If my SPG Personal anniversary is 8/3 (or that's the AF day at least) and I took the upgrade offer to Lux/Brilliant on 3/27...

Theoretically I will get ~4mths of my $95 fee refunded and charged ~4mths of the $450 fee, give or take a month?

I think it will - that's what happened for me when I upgraded to the Lux.

Quoting myself. Anyone like to check my math?

Going with the 4 months number, I'm charged $150 for Lux fee and refunded $31.67 of personal fee, for net fee of $118.33
2 nights at Dolphin = $500 including taxes/resort fee.
Use $300 Lux credit, plus $40 on $200 offer on my card.
Use $40 on $200 offer on DHs card.

AF cost + Dolphin - all credits = $118.33+$500-$380=$238.33 for our stay?

I upgraded ~6 mos. into my cardholder year (AF anniversary 3/27 and upgraded on 9/15), and ended up being refunded (4 months of the $95) $31.66 and charged (4 months of the $450) $150. It seems to take a while for them to figure out the AFs. So it's possible that you end up with 2 or 3 months of paying the new fee, which would be even better for you.

Rounded to the nearest whole dollar:
If 2 months: $59 net AF + $500 Dolphin - $380 credits = $179 for your stay
If 3 months: $89 net AF + $500 Dolphin - $380 credits = $209 for your stay

Ok I sort of missed what was happening with the canceled flights, but I saw someone say to check... one of mine in June is on a 800(is that the worrisome one?) does this mean I'm gonna get canceled?
No promises but the 800 is not the problem plane, it is different from the 800 Max. The only reason you'd get cancelled is if the take your plane for another route.

I'm so excited. There is very little availability at Swolphin but the two nights that are open work perfectly!

It's been awhile since I was actively reading, so I am about 600,000 pages behind. I think the last major update that applied to me was that AA was not generating the Amex Plat credit anymore. That still a thing? I still have $200 in my flight credit for 2019 that I would like to use. What airlines are working? I would most likely try to sell the GC unless it was United.

Anyway, I ditched my CSR at the beginning of March right before the AF hit. I have had it for 24 months and did pretty well with it. DH also has one as well, so I didn't think we needed two. So, here is how it all worked out since Jan. 2017 (this is mine and DH's):

150k UR SUB
20K support clicks
$1500 Travel Credits
Used 200K to United for Business seats to Europe, back in economy
Used 1.5x redemption on:
(4) AA Flights to FL and back
5 nights at Sheraton Vistana Resort
5 days car rental
1 night in Chicago
1 night at Notre Dame
$1800 Annual Fees with the next AF hitting Mar. '20

I know it's not as awesome as some other redemptions, but it's been pretty good for us. We don't travel all too often anymore, but am really happy with what we were able to do with it all. We still have about 80K UR, but I attribute that to my CIP.

In other news, I already lost my March Madness bet with DH. Loser has to plan a long weekend. Great thing for the loser is they get to pick ANYWHERE they want to go with no say from the winner (DH hates to plan vacations...he just wants to show up). I want to try to do this with points.

Some ideas I have are Denver, Boston, or Hilton Head. Neither of us have been (except I have been to Breckenridge to ski). We would be going mid-to late summer. 3-4 nights total. Here is what I have to work with for now:

80K UR (I have been trying to max out 2 CF each quarter buying $500 Visas, so that will bump up)
80K IHG + 1 Free Night Cert (before the changes)
105K MR
23K United

Where would you go and why????

Can I just take a moment to say that this is the best and friendliest place on the internet! Thanks for all the great info and, even more so, for the pleasant atmosphere and kind folks. Really enjoy hanging out here each day!

Ditto! I started to venture to reddit recently and the negativity there is depressing. I have to come here afterwards for a dose of happiness.

Ugh I was approved on 3/21 and the card still hasn’t showed LOL! Was this a Citi Biz?

Edit...now I see what you’re getting lol.

