NFCU has a change machine in branch? Not one bank in our area has them any more.
Ours doesn’t have one anymore. But the cashier said she would count it. I declined and said we will bring it back rolled. Still haven’t done it though.

Ahhh I kept checking name tags for univ of Tennessee but I must have missed her :(

What do they go for? We've got 8 now lol, I guess I'm not a big plane drinker.

I love rewatching :)
Our last flight many were using the drink coupons. We haven’t gotten any in a long time. Maybe this is why so many ordered if they are buying them cheap.

:offtopic:Well two hour in on the ten hour drive. Didn’t have time to write up the character meals. So here goes... it’s been 2 adults and 3 kids each meal. Also we have had others join us at time and that hasn’t changed our experience. We used the dining plan most of the time but have paid for some out of pocket. Also we have food allergies.
Listed in no specific rating.

Bon Voyage at trattoria al forno- character interaction is great. They spend time talking and stay in character. Youngest dd loves playing hide and seek with Flynn every time. Ask to see the crown as he has it in his satchel. The dancing around the restaurant is fun for the kids. Food has been great. Chef has made most of the items to meet our allergies. We do this every trip.

Storybook dinner at artist point- evil queen was great. Snow White came by smiled for a picture but didn’t really interact with us. She didn’t answer the kids questions or bother to try to listen to a quick story. She definitely rushed. Dwarfs were animated with their actions and didn’t seem to rush off like Snow White. Food was great. Apps and dessert are small portioned so you get each one for everyone in your party no sharing required. Chef was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely do this again.

Tusker house at animal kingdom- kids love the safari outfits and dancing in the conga line with the characters around your area is the dining room. Buffet style and decent assortment. Food has been good here and we look forward to eating here as it’s a break in the day for lunch or dinner. Characters have spent time and then some times it felt rushed. They have had the same chefs for lunch and dinner for years. Not sure if it’s good that they remember us. We do this every trip.

Crystal palace at MK- buffet style. We did dinner once and haven’t been back. Characters rushed by for a quick pic and no interaction. We did dinner. Other reviews said good things so we tried it. Food was same nothing special. Chef wasn’t the friendliest. They do cross contaminate so two of us didn’t eat. He wasn’t willing to try to make anything for us because they were too busy.

Be our guest at MK- great food! Pic with beast was nice and there was a line but they didn’t rush you with interactions. Kids each got to dance with him and talk. Now that it’s 2 credits on the dining plan not sure if we would repeat. Especially since we like doing breakfast and lunch here. But definitely was worth it once. If money wasn’t an issue we would do it again. You can request which room to eat in, rose room did have a longer wait but only 5 minutes when we went.

Cinderella royal table at MK- it’s the castle. We have done this several times just because it’s in the castle. Princesses have been great and sometimes rushed. Food has been good but smaller portion compared overall to other table service. Kids like getting their wand/sword and wishing star. They have played with them at home which is nice. Cinderella pic seems rushed and not much interaction. The princesses that come around the table do interact more and make it worth it. Kids enjoy going and ask for it every visit but for the price we try to do this every couple years vs every visit.

Hollywood and Vine at HS- well we have done breakfast, lunch, and dinner several times. Food is never anything to jump up and down. If it’s the only way to meet a character then it is worth it maybe. After the last two times here we won’t be going back. Service is poor and just not like other Disney table service. Also doesn’t help that the server lost my gift card when we were paying and the manger was awful. Out $590 and they wouldn’t do anything about it. Same manger is still there after two years. We went just for vampirina for dd birthday as it was the only way to meet her. Gave to another shot and the food and service is just not good. Plus characters always seem rushed here.

Garden grill at EP- moving restaurant sometimes doesn’t rotate. We have only done breakfast here and it’s been good. Characters are fun and chip and dale played games with the kids. Family style but had no problem getting more of certain foods. We eat here every couple of trips.

Akershus in EP- we have done breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We like dinner the best. Great way to meet the princesses without paying for Cinderella royal table. They do little parade around the restaurant. Characters have been good with the interactions. Only once did it seem rushed. The buffet for apps and then individual main dish. Shared dessert. We eat here every other trip.

