Some off topic ranting. I like when my boss calls me out like I am a newbie doing things wrong when I'm the only one who does them properly and follows up in the first place :badpc::badpc::badpc: I'm not 100% sure what is up with her today, but she keeps coming in and telling me 'you need to do things this way for this situation so we have this documentation' in the tone she uses when she is correcting people, and I'm like, I always do it that way. This has now happened 3 times :badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc:

Try not to take it personal, but it's what happens when someone who does it incorrectly got found out (usually because something else happened that's getting the department/company in trouble) and everyone has to be "retrained", even those that were doing it correctly, for the corrective action report. I fully support that she should have done it completely differently, but that sounds like her MO it seems :)

I've had to do it myself a couple times because one person goofed up, but I always explained it in a way that I was verifying that everyone is still doing it the correct way (right guys?) and now here sign the paper that you've been "retrained" on the proper procedure. Seemed to soften the blow even for folks who forgot what the right way was and they seemed to appreciate the guidance. (at least to my face... have no idea what kind of emoji's went on behind my back...)

I'm so so behind here. Others may have posted DP's, but I wanted to come on and report that my late night bizarre chat with Citi worked. My first Citibiz statement just closed, and they matched me from 40k to 60k points.

Nothing on the Aviator Biz side yet though (I had asked for an extra 10k there since they bumped up the offer just a couple days after I applied).

@wendow any luck with yours?
Not yet. My statement closed and miles posted with no extra 10k.

Hm, I'd be on the fence with an AmEx card. On one hand this is pretty new and probably not on their radar yet so it may slip through and be all good. But after the last ones, what was it BMO Harris or Memory Bank? something like that, some people we getting their bonus denied since it was a cash equivalent even though it coded as a purchase. I think we got hit here with that, @Jen and Ashwin had a SPG bonus denied because part of the spend was for a bank account, IIRC. Not sure if she ever got that resolved. There was just so much of it happening it must have tripped a flag at AmEx and people at the end got shot down hard.

They did eventually reward me the points, but it was after SPG and Marriott merged their rewards program, so instead of getting 25k SPG/75k Marriott points, the 25k SPG points just transferred as 25k Marriott points. I tried to get them to fix that, but they wouldn't budge on AmEx side or Marriott side so I eventually gave up. I guess 25k points is better than 0.

I thought it was 40k after 2K then 20K after 6K. Let me see if I can find email again.

Thanks!! Don't know why I thought it was 30 and 30.

I feel you. I had a major blowout with my boss yesterday.

OMG that's terrible! I just can't like that comment... although maybe an extra point in the "like" count could rebalance something in the universe. Shame fake internet points can't be cashed out into real points. That's just so terrible you got caught up in that. AmEx walks a very fine line in this love/hate relationship we have with them. But good outlook, I guess something is better than the nothing they were trying first. I hope you have somewhere fun planned to use them at least :)

Haha, I was getting ready to say... two week trip to Dubai and Maldives is a budget trip? Must be a credit card churner... :rotfl:
It's funny but Disneyland was our budget trip. People IRL (nonchurners) thought I was crazy but with SW points to get there and hotel points to stay there it cost us very little. (This was before I know URs could be used for WDW back when URs COULD be used for WDW)...

Sounds like it's worth a shot for you then!

ETA: It still might be for me too. I'm sure I'll ponder this on my flight to Maui tomorrow haha
Haha. I keep scrap paper on my desk at work to run the numbers on this stuff :)

I hadn't thought of it that way, but again, nothing to lose except a few hundred in Plastiq fees if it works :) So I think I'll go for it with the new name/email.

The problem is, I've both watched and been on the receiving end of her doing it both ways... the way you have detailed and the way she did today. She definitely also does it the way you said too, for the same reason - though typically I know who goofed up, because I noticed the goof up in an email or something, and also my boss is not shy about telling people who goofed up :sad2: (It's like, we are going over this again to make sure everyone is doing it correctly, and also because THIS PERSON messed it up and it's a big deal - I don't quite agree with saying that to everyone!). But then when she's telling you YOU did it wrong she takes on this certain tone and that's what I'm getting today...

Sounds like she needs more meds then, sorry you're getting the short end of the stick today. :(

That's what I want I always want to say to people about WDW... Someone asked me the other day why we go so much and why we're going again this year. I wanted to say "because it's cheap." Between URs and discounted gift cards, I currently have $1600 OOP cash invested in an 8 day trip for 6 adults. $600 of that is because I put the deposits for each room on a CC I was meeting MSR on. I estimate it won't be more than $3000 OOP (max) for everything including food and souvenirs by the time it's all said and done.

We stayed spent two nights in Venice in Oct., then 4 nights at the Sheraton Park Anaheim in Nov. and will be in Toronto for a week this June all using Marriott points. I have tons left because I earn a lot when I travel for work. Getting the 50k more points would have been nice, but it won't kill me. I guess that is just what can happen when you play this game. Not everything turns out as we think or hope.

Yes! I actually checked my spreadsheet and I had my SW priority, SW biz and the Spark, and P2 CIP all going at the same time. So actually closer to 60K. end of the year brought Q4 estimate taxes, HOAs, DVC dues, home owners insurance, 2 dental implants (one for each of us) and a new furnace. o_O Boy, that's scary writing it down.

:worship: Winner winner chicken dinner!

Mine were met with property taxes, income taxes, and kids' tuition. :crazy2:

Barclays successfully matched me on the Aviator Biz. I signed up for the 50,000 AA miles after 1 purchase on January 17th and the offer was adjusted to 60,000 AA miles after $1,000 on March 1. 10,000 bonus AA miles posted after sending a secure message asking for a match. There are DP's confirming matching within 30 days of elevated offers. My DP says Barclays can match after the 30 day window.

This is great! I sent a secure message but haven't heard anything from them yet. My first statement posted, but I only received the 50k. Maybe next statement? Or perhaps I should send another message. Hmmm.

Yeah. She just has no management skills. And no management experience. All of our current department leadership is like that, no experience/skills and they are definitely NOT naturally born managers.

You’ve never seen the Christmas Tree that @amalone1013 keeps on her desk at work. It looks just like that.....
I used to have this over my computer

I was born and raised in Toronto -- let me know if you need any tips on restaurants / things to do / areas to visit / where to shop (Yorkdale or Yorkville depending on your budget!)! LOVE LOVE LOVE Toronto -- going back in a few weeks and can't wait!!

Just saw an offer on my Amex Everday for Universal Orlando. The one for Loews excluded Universal Orlando, but this one is specifically for it :

Get a one-time $100 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $500 or more on a vacation package at universalorlandovacations.com or universalorlando.com by 6/18/2019. Offer valid only at websites listed. See terms.

It does have to be hotel AND tickets though, so may not work for everyone. I prefer to book my Universal hotel and tickets separately.
