles for gift cards.
This kind of sorta fits with what we frequently see on the PL deals. Those two, along with CS, tend to be the available resorts when I check further out dates. As you get closer, more inventory hits. Maybe it will be the same with AA but I’d be concerned about not being booked early enough for FP’s and just peace of mind :(

Now that I have my Disney resort through AA how do I go about adding magical express and all that? How do I add it to my Disney experience to make fast passes and stuff? I’m guessing I have to call the number we use to get a Disney confirmation instead of aa confirmation number?

Someone just posted they were able to purchase without issue a few minutes ago.
I had a problem once where despite it saying I used a GC to pay it picked up a dead CC I have saved on the account so the order got stuck in limbo. I chatted to get it cancelled, then re-purchased and it went through fine that time. So occasionally the system glitches out. Hoping that's all that happened to the OP.
Or the 50-60 uses in a year tripped something. Do people really buy Amazon GCs once a week to turn into another GC? Is that a normal volume?
I just purchased an e-gift card. Order went through but waiting in the card I’ll keep everyone posted

Nice I love San Diego! How was the weather and crowds at DLR?

Yeah, that’s still good. I didn’t finish my thoughts.

You could’ve stacked Amazon GCs you bought, for example, at an office supply store for 5x UR to pay for the discounted balance of the third-party GC. Other than these deals and lightning deals on certain third-party GCs (e.g., iTunes), I can’t think of when rolling an Amazon GC into a third-party GC is a better deal. Because deals on Amazon GCs are typically harder to come by than deals on third-party cards.

Sucks anyway.
I've been buying Amazon cards with 10% cc offers and then adding them to my balance to purchase grocery GCs. It may be too early in the morning for me so perhaps I'm not understanding what has supposedly happened, but I just attempted to do this again as a test by adding a grocery GC to my Amazon cart and then going to checkout. It looked like it was going to use my Amazon balance for payment as usual.

I didn't think the crowds were bad at DLR, although I don't have much to compare to. There were a lot of people there for sure, but a lot of FP /Maxpass availability for rides. Weather was warm at first and then got hot (mid 90's) but cool at night. Not much humidity though so definitely bearable. We did take a short break every afternoon around 2-5.

What was reported was the order went through but then was cancelled and the GC balance refunded, so not a problem with checkout. But there's two counter-reports of it working as expected, one on r/churning and one from @kidsfirsttrip . Personally, I think something else happened to the original reporter, but it's always good to keep on your toes with GC>GC plans - things can dry up at anytime.