1900 park fare in grand Floridian- breakfast and dinner. We prefer dinner here. The interactions with the step mother and sisters are never disappointing. Prince charming always makes the girls feel like true princesses. Food is good for a buffet. If you can get there when they open the wall plays music. This is one we do at least every other trip if not every.

Ohana in Polynesian- breakfast for characters. Stitch is fun and why we come here. Food is good for family style. Service always seems slow here but we normally aren’t in a rush when we come here so it’s not too bad. We eat here every other trip.

Mickeys backyard - we did this once. Food was ok. Characters had lines to see them. The dancing was fun for the kids. For a evening it was a nice change from the parks. (FWIW if I had to choose this or hoop de doo I’d do hoop de doo. Kids seemed to enjoy that more)

Cape May - breakfast. One and done for us. Characters barely walked by and only two stopped for a pic. Kids didn’t have a chance to even talk with them. Food was typical breakfast buffet. Chef was useless. Didn’t know what was in half the dishes. Wasn’t willing to accommodate allergies.

Chef mickeys in the contemporary - dinner only here for us. I could take it or leave it here. Kids love it more for the characters and desserts. Typical buffet. Characters have been good here. They take their time and it’s not rushed. Food has gotten better the last time we went this past March. Service has been good and chefs have been changing. Had three different chefs between April and October 2018 and March 2019. They don’t have the Mickey plate statue anymore :-( kids liked getting their picture before we ate.

Sorry for all the edits but since I’m on the phone didn’t want it to lose the post.

In today's episode of How Many Ways Can We Come Up with to Take your Money by Disney: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/cinderella-royal-table-package/

I'd just like to point out that the dessert party is a flat $69... this package has tax/tip added which makes it $225.44pp

Wow, it also states if you cancelled less then 48 hours prior to your reservation, you get charged full price. Imagine if a child gets sick and you need to cancel? I wonder if you cancel, does Disney then sell your spot to someone else? Probably and then they get paid twice.

I just registered with the US authorized retailer for the Tokyo Olympics ticket lottery!! It says that the ticket lottery opens on May 9 for residents of Japan. It was kind of unclear when other countries start, I wasn't sure if it was May 9 or later. But I signed up for all the email notifications and put down equestrian jumping as my first choice, so hopefully I get some info soon!

@afan and @wendow Everything you wanted to know about being Gucci courtesy of Urban Dictionary. :rotfl2: We have 3 Krogers in this town and to distinguish them everyone knows there is Gucci Kroger, Ghetto Kroger and Student Kroger. I personally prefer Ghetto Kroger.

Gucci - A versatile slang term based on the luxury fashion brand meaning okay/good/great/awesome/fresh/etc. Originally used in the streets but now popularized by the masses. Sometimes abbreviated "gooch" if you're an expert in its use. To be all Gucci is a wonderful thing indeed.
"Hey. How are you? Haven't seen you in a while. Everything okay?"
"Yeah everything's Gucci. I've just been busy."

OMG Edited to take out the links I didn't realize where there. Let's just say that "gooch" has more than one meaning so be careful with that one.

This is unacceptable. I hope you didn't pay for the two that didn't eat. I would definitely send Disney an email that two members of your party had food allergies and the chefs did not accommodate them.

Out $590 and they wouldn’t do anything about it. Same manger is still there after two years.

This is really unacceptable!!! the server lost your $590 gift card???? I would maybe even call Disney and say that if they don't handle this you will be filling a police report. What if she stole it? you handed her the gift card and didn't get it back.

@miztressuz - my free night (Marriott SPG card) has finally posted - dated 5/2 - I see it this morning 5/3.
Thank you!!!! Same here. I checked at some point yesterday and it wasn't there. They ninja-ed it in there. 61 days from the email. I went back and calculated @Alexle2007 's timeline and 62 days there as well. Ugh, having to wait 60 days is crazy if this is the new norm.

Dosh - I have a ton of staples around me. I didn’t get the offer on my app. DH got it in his. I linked my CIC - did x3 trips and nothing credited. So annoying!!!!!

