Ok now I'm looking into WAEPA, and using the calculator I can get up to $650k in coverage for the same bi-weekly cost as FEGLI. What am I missing here? This seems like a tremendously better idea. Is FEGLI a bad deal? I suppose I know what I am doing today.
I need to check this out too. DH's term policy runs out the year younger DD graduates college. However, now I'm thinking I will need to have him insured another 5-10 years. This is going to cost me.

I must be losing my mind (or lacking immense amounts of sleep). For some reason I have on my spreadsheet that the AF was waived for our CIPs last year. I have no idea where that came from lol.
I'm sure you are lacking sleep. You have so much going on! International trip, big move, new job for DH, plus all the normal responsibilities. It is alot! Hang in there friend!

Thank you to everyone for your tips/experiences with moving. I think the plan right now is to pay the extra $ for the movers to pack our stuff, move it for us, and ship one of our cars. We then will drive our two cats down in my car and stop about halfway or a little over halfway. We’ll pack all important stuff and irreplaceable items in the car with us.
Sounds the least stressful. Glad your DH agreed! WHoohoo, one less thing on the list!

Well he’s not fully on board yet....he keeps saying this morning “but it’ll save us so much money”. I told him I compare it to how we pay to stay at a deluxe because of convenience. That seemed to actually work because now he seems more on board with them moving us.

Just curious but how come? I got 20-year term when my son was a newborn and my daughter was not quite two. If I were to die when they are 20 and 21, they’d inherit my assets. College is basically covered through 529s. I thought once this policy expires I’d go without. I really only had it so that if I were to die my now ex could pay for a nanny, etc. (was a SAHM but went back to work once we separated).

Add in trying to sell our stuff, seeing family again before leaving for Japan, our band practices and last gig, Dh just finding out only 2.5 weeks of our Japan trip/time before new job is paid vacation (which makes sense but not what we were planning on). I think the last one is really what has made him want to move ourselves but he said he’ll wait until the moving company tells us how much $ and how long it’ll take

Just applied for CIP #2 and got the we need more time message. Was hoping for an instant approval (my last three were) so now I'll be checking the status line constantly! I got noticed from Credit Karma (pulled Transunion) and Experian that they pulled my credit report so it seems like they pulled both - is that normal?

A couple of other churning notes - I received my SPG biz free night cert also. My card renewed in Feb, so they really must award them in batches. Also, I SM'd Chase for a match on DH's SW Premier card to request a match to the 60k RR offer. They didn't really answer the question, they just said he hadn't met the requirements yet (he was about $300 away from the min spend at the time). So, I'll try again in a few days once he's met it. I'd probably read that before that with Chase you have to meet the requirements before requesting a match but had forgotten that.

Chase always pulls both TU and EX for me. It is annoying b/c EX is the only one I couldn't get my amex AU removed from yet so it technically is counting towards my 5/24.

So sounds like close to 12 weeks for those certs. Ugh.

Great analogy! In my experience, even moving day WITH movers is exhausting. Of course, I've always done it with little kids and coincidently DH often seems to be on a work trip... but thats another story. Hopefully it works out and he does the movers.

I "inherited" another child late in life. So while her college tuition is mostly covered, I'm still paying for incidentals. I have no plans to go back to work, and if I were forced to, I would not be making nearly enough to cover DH's salary.

If you really want a CIC, why not PC the CIP that’s about to turn one year to a CIC and apply for a CIP through the other CIP’s support link?

If you get a CIC, the base rate on all spend is at least 17.6x UR (50k SUB + at least 3k UR from MSR —> 53k UR/ $3k = 17.6). However, the CIC does have foreign transaction fees so it’s not practical to use it in Japan.

If you get the CIP via one of your support links, that’s at least 105k URs for $5k of spend, which is a return of at least 21x UR on that MSR.

@Haley R this is what I just did except with the CIU. I p/c'd my original CIP to a CIU b/c I wanted one for non cat spend and got a new CIP b/c the sign up bonus/referral points were much better.

A few weeks back we had to push our WDW trip by one day...arrive a day later and leave a day later...due to finding out that hockey tryouts were overlapping our trip.
Well, the only decent flight out was 5am.
I figured we could at least still get to our FPs. We have them back to back starting at 9:35 for Mine train. We land at 8:05. Who thinks I can get to MT by 10:35?
My other options is rebook flights b/c they have come down (though still more than the 5am) and do them at 11:55am and do DAH MK that night.

ETA: Hmmnnn, TPA actually has good flight times and they are cheap. Maybe I should consider flying to/from there.

Yep, here in CA, Chase always pulls both EQ and EX for P2's and my apps. Good luck on approval!

My DW’s SPG Biz was opened last year February and she also got her FN cert as part of what looks like a batch that went out on 5/2.

I’d ask again until you get a more definite answer. Even when they say you haven’t met the requirements yet, sometimes they’ll say message us when you’ve met the MSR and we’ll give you the extra points.

Got it. As a single parent, I guess my situation is different. My kids financially would be okay at this point if I were to die so I guess I’m fine without getting a new policy in six years.

I am curious too. I’ve had FEGLI for almost 28 years. But I am hoping to take early out in 5/6 years when DS graduates.

I’ll ask Dh when he gets home what he wants to do. We may wait until after the move to apply for a new card. If we do decide to wait, we’ll definitely PC the CIP to a CIC (actually we’ll probably do this no matter what)

I just have to speak with Dh because I’m not sure if we want to go for another $5k MSR right away. We just have a lot on our plates right now

I’ll always advocate for DAH lol

Can anyone confirm for me? Can I sign up for the business and personal Southwest cards at the same time or must I wait? I'm 3/24 with Chase right now. I have this offer in my Chase "For You" offers.

I could meet the minimum spend on both this month. That would be 120,000 Southwest points plus however many I earn on the actual spend. :)

How long would I need to wait until applying for another CIP? (I applied for my first on 3/1/19.)
