For those of you who've been around for awhile, you may remember my dd18 has a chronic illness. She is sick again and it's a bad flare. I've spent the day on the phone with doctors trying to get meds called in and then running around to get meds (spending a small fortune...). Appreciate any prayers or thoughts for us both. She's in pain and I'm worn out.

Sorry to hear -- hope she feels better very soon!

Oh no, :(. I am thinking about you and your lovely DD

@Albort or anyone else familiar with loading Serve, I had a little trouble today. I went to Walmart looking for a kiosk to load my MCGCs from Staples but they didn't have one! I tried at the register but it was running as credit and didn't give me the option to cancel and switch to debit. I called a few other Walmarts nearby and none seem to have a kiosk either. Any suggestions on loading these MCGCs? Family Dollar?

you have a Kiosk to load debit cards? KATE? You can also go to a cashier and do it too.
Family Dollar should work... Dollar Tree might as well too.

Yes, KATE, the Walmarts near me dont have them. I read you can load the Staples MCGCs that way. It didn't work when I went to the cashier. Got an error and then she called a manager over who wanted to see my card. I'll try Family Dollar tomorrow, thanks.

I think 2 days is more than enough for Universal Studios Hollywood. The park is very compact. We did just 1 day, and felt ok about it. But we also aren't fans of a lot of the franchises featured at the park, so we were ok with not doing everything. The wait times do get long by mid-day, just like at Disney parks. It was our first time visiting a Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and we loved how immersive it is. I kind of want to see the Orlando version now, since it also has Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express. We caught the new Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle projection light show, and WOW we were blown away. I hope they keep this nighttime show around.

There are two hotels next to USH, the Sheraton and the Hilton, which are right next to each other on the opposite side of the street (Universal Studios Drive) from the USH and CityWalk (USH's version of Downtown Disney). Both are walkable, but the hotels, park, and dining and entertainment district are on a hill. The Sheraton is lower down on the hill than the Hilton. From the Sheraton, it's maybe an 8-10 minute walk to USH; the Hilton is closer, so maybe a 5-8 minute walk from there to USH. There's a pedestrian bridge that takes you over Universal Studios Drive, and that takes you pretty much right to bag check.

If walking up a hill every morning and back down in the afternoon or at night isn't your thing, both hotels offer a shuttle directly to the park. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes, picks up at the Sheraton first, then the Hilton, and drops off passengers at CityWalk, near the Tony Roma's and Jamba Juice. We lucked out that the shuttle picks up at the Sheraton first, because by the time we got to the Hilton it could only pick up about half the guests waiting there. You wait at the same drop off spot to go back to the hotels, and there's an electronic sign at CityWalk that gives you an ETA for the shuttle. The shuttle runs until about 10 p.m. at night.
I think it’s better to go to Universal Studios Hollywood first. Once you go to Orlando and see Diagon Alley Hollywood Studios is underwhelming. Did you check out Waterworld? That’s one of the coolest shows we’ve ever seen.

Well...if it helps...
I'm sitting here thinking how awesome it is that we're both under 5/24 and now with the current loopholes we can get 3-4 CIPs and 4 AA Biz cards a year PER PLAYER without touching my 5/24 status. 600k-800k URs and ~500k AA miles each year... And we could grab 2 SW CPs if we wanted them at any time...so many good things!!! :teacher: :D

If that doesn't help...
Blech...being < 5/24 sucks, URs can't be used directly for Disney and AA miles for Disney keeps getting worse...r/churning is right...goodbye 5/24, I should just get dozens of AA cards and hit up 30 other random small credit unions milking them for all they're worth!!! :crazy2: :sad2: :furious:

Read whichever line supports your current position and justifies things in your mind!!
You think 3-4 CIP's is doable? Do we have anyone here that has gotten a third? I'm all for that but I'm 7/24 and being able to play in Chase's sandbox feels so far away! I've decided not to wreck dh's 5/24 but he just got his CIP2 less than a month ago so a long time til he can do anything with Chase (he also cannot get a citi AA biz until 6/9). I guess I could look back at Amex again :scared:

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope that the meds help her and that she feels better soon.

On the idea of multiple CIP’s held at same time...CIC for DH will be a year old in May. I haven’t been using it since got mine in March. Should I close it out? I assume if I do would increase his chances of a second CIP later this summer. He also has CIU.
IMO If you aren’t using it, I’d probably close it to free up some biz CL. It’s not helping your AAoA since it’s not on your personal report.

Whew, activated new citi biz with ZERO issues :woohoo:

@SouthFayetteFan I think I'm so tempted by the AA personal cards because I need twice as many points as you. Just a mod room for 5 nights is 150K (in Aug, when rates are cheaper!). So, if we open 4 biz cards each, every year, we can stay mod. I want *MORE* :D

I do hear you though. There is tremendous value in staying under 5/24.

ETA: Cheapest mods are 150k. POR and FQ are both 230k’ish.

Sending positive thoughts. Sorry to hear about your DD. I hope the medication helps and she feels better soon! :grouphug:
