Seeing some chatter on today's r/churning DD thread about GCs not triggering Amex reimbursement as of a few days ago, because the charge details are now coding as "gift card". Anyone have any very recent DPs? I am kind of surprised Amex allowed this to go on as long as they did given the T&Cs explicitly state the airline credit does not count for GCs, but this is a loophole they could have closed a long time ago if they wanted.

Because Discover does not require a DD, yes this will work.
That might make me re-think getting a platinum card.

which airline gift card? there's been a lot of ppl stupidly calling amex saying why their gift cards aren't coding... :-/

Also on my Chase cards, I do not have the Marriott Premier Plus that is listed, I still have the old Marriott card that I never updated. But it seems to work for the referrals. I did not know that.

I evidently added this to quote but I guess I never did. For Chase if the card is discontinued and there's an upgrade/replacement for it, they let you refer to the new card. My IHG Select can refer to the Premier, the Marriott Premier to the PP, I think the old Hyatt is setup for the new WoH too, also the old CI+ can refer to the CIP from what I recall. That's the exception to the 'can only refer the card you have' rule with them. Just something for folks to keep in mind.

Been dragging my feet on buying a SW gc. Hopefully this isn't dead :(

What did you get? We have a couple puzzles to do also. A few Disney Kinkades and then a few we got at the parks
We have 5 of the Disney Kinkades and then quite a few Disney Ravensburger puzzles. I find the Kinkades so hard and we are puzzle diehards. We bought one to do at Christmas and could never even get it finished. About 2/3 of the puzzle looks like exactly the same color pieces :crazy2:

I bought a SW GC on my Rose Gold on 2/1 and it credited on 2/5.

Ok, since I'm just hanging in the room with the sick kids today and browsing the boards I have another question for you all. I'm already considering a "2019 Disney do over". DH is not onboard.....yet. We have 10 day non hopper tickets now. If we were to come for 4-5 days this fall would you all update to annual passes now? I mean, we are working towards MSR on CIP anyways....

I say go for the AP + DVC to complete your MSR...it only makes sense. ::yes:: ;)

We love our DVC. We bought a mostly resale and a small direct add on because I wanted to have the member benefits. It's allowed us to get discounted APs and go a lot more...which not exactly great for the pocket book, but it's made for many happy memories. We stayed at Copper Creek this past Thanksgiving and really liked it, so much that we're thinking of adding on there. If CC were my first purchase, I would've been tempted to buy direct, especially now. For the direct benefits and future access to new DVC resorts, I think CC is one of the only DVC that I would even consider buying direct. Because it has the longest amount of years left, so the difference between resale and direct pts when divided out over the long haul for CC isn't that much for getting to be a "full member" compared to other resorts. This all really only matters if you want the member benefits and future access to new resorts, which I know for many people don't really offset the cost of direct vs resale. I'm the kind of person who hates to miss out on things, so I would've wanted direct CC pts. Plus, you get a nice tote bag when you buy direct, lol....

I'm sorry in advance, because I feel like this is an easy question, but I can't find an answer to it.

I referred DH to the Disney Chase Visa with the $200 bonus. I plan on using it to buy $500 in gift cards (enough to qualify for the bonus) and quickly redeeming the Disney reward dollars. How badly will it hurt our credit if I cancel the card immediately after earning and using the bonus Disney reward dollars? I don't need another card to keep track of as we have several already. We have excellent credit scores now.

I'm still not seeing any 1099s here from Chase or Amex. If I don't see it in Informed Delivery tomorrow morning, I'm filing tomorrow night. 13 days past the deadline is enough time to send me something.

Just lowered my cash advance on my Hyatt card so I can do the PNC bonus, even though I still haven't gotten the bonus from DH's account. The $2000 shows as a "paycheck" and I completed all the transactions on January 22, so I'm hoping it's just slow.

Shouldn't effect it too much, if any at all. I keep mine open. No AF. It just sits in the drawer as one of my longest cards...since Day 1.

Did $100 AA GC on 2/7, posted on 2/9 on Rose Gold. Then did $200 AA on 2/10 on personal Plat, still pending. Hope it credits! IIRC, the pending description "AA ARC" is the same as when I did the Rose Gold.

I do worry that it'll eventually change, which is why I did it sooner rather than later.

Math fail...I finally have my CSR to book our stay at Hard Rock Hotel in Universal for early September, but I forgot to account for taxes and fees, so we are a mere 5300 UR short of the points needed for the whole stay. Would you:

A) Book 5 out of 6 nights and book the final one when you have the points to do so (coming as soon as my CSR statement posts, hopefully)
B) Book all 6 nights and pay the $72 balance out of pocket
C) Wait and hope prices don't go up in the next month or two
late to replying but I would cancel and rebook once you get your points as long as the price doesn't go up. I have canceled many times to get a lower price :-) the universal prices have been staying the same for the past month I haven't seen any changes. Hope they go lower soon :-)

I'd keep it open for a least a year to keep Chase happy. lower the credit limit on it and lower the cash advance.

Report back on whether you do, please :)

Ugh...so my Hyatt pts didn't post this month for either SUB tier (40k or 20k additional pts). I met MSR too close to my statement closing date, I guess. I put $2k on early in the statement month, then $2K two days before the statement, and the last $2k the day before statement closing. When I check Chase for pts detail, it says I've earned 6k pts that have been transferred to WoH, but no SUB pts listed. Booo. Will have to wait to see it post on my March statement probably.

so applied for the CIP initial method last night. Got the message we will let you know in writing. called the status line immediately because we all know how patient I am at waiting! Got the 2 week message. Called the status line this morning and approved! Already called and expiated the cards. I'll update once I get the sign up bonus (sorry can't use that abbreviation). Now do I apply for DH's card or wait till I meet some of this spend to put some time between the two apps

Not recent, but I bought 3 GCs on 1/24 and the credit posted on 1/26. Biz Platinum.

Bought 4 GCs on 2/7 and the credits posts on 2/9. Hilton Aspire.