@afan and @wendow 40’s are totally the new 30’s (I’m 43)!!!
I just don't get how Dosh works, for some, shows up for some but doesn't work, and then neither shows up or works.
Add me to the club, I turned 41 yesterday. I'm not that hip though I guess, I've never heard of using Gucci other than the brand!

This is the closest DP I’ve found in a quick search to your situation: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/alo181/question_thread_january_31_2019/efgaff2/ It doesn’t look good. Chase support points go pending on Tuesday afternoons, but always post with statement close. (You might’ve been thinking of Amex support points that post a few days after approval, independent of statement close.) If your card is closed, Chase may take away any pending UR. @SouthFayetteFan, any thoughts? If it’s not too late (usually within 30 days), you can ask Chase if they would reopen your CIP account and hope those URs are still there. I think what you could’ve done in a time crunch to avoid the AF is PC your CIP to a no fee CIC/CIU, wait for the support points to post, then close out the card. Good luck!

It is showing statement close on the now closed CIP of May 13. Points pending and set to post on statement close. Do you think it is worth sending a sm to product change it now? It would have been closed around April 13. My hesitation in not giving it a try is I want to go for another CIP June 1 and don’t want them flagging my account or anything. (When I go for CIP it won’t be quite 3 months since CIC approval of March 11).

I don’t have advice for this particular one unfortunately. I hope you get your points. Reopening and PC is an option to try for sure. Or you could see if they post when the next stmt closes...it could happen (maybe??)

Definitely a lesson for folks to pay attention on though. When I close cards (or consider my PC options) there’s always a lot of thought around any pending points to make sure all is ok there. Sorry you’re caught up in this mess.

Yes we got charged for us even though we didn’t eat because we were there. I asked to be credited the dining credits but the restaurant and pofq desk wouldn’t do it.

The gift card was a fiasco. Instead of my kids remembering their first 5k race they remember the lost gift card. I really kept my cool in front of them. Had it not been for their presence I would have caused a scene. After spending all afternoon and the next day working with guest services and dvc I was able to get my card info. Under 2 weeks from my first trip to Disneyland and California, I'm super excited about it. Things changed and now I'm spending almost two weeks traveling, which I'm breaking up in 3 "mini" trips.
1st is disneyland- staying at the 4 points sheraton anahiem booked 5 nights using 70,000 Marriott points (I actually have two rooms booked given the group who is going so grand total of 140,000 points for 10 nights)...hoping this is going to be a good choice. Bought the 3 day park tickets from the ticket promotion. Booked a rental car through costco and I keep checking to rebook when the cost goes down. I've been reading through the disneyland board and think I have a good handle on maxpass and hoping touring around the park. So far only have 1 lunch reservation to Blue Bayou, I need to look if there are anymore I'm interested in booking. I plan to do grocery/costco run after we fly in, and appears to be one north of disneyland so that will be convenient.
2nd San Diego-work portion of my trip, still hoping to visit the zoo and do some sight seeing.
3rd Pacific coast highway, all hotels booked using Marriott points on the way to San Fransisco. Only going to be me and my sister during this portion and the goal was to minimize out of pocket cost at least for hotels.

Sharing since it is slightly churning related. Finishing my CIP MSR, given my recent citi failure I'm just planning on optimizing my spend on my current cards as I likely wouldn't get the card in time. I'll plan to use my SPG LUX credit on the work hotels in san diego as those aren't booked on points and use my SPG LUX for the car rental insurance as the only other car with primary car rental insurance is my CIP. Any suggestions for my trip would be appreciated!

ETA: flights from southwest RR points and companion pass!
Depending on the size of your group I recommend Napa Rose Chef’s Counter for dinner one night. You have to call to reserve as you can’t book it online.

Finishing up my trip accounting so here's where we ended up.

