Thank you! I was hoping for higher offers on these soonish. Since SW from our home airport now sucks (EWR), we're looking to move over to Jetblue. EWR, SWF, and HPN are all options for us there. Gonna get my husband the business card, maybe the personal as well.

I'm currently carrying a 0% balance on a very old Barclay card (will be paid off by November), so don't think they'd approve me or I'd probably do them too. Or maybe I'll look into paying that off sooner and putting some spend on it so maybe they'd approve me too?

Quoting myself to say I thought about it and decided to go for the Jetblue biz card for myself. Instant approval. 14k limit. Guess they like that I'm carrying a balance on my other card. I figured worst case, they deny me and I'd have my husband apply. My gamble paid off. We may hold off on him applying for now, have to decide if we want to "buy" another 60k miles for $95 (annual fee).

Isn’t the new employer giving you help with that?
We have a capped limit for moving and it’ll be taken up by closing costs, realtor fees, and the moving company. Otherwise, yes they would cover it and the trip we just took
I’d hesitate to recommend flying with any pet after recent horror stories. Would you take them in the cabin? If they yowl the whole time, you will have very unhappy fellow passengers as well as kitties. If you put them in cargo there are issues with temperature regulation, plus airlines have been known to send them on wrong planes as well as multiple reports of pets getting loose and lost. Years ago, we were getting a puppy from out of state and they would ship it. Instead we drove a couple states away to pick her up. She cried a lot on the way home, I won’t lie. But the thought of her locked up, alone, in the cargo hold was too much for me.
Yeah I really do think we’re gonna drive now. It’s such a long ways but it’ll be hopefully better for all of us. Now we need to look into a large enough kennel for both kitties and a litter box

Am I missing something with the CIP and Plastiq? I’ve met my MSR on both my and dh’s CIP. Besides 3x points is there any other big benefit? (I have about $30,000 to run through Plastiq and want to maximize the value.)

I contemplated getting the Southwest card, but that would put me at 4/24. Otherwise my plan was to use my Hhonors Amex and DH business Hhonors Amex to earn 2 free night certificates.

Omg that’s horrible! One of our cats is microchipped and the other isn’t so Dh wanted to get him chipped if we go the plane route. The only thing with driving is it makes Dh want to move stuff ourselves and I really don’t want to. I just don’t want to deal with buying things to pack stuff up plus we aren’t experienced at all with packing and moving things. Decisions decisions
Driving doesn’t mean having to move everything. I wouldn’t let movers take everything anyway. They have been known to arrive days later than scheduled while you are without stuff. I’d pack the cats, some necessities, valuables and drive. Let the movers take the rest. How are your cars getting there if you fly, pay to transport those also?

Dh said if we’re driving we might as well move everything ourselves so I need to convince him that’s not a good idea. We would take the essentials like you mentioned. Our cars are shipped for free

Driving with you and kitties is far different than moving all your belongings. I’ve done it to move a few miles, I’d never do it cross country. Too much stress and driving a moving truck is not easy, at least for me.

Good luck.

We’ll see if he’ll come around. Thanks for your input though. We’re gonna wait until they quote us for the move and see how much they quote us for. We really don’t have much stuff since they’re leaving the new house furnished in some places

I don’t think there are any other benefits. Plastiq has a 2.5% fee so you get to make an extra 0.5x UR back, then hopefully send your points to a CSR for the redemption bonus. It can be pretty lucrative if you can run some high spend through Plastiq & have a good plan for those points. I wish I could take advantage of it but this thread lets me vicariously.

You’ll be paying $375 each for those free night certificates, so hopefully you can get good value out of them.

I did this to save money when we moved from ny to va. A five hour trip. And never again lol it is such a pain. We also had only a 450 square foot studio apartment to pack and it was still awful

@CyndiLouWho said what I was going to say. I've driven the uhaul across the country from WA to NC and back and I don't care if I move 10 miles across town I'm not doing it myself. Though with that short I'd be fine driving the truck but not the loading and unloading. Anything out of state someone else can do, ESPECIALLY if someone else is paying for it.

It's a giant pain in the butt and it's not fun. If you did it yourself you'd have to tow one of the cars, because really either way in order for the cars to be there when you get there they'll have to leave IA before you do. Or they leave when you do and you are car less in FL and have to rent. Either way I'd drive one of the cars down and let them move the other. Cost wise, it's not going to save anything and someone else is paying. It's just more stress. They aren't fun to drive, you have to rely on your mirrors and be a more confident driver than you are in your car.

And then there's the whole, Someone else is PAYING to move the stuff so you don't have to. Pack up the car with the guitars, some clothes, the cats, valuables and any papers that are sensitive that you don't want lost. When you sit and think about it, the car is for the stuff you don't want to lose but it's stuff you wouldn't want/be able to take if you did fly, not even thinking about the cats. But the bed that the movers move or the box of towels etc, I can live without those for a few days and I have insurance so if something happens to them I can just go buy new ones. But moving sucks, take the stress out of doing it yourself because you can.

Need info on using plastiq with a Heloc @Lain @SouthFayetteFan Please :D

Since it’s a MasterCard you can pay any supported expense with Plastiq - I often just pay my HELOC via Plastiq with a MasterCard to hit MSR. Then pay off the card with money from my HELOC via my checking account.

Same user - a whole exchange of comments: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/b7m6o3/question_thread_march_31_2019/ejt0z4c/

Other than this guy, there hasn't been a whole lot of discussion on this in the last 6-9 months.

Basically...fund money from HELOC into checking. Payoff HELOC balance using Plastiq. The quicker you do it, the less interest you'll pay.

EDIT: And you're probably talking roughly $1 in interest per $1,000 for approx. a week so VERY minimal

Here is my off topic post for the day... I've got a haircut tomorrow. Since I scheduled it 2 weeks ago, I've been debating what I want to do with it... my hair is out of control long wnd I kind of want to do something different and have an idea that is a shorter cut (for me)... but I'm a big wimp and anxious because the only time I truly cut my hair shorter vs just getting it trimmed was back in middle school. I'm being completely crazy, yes. Lol.

Do it! Hair grows back.

The good thing about hair is that grows back. I change mine up all of the time and love to try new things.

I’m in the long hair for life camp! It feels too short to me right now and it’s about mid-back length.
