I have a CitiBiz AA card. I want to cancel and reapply. Anyone had luck canceling by chat or otherwise online? Or must I call? What reason do you give for closure? How long after canceling can I reapply. I think I recall @Andysol has done this.

Sorry, another bank bonus question here. For those of you who have done the PNC bank bonus - how did you close the account? I usually have a small balance in accounts and either go in and personally close, or do via SM. But, for PNC I've been keeping it fee-free by maintaining a $2k balance, and I'm scared if I transfer the money out then I might get hit with a fee. I could call them and ask, but thought I'd seek advice here first. Thank you!

DH tried to close in person and it had been just over 5 months since opening. They were going to charge a fee since it was less than 6 months so we’re waiting until February 15 to close.

Most reports I followed pulled the money out down to $0 and then SMd to close. As long as it gets closed in the same cycle you won't be charged the monthly fees.

Just submitted my SW biz app. Fingers crossed. I don’t have a flight planned with SW anytime soon. Hoping the public/referral offers increase before I apply for the personal. We do have a flight with Delta in March. Any way I can use that to get a better than public offer for SW? Do they still have kiosks in the airports? I’d track one down if it could help me out with more than 40,000 RRs.

Working on our house and had to buy over $900 worth of crap from Menards tonight and of course I didn't have an MSR to meet. So freaking frustrating. But I am trying to stick with my plan of culling cards. I don't need to pick up more annual fees. But still...

I started packing for the Disney cruise today! I've got all my stuff in a carry on. We'll see how DH does. He usually wants to pack everything he owns. Total diva when it comes to having clothes while traveling. :rolleyes2

I'm in the same boat. Mine will be waiting for me when I get home from FL. But I'm not sure what to do either about the personal card.

Yay! We really enjoy DCL, and always take just a carry on (even overseas). It's just so nice to not have to deal with a ton of luggage. Have a great cruise!

@calypso726 I had no idea you didn't like the ocean. I think you're brave for booking that Maldives trip and I hope you are able to enjoy the water in one way or another.

Oh no, I like the ocean to look at. I think it is beautiful and relaxing. I can happily sit at the beach and watch the waves roll in or walk in the sand with the tide lapping at my feet. I love Disney cruises and have no problem being on the ocean. I am terrified of going in the ocean. I have a completely irrational fear of sharks. Sharks live in the ocean, so I don't want to be in the ocean.

I am looking forward to the Maldives trip. I'm not looking forward to the internal drama I will wind up going through as I struggle with the idea of going in and snorkeling or seeing whale sharks. So far, I'm ok with the idea of going down the ladder of the overwater bungalow and into the water while still being on the ladder. If I see a shark, I can climb back up and be out of the water quickly. This idea doesn't seem to freak me out so I know I will definitely get in the water this way and I am pretty happy about that.

Tips appreciated for carry on only. I can’t fathom being able to do it for Alaskan cruise but I’m open to suggestions and tips.

Evening all!

I looked in the hotel review thread and didn't see anything, so I'm asking here: anyone stayed at the Four Points Sheraton Anaheim near the entrance to Disneyland? I'm almost ready to book, except all the Internet reviews about the highway noise give me pause. Is it really that bad? We would just be there to sleep. Are the city view rooms more or less noisy?

Also, I got confirmation my SW Biz points are pending! Yay! Now I'm just one dentist appointment, two cat vet checkups, and one health insurance premium away from meeting our SW Priority spend too :D It's all coming together!

SM through backdoor method.

Services —> Request credit limit increase —> FAQ —> Cancel via SM
Usually takes a day.

Well that makes me feel better about only have 2 weeks to turn this around. I've been holding off on a $200 purchase to put towards an MSR but maybe I'll just suck it up and throw it at the SPG Biz and start using it every other day for something stupid. Shame the statement just closed so it won't get spread out on paper more. Wasn't 100% sure if I'd get caught up in pop-up-gate but I thought I was such small potatoes I might squeak by this once. I literally only have 2 AmEx cards, 3 total lifetime, and that 3rd one that I closed was a Gold charge card where I paid the AF for at least 2 or 3 years before I closed it. I really didn't think I screamed "gamer" :)

I am by far more of a “gamer” than reluctant DH...he has only three cards and has never cancelled one. At this point I have 4 credit and 3 charge cards and fingers crossed no pop ups. He has also always put a ton more spend on the cards then I have. Just because we do not have a MSR right now I have given him his Delta Plat to put spend on so it is getting some work...not sure if it will make any difference but I figured might as well. It is so frustrating. You finally decide what card to get and then boom! My tentative plan for now is to figure out if he ever gets approved for the Hyatt (not looking good) and if not then try again with Amex. Unless multiple attempts to apply increase your likelihood of another pop up too?!?

Yeah I tried explaining it to my husband, but his eyes glazed over. He tries, but I take care of all this stuff. And he is happy that I do. In the end, I told him basically they were not working in our best interest as they are required to. He was happy to hear they reversed it.

@CaliforniaGirl09 I saw your response on the lawsuit thread. It was a great response and I was happy to “know” you. @marsh0013 my husband is the same way other than the fact he just got mad so the explanation of they fixed it was good enough for him. I was excited enough to get on and post here about it though. For us personally it was not a HUGE issue since I never sat down and calculated how many nights we would get when we bought in this year; it was just a matter of getting the direct points that worked and then the matching UY resale that I wanted. But for people (including those on this thread) who bought in with a certain redemption and vacation length in mind it is pretty horrible way to treat people...let alone members who they are supposed to be looking out for and protecting their interests.

The Four Points is not that close to the entrance. I doubt you could walk. Can’t speak to the noise there but we stayed at Camelot Inn, all the way at the back. I could hear traffic noise outside the room, but not from inside. Our next stay I’m looking at Fairfield Inn or Best Western Plus.

@Lain and @amalone1013 VGCs via Masterpass through Plastiq works as another avenue. I’m going through my stash from the last Staples $200 promo.

So you’re loading Metabank VGCs into Masterpass to pay through Plastiq and that works? I haven’t been able to use VGCs directly on Plastiq and kept getting errors. Should’ve thought to try that.

In related news, I did 2x $500 MCGC orders on my Staples account earlier this week (using Amex Offer and CIC), waited for them to ship, then did another $1k order on my CIC today with no fee despite the supposed limit. It’s gonna be fun times trying to liquidate these $100 at a time.