Flights: 9k RRs + CP one way, 26k URs home on United (earning 860pts each)

Night 1: Pop via Hotels.com $211 - GC stash = $30ish OOP (plus portals, plus free night credit, etc gets me ~$30 back)

Nights 2-3: Dolphin, room rate including resort fee came to $456.75. Charged $59 to the room - sunscreen and a phone charger because I forgot them, Mickey bars and drinks to sit on the balcony one night. Charged $200 to DHs SPG Lux to get his $40 credit, charged the remainder to mine to get my $40 credit plus $300 credit. Total OOP $135.45 and earned 6800pts

Nights 4-6: Pop with RO offer for one night, $535. Charged $285 to my Arrival and $250 to DHs. Redeemed a total of $560 in Arrival credit.

Used Uber credits going to Universal, but ended up paying $25 OOP for a Lyft back including tip after the OI Meetup. It was 2am and Uber kept connecting me with drivers by the airport that were 20min away, or one's who were 'completing a trip nearby' which really mean they were a mile away from us and needed to go another mile past us before dropping off their current fare (and still a 20min arrival time), plus were in surge pricing. Lyft was not surging and I had 10% off, and I gave a really big tip too in that $25 because our driver was great. If it hadn't been 2am I would have used DHs Lyft app for 25% off and paid with a Discover card.

Gift card spending was almost $600 :scared1: but it came from my stash so actual cash paid for that was $275 :goodvibes. We ate at Yak n Yeti using Landry's gift cards that I got on sale from Sam's, $67.50 for $90 worth which I covered with Discover cashback since that was better than getting a Landry's GC through Discover which is $50 GC for $45 cb. The rest of our cash spending was miscelaneous airport stuff, Timberline tip, Pop food court (I burned a $15 VGC but forgot to grab a GC for the remainder), last few bucks at YnY plus tip on a card, and a meal at Toothsome at Uni Citywalk. Plus OI Meetup tickets and we decided to add the HEA Dessert Party. We were worn out getting to MCO at 3:45am but at least we got to use precheck... we skipped the lounge because we didn't feel like dealing with swtiching terminals since our flight was supposed to board at 6:10am and the lounge opened at 5am... and good thing as we started boarding around 5:45am.

OI Meetup Review: $186pp including tax (further breakdown of pricing/hours vs regular park hours/tickets is in quote below)
Grain of salt, we messed up here which didn't help... forgot our Seasonal APs were blocked out through the day of the meetup, so we headed over around 3pm, got checked in and got our wristbands and dining cards... and couldn't get in the park like we thought we'd be able to. There were 2 QS places in Citywalk that would have taken the dining card, but we had a long time to kill and ate at Toothsome. Delicious but filling, sooooo... we ended up not using our dining cards at all! Getting in was a bit chaotic. They hadn't really said where you'd enter but it was over by the exit turnstiles and the line seemed crazy long and no one knew what was happening. We went into IoA first thinking regular guests would head to Studios as it was open later. It was a busy day and all the lines were long, like 60mins+ so we ended up doing Poseidon's Fury and that was really it before park close - wanted to do Seuss trolley but it went down. I think we would have been better off starting in Studios even waiting in lines. We tried to use our dining cards to get drinks/snacks at some of the carts before park close, as the unlimited food didn't start until an hour after park close, but they cut all the lines off about 10-15mins early so that was a bit disappointing. At park close we jumped in the Spiderman line figuring it wouldn't be as popular, and did it twice. Rode JP River ride twice, and Kong. All walk ons. Then headed to Forbidden Journey. It was about time for the food to start and we were hungry by that time, so we hit a QS place. Then Suess trolley then Hulk. Then decided to head to Studios via a path they opened between the parks, around 10:30pm. Rode the Mummy a couple times, then headed for Gringotts but the ride went down while we were in line. Gringotts, Rip Ride Rockit, Hulk, and FnF rides all closed at midnight, so we headed for RRR. Ran into a few disboards friends so I chatted with them for a few while Zack went to ride (it's not my favorite). Hit another QS place, then went to MIB and Simpsons, then the Mummy 3 more times before it ended.

Pros: the lines were short after the parks closed, I'll give them that. 15-20ish min mostly. Gringotts was pretty long. Hulk and RRR were very backed up at the metal detectors (like wait 20min for them then basically walk on ride). I was a little miffed that we didn't get to use the dining cards, though part of that was obviously our planning so I still think they were a pro overall, if they keep doing them (I've seen mixed reviews on if they expire or not, so I'll probably hold on to them til the next trip and check to see if they are good still). Free food?

