Yes that does seem high given your price. It’s nice to have a reference point to know what is a good deal. Thanks
I think it depends on the ship and islands too. Oasis is a large ship but I think the oldest in the fleet so the prices are lower. I think the Symphony is newer and more desirable and therefore more expensive. Not sure about the Harmony but for 4 nights 2400 still seems high to me for RCCL

What about pre-paying bills? I did this for my electric, gas, internet/cable, cellphone, etc.
Do you just ask if you can prepay?
We have no cellphone bills. (Paid for by someone else)
We don’t have cable.
Our internet is $50. It Verizon so I’m sure I could prepay that.
Our town does our utilities and electric they charge just to auto draft your payment. A credit card payment is like $5.
Thank you. I plan on paying our insurance every six months now.

It’s very very helpful. The 4,000 spend is a stretch for us. We bought furniture so that’s what helping currently. Our regular monthly budget is $650 aside from mortgage and utilities.

We always always pay off our cards. We are savers so we always have the money. I usually pay cash for large purchases and I see here is where I have been making my “mistakes”.

Thank you for the info I will take it into consideration. I’m sure I will have more questions. This is a crazy new way of life. Bonus DH loves the new credit card. He likes the perks.

That’s great your DH is on board...mine at first felt it was a scam and his credit score would drop...now he’s fine with whatever card...he..:rolleyes1(me) applies for....

It seems like males and females have a big gap as far as getting applications approved. My SO (F) got approved within a couple days whereas my (M) took more than 30 days.
Sorry to bust your theory but DS and DH applied and had preliminary approval within 2 days. I applied a couple days
After and it took around 6 weeks.

Spirit has some good flights too. My ILs flew Spirit from RIC to FLL. Our only problem with Spirit is paying extra for the bags and by that time I feel like we're probably coming out the same flying Jetblue.
Yeah we paid for one bag each way and it was $68. With the personal item and that it’s be enough since we won’t need thick clothing. Plus I spend like a month packing to get it perfect.

Is it just me or have there been a lot of cc fraud issues lately? Dh just got a text and email from chase asking if we spent $300 at Hanes.com. Why would we spend $300 there? I’m glad they caught it because we probably wouldn’t have noticed. We don’t check our account that often

He just does whatever I say. Lol:rolleyes1i just cook him a large dinner and he just like ok whatever you say. I can’t tell you how many times I’m like oh yeah I signed you up for this or that. He’s a keeper.

Has anyone mentioned I survived books? Those might be too scary though.
OMG those books are horrible. DS came home every week in 2nd grade with a new fear. Took weeks convincing him we would never get a tsunami in Chicago o_O And we are banned from Hawaii because volcanos. Swimming in the ocean? Wait there might be sharks. :faint:

Lol..yes..this was me a year ago..happy with 1% on my Disney or SW cards.....
Right? Like I thought i was hot stuff when we went from using our debit card to our rewards card. 2% first year then 1%? But extra 10% back if you deposit the money into an account. I did agonize for a few months over that. Before that we had 2 credit cards between us. :)

Emptying out my wallet for our universal trip this weekend- any benefit to carrying southwest cards on a southwest flight? Or just keep them sock drawered?

#underwearfordaysssss
Apparently lol. We don’t even buy hanes underwear

ETA: Okay, Dh just got a call and he said he was hesitant to answer. He looked up the number and apparently it’s a number that texts you and says you have a fraud alert on your chase card. He said he’s gonna actually call chase tomorrow but this is kind of scary

Yeah I figured they might be too scary. If you don’t mind me asking, why is he so afraid of everything?

If you set up an account with Mint.com (or another like that) you can easily monitor all your charges daily. At one point when I had 30 cards or so open this was key to make sure that no unexpected expenses occur. I typically login once every day or 2, it takes a few minutes to update, then I just check all charges (posted and pending) to make sure I recognize them.

It really depends on who you're paying. I prepay 3 utilities: Gas, Water, Electric.

Gas & Water have a flat $1.95 fee and Power charges a flat $4.75. Last year I paid my gas and water for the year in January (~$800 each) and I figured out that Electric capped me at around $600 so I made 2 payments (one in Jan, one in June) each of about $600. So I paid $13.40 in fees to pay $2,800 in utilities which worked out to < 0.5% with me earning rewards of somewhere between 10% and 40% on those purchases. Your utilities could work differently but I'd research it to find out what's possible.

I like to get a big MSR at the beginning of the year and just make these payments then. Of course we're fortunate to have the cash to do that BUT I like to think of it as a piece of emergency fund. If I lost a job an emerg. fund would be needed to keep the water and lights on... Well good news is, I don't need to worry about that since it's paid for the year, LOL!

For one of my cards, don't remember which one, my first charge was a couple thousand over the phone to an out of state dentist 1000 miles from me. My MIL was getting work done and we have access to some of her money so that was easiest way to do it. After I hung up with dentist, I was like crap, that could go very bad, they are going to deny it for fraud. It went through fine. I wasn't sure if I was happy or not about that. lol I was like, how do they know it was actually me?

Lol my first charge on my CF card was a $900 vet bill. Card came in the mail, I called in and verified it, hung up and immediately called the vet to pay haha. This was also the CF I got a month after getting my CSP. Just didn’t know how it worked in those days lol.