I applied for the citi biz for both DH and myself last Monday, 3/25, and we already got DH's card this Monday, 4/1. I was pretty surprised how quickly his card came since everyone said how sloooow it usually takes. I still didn't get mine yet though. Also, it has not escaped me that the whole Disney AA debacle started the day we jumped on the train. I feel like I somehow jinxed it, cuz of course the day I finally decide to do it, things go south. Thanks for posting all the updates on the issue, and glad to see it was fixed...kinda. At least I didn't jinx it completely...right ?

Me too! I got an email. I checked earlier today and saw that the delivery date changed to this week but I assumed it was a mistake. I can’t wait to see what it looks like. It was $26 and we earned 2x by getting it through the chase portal so not too bad
I ordered one of those backpacks a few weeks ago and my ship date was pushed back until May. After reading your posts, I checked my email, and sure enough- Shipped!

We need something on DISchurners with a bit more of this gem explained maybe. Cause I don't really understand quite how to maximize this. I've been trying to think through it all and I'm coming up :confused3
It seems like if you can figure out your cards anniversary date (probably considered the 1st of the month following when you originally were approved) you can maximize this benefit maybe. If you had a CF approved on March 15th, the anniv date in Chase's system is 4/1 so in April you upgrade to CSR and potentially aren't charged the AF until 4/1 of the NEXT year. @striker1064 - am I translating this correctly?

So if I understand correctly, my CSR was opened in 9/16 and I PC’ed it to a CF in 12/17. @Lain was correct - clearly I knew I could PC a CSR to a freedom. I’m not sure how I forgot this. Blonde moment lol??

Anyways, if I PC that CF to a CSR in 11/19, it seems I would not be charged the AF until 10/20 but I’d have access to the TC beginning with the 1/20 statement. Is that right?

That's right, but more recent DPs posted after mine indicate this may no longer be the case - the AF seems to now be posting a few months after upgrade. If you don't mind downgrading a couple months after upgrading to the CSR, you can still use one year of the travel credit for "free." There's no restriction from the CARD act because that only covers first year as far as I know. It's just how you may ethically view this particular action, I obviously think it's fine and I don't think Chase cares in the slightest as long as you aren't otherwise triggering their shutdown metrics.

After almost 4½ days of pending at 2 weeks, I've been approved for CIP#2! Happy to join the rest of you guys drinking from the CIPpy cup!

ETA: This is my 4th open Chase business card, with my CIP#1 still open. Previous biz cards are CIP#1 (6/16), Marriott Biz (2/17), CIC (5/18). I dropped back down to 4/24 last month. Slashed my personal and business CLs in February and March. Credit line for CIP#2 of only $5k, so I might've still been pushing it (but that seems to be in line with many other CIP#2 DPs). Used the same name with initials and SSN as CIP#1 for CIP#2.
Congrats!! My dh’s CL on his CIP 2 is also 5k but I’d closed his previous one. He has a lot extended currently though. Time to chop chop.

Agreed. I was reading the Debt Dumpers thread this morning and, wow, were people getting snarky about buying phones for your kids when the poor person was just looking for an electronic learning toy for her 3 year old to play with. Poor DS has 2 of them since he got an upgrade for Christmas but doesn't want to give up his old phone and number and since it's only $35 we just kept it active. I, of course, did not post that there.

New CIP just arrived! Going to get my URs moved to that card and then do a $2500 payment towards WDW followed by my $1500 student loan payment. Probably going to break it in with a small charge at Amazon first so Chase doesn't think I'm insane lol.

Mine finally arrived. Unfortunately I spent over $300 today before it came with car and glasses. I don’t have any big purchases planned to go through my MSR quickly.

I’ve been following that thread a long time. Everyone over there is usually super nice also. Not sure where that one guy came from. He has only been on the boards for a few days and already has over 80 posts. And his comments were totally uncalled for. And irrelevant.