Cons: All rides with lockers were a giant issue as they are usually tied to ride times... but that feature must have been turned off, and it would tell you you had 3.5hrs even though the line was 10 mins. I think people were just leaving their stuff so not many lockers were open, plus Uni didn't have all of the locker banks open either. The QS places we hit were S.L.O.W. like 20min for a gyro/chicken finger place. I walked up to the Italian place and could get spaghetti and meatballs, pizza, breadsticks, salad, and cannolis... but they were backed up on Chk Alfredo. And they had the chicken ready, had to wait 10min for a bowl of crappy alfredo? It seemed a bit weird, it's all basic mass produced food but I felt like we waited many times longer than the times we've had QS in the park on a normal day. We even avoided the HP QS because we though they'd be the worst. Butterbeer lines were pretty crazy mostly, and a lot of the frozen BB machines were down (I can't drink the normal kind). HP areas still felt really busy and the Hogwarts Express line was always listed at 30-70mins. Rides weren't running at full capacity, like slow to load, not all the trains out. So that was disappointing to go in and the lines not that long but it takes twice as long as when the park is open to get through the same number of people.

Verdict: DH was not impressed overall. Id have felt better about the value of wed been able to use the dining cards or have more food, but it was a big time waster. And food was mainly 1hr after park close to midnight. We would give it another shot maybe instead of day tickets, but as long as our passes are valid our $375 is better spent on a night at an EP hotel.

Thanks for the write up! Sounds ok, but probably not worth the price (or staying up that late, which would be a big deal for my family of early birds). We thought that visiting with an EP (staying on site) made the parks totally do-able, so we will probably stick with that again next time.

So amidst all the excitement today...did this get shared:

American Express relaunches Blue Cash Preferred with two new cashback categories

Starting May 9th, American Express will add two new reward categories to the Blue Cash Preferred card:
  • 6% cash back on more than 20 US streaming subscriptions (including Amazon Prime, YouTube, HBO, Netflix, Apple Music, and Pandora)
  • 3% cash back on transit purchases including parking, tolls, train fares and ride shares (including Uber and Lyft)
These cashback categories remain unchanged:
  • 6% cash back at US supermarkets up to $6,000 per year
  • 3% cash back at US gas stations
  • 1% cash back on other purchases
The 3% cash back for department stores is being removed from the reward categories.

Official Press Release: https://about.americanexpress.com/p...ss-unveils-refreshed-blue-cash-preferred-card

This is the one cashback that keeps piquing my interest. The new categories just add to the allure. I've got our next couple of cards (each) planned out for now, but maybe we will get to this one later in the year. Thanks for the heads up!

I’m exhausted from keeping the news thread updated, especially in the last few days. Lots of news!

I don’t know how DoC does it with just two guys.

Speaking of which, that twitter exchange you posted last night was bizarre. Bank was going to give DoC $50 per lead, then upped the offer to $100 when DoC kept suggesting the bank give away the initial $50 instead. It made me think of that WSJ article we discussed a few weeks ago. Amex spent almost $2 million on ads with TPG in Q4 2018, and during that same period Chase spent almost $1.5 million with TPG. And that’s just ad spending, not affiliate commissions; and only TPG, not any of the hundreds of other points and miles bloggers. Imagine if the banks redirected some of that money to bonuses or statement credits to the customers. Geez.

Really appreciate you keeping it up to date - this board moves so fast, its really easy to miss stuff if you don't check in for a few days. Also, its great to have the repository so that I can find stuff I skipped, then wanted to go back to. Many thanks!!!

@wendow How far in advance do you have Plastiq send your mortgage? I believe you use Provident also. I think I might need to move my CIU to a CIP if it’s coding as 3x again.

Plastiq was still allowing my Provident mortgage payments with the workaround, but I stopped once CIP didn't code 3x. If it comes back, I can tell you how to address it to hopefully get it through.
