As I approach my the end of my first year of churning, I'm trying to go back and clean some old things up and plan for the future. I have a Capital One Quicksilver One card that was opened 12/15. It has a $39 AF that I have been (stupidly) paying for years even though I haven't been using the card. Should I/ can I product change to a no AF card instead of cancelling?

I vote yes, pc to no AF card. I have the no AF Quicksilver card that rarely gets spend, but it is old and helps my AAoA.

Yeah seems mixed, DS from the original DoC comments I linked chimed in that he was approved. So 24 positive, one 7-10 day, and one (40/24) still holding our breath. This is looking more interesting at the moment.

Edit: Up to 4 positives - last ones instant approved at 25/24 & 10/24.

awesome! now it makes me wonder if the same will apply to United.

So I've pretty much reached the spend on my AMEX personal Plat and am looking for my next move.
I am 4/24:

01/18 - CSP
04/18 - SPG Personal
05/18 - CIC
06/18 - Hilton Biz
08/18 - CIP
10/18 - SW Priority
11/18 - Personal Plat

My first year is up on my CSP, but the fee hasn't hit yet. I plan to downgrade to a CF since I get the same redemption rate with the CIP and would like the 5x categories. Then when we want to redeem something or if I decide to close the CIP after a year try to convince DH (not into opening anything so not a P2 yet) to get a CSR or upgrade my CF. Can I downgrade it now, or do I need to wait until the fee hits?

I think I should lay off Chase as they won't approve me for the $300 checking offer. (one reason being my mortgage is too low, sorry guys that's not changing)

I am interested in the Amex Gold card so thinking about self referring to that. Worried about the popup though as I have put only limited spend on the Hilton and SPG cards since hitting MSR. Also, another personal will put me at 5/24 and keep me away from Chase for the next year. Although no other Chase cards really excite me too much, so that might not be bad.

Any other cards I should be considering? We are local to WDW so don't need hotels or tix for that. We do love to cruise and would like to travel to more non Disney places as my 4 year old gets bigger.

Could you use more SW points..you could go for the SW business card bonus is 60,000 RR points....if you hit the bonus on the SW Priority in 2019 you could go for the CP

I thought about it, but I don't think we would get a good use out of the CP. We mainly use RR points for my step-daughter to fly down here. And I currently have a $100 credit in her name from rebooking her return last week to a much cheaper flight plus $200 in gift cards from the Amex Plat and I need to buy $200 more to use this year's credit.

I actually prefer JetBlue. I plan to upgrade my card to the plus once I cancel DHs after his anniversary points post. I could maybe go for the JetBlue business. I don't know anything about Barclay business cards though.

I’ve been indecisive about my next card, but I think I finally have a plan. I was trying to decide between CF, United personal (boo, low SUB), United Biz, and SW personal/biz for companion pass. I’m 3/24 currently but have two more slots opening up the first half of this year. Same for P2 but he’s 4/24 right now. I was planning to give him a little break from MSR-ing but I changed my mind. I think what I will do is...

SW biz for me, then
United biz for him (I think current offer ends the end of March?), then
SW personal for me (not sure which one yet)

That way we can start building up FF miles in both programs, and I can plan some short trips with my daughter over the next two years. I can also use CP for the short trip we’re hoping to take this summer so my boys can use their single day Universal tix we weren’t able to use in December (it POURED rain and there were tornadoes too on the day they’d planned to go). I really hate applying for the biz cards. I’m afraid I’ll have to call to verify info or whatever. If you all could cheer me on from a distance,:cheer2::woohoo::cheer2: maybe it will help me to work up the nerve.

Sounds like you’ve got SW covered...I’m not familiar with Barclays at all sorry...hopefully someone who is can help

Here you go :cheer2: Dh and I Have applied for 7 business cards between us...the only time I had to send in verification was when we applied for a card with an EIN instead of using his SS Number....most applications weren’t auto approved...some took a day others a week....I’ve always made sure to reduce CL with Chase prior to a new application

You can do it :cheer2:

I am going to apply for my first business card (I tutor some now that my homeschooler is in college), SW biz, later this week. I got the Priority in-flight on December 1. We'd like to go visit my aunties across the country in May to break in the CP :-)

Just checked into our river front balcony room. I’m very impressed with the Hilton honor process so far. We checked in and got to choose from a variety of snacks and drinks just for being gold members. This hotel offers complimentary breakfast which is nice. We did have to pay for parking but it’s in a parking garage so I’m not mad. We’re sitting on the couch watching wreck it Ralph right now!

Very nice! Remind me where you are? This is a stop on the way to wdw?

While psyching myself up to apply for the SW biz I noticed my Hilton points from biz SUB just posted. So I redid our Hilton reservation for Tucson in March. Now paying for 1 night out of 7. Hopefully we’ll be able to get enough points to get all 7 nights free, but pretty happy with these results so far. 4 plane tickets for nothing but fees as well. Rental car will be next. Not thinking about the scorpions people so don’t bring it up!

Also, totally envious of everyone heading to Florida right now. Whatever the weather, it’s better than here! I know it’s always nice at WDW to be able to roam jacket free, so that is my wish for you! :wizard:

It's been a week and no $10 back from Amex for my Shake Shack meal, so I SM'd and I get a rather unhelpful guy who, after a long chat, says it can take up to 4 weeks to post! I still don't think it's logged in right somehow. He finally agreed to manually do it.. I'm not holding my breath on this one.

@calypso726 I had no idea you didn't like the ocean. I think you're brave for booking that Maldives trip and I hope you are able to enjoy the water in one way or another.

@Lain Thanks for that link. I'm honestly laughing out loud at all those card names.

Have a wonderful trip! And enjoy the movie - I know it's one of your favorites!
