Got the WF $150 checking bonus today. I signed up for the $150 after first $500 DD, $100 after 5 more months of $500 DD. I opened it the day after I was eligible again (received a WF personal checking bonus on 1/24/2018, opened this account on 1/25/2019). So, that confirms 12 months is the hard cutoff, even to the day.

My old faithful CU push doesn't work to trigger the bonus anymore, so I had to change my DD to get it. Of course, the $400 bonus offer came out after I had changed my DD, when it was too late to change it back. This is one case I wish WF didn't post the bonus so fast! Oh well, I'll finish this one off.

Is it just me or have there been a lot of cc fraud issues lately? Dh just got a text and email from chase asking if we spent $300 at Hanes.com. Why would we spend $300 there? I’m glad they caught it because we probably wouldn’t have noticed. We don’t check our account that often

I had my Hilton card stolen for $250 at Walmart, and my IHG Chase for $2300 at AirBnB. Both were denied and caught. But ***. And I think my replacement cards got lifted as I saw them in my USPS informed delivery last week and they still haven't shown up!

Just thought I'd share that I made a purchase at Advance Auto on 2/16 with the 10% back offer on my Chase card. I returned the purchase on 2/18 since I didn't need it. The 10% back credited to my card today. Obviously, it's not like I condone this behavior, but I'll be interested to see if it gets clawed back.

I have a similar situation with one of my Chase offers: purchase on 1/18, offer credited 1/24, returned part of purchase 1/30. No clawbacks and it's been about a month.

Well what the heck. You’ve either got some bad luck or someone’s got it out for you. I’m sorry that’s happening to you.

I was thinking the El San Juan. I love Isla Verde beach. The budget is $5k not including flights. They're going for 9 days.

I stayed at ESJ 21 years ago. It was my first visit to PR and I thought it was nice, but terribly overrated. Service was poor, lots of locals using the bar on weekend evenings and the bartenders seemed to give them preference. Room, beach and pool were great. Just the service that let everything down.

the Intercontinental on the same beach might also be worth a look.

9 days is a long time to spend in the San Juan area unless they really enjoy just spending time on the beach. Perhaps consider a split stay - the Hilton in Ponce (I keep mentioning it, but promise I have no ulterior motive) is a nice resort and provides easier access to see more of the island. A car rental would really be needed to make this work though.

I'll join the club with you :) I have GE, hubby's not interested. I told him I'll meet him at the gate
Since I have it I take the carry-on with all the electronics and liquids to make it a little simpler for him, but otherwise he's on his own. I wouldn't feel too bad about it, seems to be the push he needed. So far it's only saved about 15 minutes on our trips, but it is nicer not to unpack and repack the carry-on. However that's not enough to push him into applying yet. In fact it gets him out of carrying the backpack so maybe that backfired

I signed up for GE as soon as I got my CSR, mostly to avoid the new scanners in the regular lines. People in my family are prone to skin cancer and it might be a little paranoid but I don't trust those body scanners that concentrate radiation on the skin. So I always opted out of the scanners, which required a pat-down, which of course was a hassle. So GE was an easy decision for me. I did wait for DH right past security and after he had put his shoes back on and the laptop in his backpack, he said he was ready to apply for GE.

Picked DH up at the airport last night. He talked my ear off the whole way home about how great the mother lode weekender junior was :P Thanks @Andysol Now he wants to order the other two professional bags to compare, since he is looking at a lot of work travel in the next few months (vs me ordering another weekender, I tried to convince him to do this originally, but... hmmm have I ever told you guys the story of his wedding ring?)

Oh I just leave DH in the dust, lol. DD3 and I zip right through and head to starbucks

@platamama , and anyone else interested, I had a little trouble with my 14 payments to my mortgage company. I got an email saying they were returning them all! The checks all arrived prior to the first, so since I technically didn't have a payment due yet and I wrote do not apply to principal, they couldn't do anything with them! I was able to intercept the return thankfully. I was told that next time I would either have to have them arrive after the first, OR allow them to be applied to principal and call to reallocate after. Here I thought I was doing myself a favor by writing "partial March payment- do not apply to principal". I'm just glad they didn't end up returning them all, ugh :faint:

Do tell!

Anybody know how long it takes to receive the AmEx Bonvoy Brilliant (formerly Lux)?

Need to wait for P2 to be out of 2/90, but before the 100k offer expires, AND not have it arrive while we're on vacation! Eek!

21 years ago is about when I stayed at the El San Juan. Lol. I'm thinking a few days in San Juan and maybe culebra and viequez (I can't spell).

Sounds good. It is a pity that the Conquistador hasn't reopened as they have property on Palomino Island that would be nice for a honeymoon.

Can someone refresh my memory? Not seeing my RR number on my SW Biz card is not a cause for panic? I have vague recollections of discussing this before and can't quite remember the outcome. I just noticed they imprinted the "RR" on the back but it's absolutely blank after that, where I'd expect to see my account number.

I'm a little different in that I don't necessarily mind who is narrating as long as it's a good story. That being said, I'm in the minority from most who have commented here in that I do not like Jim Dale's reading of Harry Potter (why is Hermione so whiny? why on EARTH does Bellatrix have a French accent?). I really want to listen to Stephen Fry's readings, but haven't purchased those and my library doesn't have them. I also don't like Outlander, but I do think Davina Porter is a great narrator and listened to her read all 55 hours of The Mists of Avalon last year. Have you read anything by Liane Moriarty? Caroline Lee narrates her books and does a great job. She's Australian. Andy Weir's books (The Martian, Artemis) area also very well-narrated and will keep you on the edge of your seat.

My favorite audiobook is Ready Player One narrated by Wil Wheaton. I'm not sure the book is for everyone though because it delves pretty deep into being a nerd, though it is very popular so maybe I'm wrong. World War Z is also great (though scary) and features a full cast including Mark Hamill!

Ok, I totally agree on Bellatrix and Narcissa having weird accents. That always bugs me, but I like his narration overall. If you don't like his, I have heard that the Brit version has a different reader, and that it therefore has a different feel to the stories. DH and I really wanted to get that version, too, but when we last checked it was pretty expensive. :( I like the Martian, too. Have to check out the other ones you mentioned. I'm always looking for a good audio book.

Go big or go home right? We are now at the 4th snowiest month on record! Oh joy! Luckily I think it's done until Friday, let's hope March doesn't set another record. It's not starting out great though.

Oh, close call! Glad to hear that your mortgage company could work with your payments and that you got it resolved! Are you going to use multiple payments like that going forward?

I added those yesterday. Not exactly sure what they do but I noticed that Ryan’s “news and rumors thread” had tags so maybe it makes us look official lol. If they’re annoying or don’t serve a purpose I can get rid of them.

Tags are used to aid in searching. The question then becomes is it just the dis search or is it any search engine. Tagging it with credit card could make it pop up much sooner on google if someone searches that term. It's why you'll see a lot of blog posts with tags. They serve a purpose but before going tag happy anywherr on the dis I'd want to know what type of search it's helping. And if it's only for the dis search why are they needed?

Meanwhile, over here in MA, I think this is the least snowiest winter in the 10 years I have lived here. A few more inches expected tonight.

My RR number isn’t on my business card either and the points have posted to the account without any issues
