I applied for the barclay aa biz 2 weeks ago and it went pending. I got a letter in the mail asking for a copy of my liscence, ss card and a utility bill, which I sent off this am. Not thrilled about mailing a copy of my ss card, but I did.

Hopefully I get approved and can ask for a match to the new offer

I'm pushing myself to apply for a new card! Just having a hard time with jumping aboard the gravy train - I don't know why, but I think it's because I just want to clean up everything, so when I hit Chase in a year there will be no reason to not approve me.

So, I want to do it now because I would like to add a night or two to my DVC trip in February at probably AKL or Grand Floridian - not using my DVC points - I'd like to do Concierge level and have my brother over for drinks and snacks - I would add him to my room but he would stay at his daughters over in Reunion. He's quite a bit older and not interested in paying to sit on a bench in the parks, but likes to visit the resorts and has done so as a visitor with me in the past.

I started a late booking at BWV - 11 month booking window had passed so I'm hopscotching to get a reservation together in standard view for my week. Garden view was available and I booked it in segments with waitlists for missing standard nights. I'm still missing 2 nights but got 5 out of 7 so far. It's a tedious process but it will work out. I will do a total of two weeks, with a trip to the beach as well as DVC and hopefully a free CL room if I can get some AA points going. In any case I have rooms, but I've got preferences so will be monitoring this so it all falls into place.

love booking the standard view rooms at BWV too..such a point saver....:tinker: you get the two nights that are missing

I don't think many people here participate in Choice Hotels for points very often (though I know @afan mentioned it can be good for European stays), but we end up staying at Choice a lot for cheaper horse show hotel options. I just realized you can do a status match to them from another hotel brand. I'm going to send them my Marriott status and see what they say. I assume it will only match me to Choice Gold status, but that does provide additional point payouts on each stay, which will be helpful to us. I have ten more nights booked with them so far this year!

Thanks. Yes, love stretching my points! However, I always have a car and like a room down by the tennis courts for easy access. The lobby area rarely sees me - out the back door to the car, to the bus and/or to walk to the studios or even Epcot by cutting across the driveway or down the stairs! (At least so long as I am healthy and not carrying kids/pushing strollers.) February should be a by myself trip, so doing a studio. One bedrooms are necessary when grands and daughter come and 2 bedroom when son in law comes. He's done Disney and HH and the beach with us in the past but usually takes a pass most of the time now. (I think he likes peace and quiet at home.) The 2 nights are booked garden view so I'm in a room but if my waitlist comes I won't have to move. The missing first night is the Sunday before Presidents Day - worst case I cancel GV and spend the day at the beach or drive to Vero before my Disney trip. Maybe I'll go on there and book an Ocean View Inn Room just in case - I have 39 VB points available for Feb. I was saving them to beef up a Hilton Head trip since I never have enough HH points. I'm also working on a late March trip so that I can do Flower and garden next year, but haven't booked yet. I think that will be 2-3 nights Disney and more beach days on Marriott's dime. Don't really have a plan for the March nights - may look at Swan, or Riviera ?? just to try it out?

CIP MSR done and SUB (guess that acronym did catch on) is showing in points on next statement. Yay!!!

Now I'm simultaneously working on my Bonblech Brilliant and DH's IHG. So weird that the IHG is a mastercard- can't remember the last time I had one of those. Anyway, nice to have another spend in the works so that when my Amex doesn't apply I can still put stuff towards an MSR.

Got the following SM from Barclays after asking them to match the current SUB for P2:
"We have completed your request to forward your account for review on your AAdvantage Aviator Business Card account. We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to service your financial needs. Should you have any questions, we are available at www.AviatorBusinessCard.com or at (866) 383-0361 from 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM ET, Monday through Saturday. Thank you, Business Card Services"
The message is marked as "Complete". Do I send them another message in a few days to check on it?

This sounds good!

Agree! 50k a night for Swolphin is just dumb, which is why I cannot use 50k points per night there. It's like $125/night for some of our Aug nights if we were paying cash. And I feel like someone on the PL thread said they got Swolphin for just under $100 recently.
I'd love to see those rates there....the only dates I've ever checked have been 300+ a night

Okay back with more questions and don’t want to abuse @SouthFayetteFan PMs haha

1. After SFF gave me the details I think I’ll make my first hop CSP
2. I was thinking of making my second a Hilton card. My current points plus their bonus points plus the rewards make a free trip for me essentially and MSR is easy (for us haha) Probably the middle level ($95 AF)

(No CSR right now as I need to show my husband how this works before his brain can handle a $450 annual fee haha)

Questions-
1. I’d want to wait to refer P2 until these meet the MSR simply so we don’t have such a large MSR total yes? He's taking two courses for work he has to pay for upfront (gets reimbursed later) that I’d like to time with all of this as its 2k right there.

2. Do you have corresponding checking accts for these CCs? We have two checking accounts (a credit union and BOA). My thought is it’d be easier to open a Citi (Hilton) and Chase checking acct to go with the CCs so I am not figuring out how to transfer funds but is that how everyone else plays it? Have to be careful as the credit union doesn’t care how much we give it but BOA is a fickle beast and must be fed a certain $ lest he get fee happy. I don’t want to close BOA because its been my account for a long time and its always been in good standing. We like to keep the credit union because its a grandfathered account we can’t get back later.

Anyway- thoughts?

We’ve gotten Dolphin at $170 a night with AAA discount and my dad had a senior discount on Swan at about $150/night. This is pre-resort fees though. The key I think is mid week check in and using their flexible date calendar to see where your cheapest option is. (And all of that and then we switched to a Hilton anyway haha)

Did you see their latest promotion for bonus points? Someone mentioned it in the DD thread on r/churning yesterday and it seems like a good option for you if you have at least 2 stays by Aug 9.
https://www.choicehotels.com/deals/gift-card

So they are advertising a gift card, but it's just bonus points that could be used for a gift card. You don't have to (and probably shouldn't) redeem them for one of the discounted GC options. You get anywhere between 5k and 8k, depending on your base points earned. I imagine the full T&C has the criteria for what amount you'll get to plan accordingly.

I didn't give it to him. And yes, they play tag team trying to get me up between 3 and 4ish as when I worked, they got fed early.

Now, there are mornings I want to laze in bed so they don't get fed until 7am. Since one is a urinary issue, I have to monitor what is eaten. The Persian will self regulate and does not gorge even when food is constantly available. She maintains at about 9 pounds. The orange tabby would eat it all and hurt himself and make yucchy messes for me. Because of his issue I feed him 4 times a day when I am there, which is most of the time now. Anything past what he is allotted and he throws it up. All the time.
Stay strong! lol

I had a friend who used to cat sit for one like your tabby.

Have you done this yet? I was googling it and just seeing some articles say you can only do it once a lifetime, and you should do it after July 1st... https://loyaltylobby.com/2018/07/09...lid-through-2020-united-states-canada-europe/
DoC reports that the Daily Getaways have previews out for weeks 4 and 5 now. I see Universal tickets in Week 4. Week 5 has Hyatt and Hilton point purchases.

Ooh, I forgot to look last night as I was wiped when I got home.
