FINALLY! I was thinking of you - come on just approve it and give me my dinky 2K limit. Was surprised they gave me 5k!

Did you ever find out why DH was denied?

My plan forward with Barclay is to ride it out and sock drawer both cards after I meet the MSR on this one. I will keep DHs JB biz (for free bags) and downgrade his arrival +. I will cancel
my JB biz and AAdvantage biz at the one year make and then see if I can get back into Barclays good graces.
They sent a letter asking for front and back copies of DL, SS card and a utility bill. Did that immediately and now waiting for a response. I really need that card to come through. Disney pulled the promo from the AA site before I could book so now I’m needing a lot more miles!

@calypso726 how deep is the water right outside your bungalow? I have some fear of water, not as bad as yours, but no way would I get in at night!!!

My expedited CIP should be arriving today - perfect timing because we are less than $1 from meeting the spend on P2's United Explorer. If he bought anything today, that MSR is done and he can switch back to the CSR for general use.

So I got P2 to move from reluctant to accepting of the CC game by dangling a family trip to Europe in front of him. This was months ago. Well, we are getting closer to when I will actually need to book said trip, and he's being super waffle-y about where we should go. He shoots down the places I suggest, but doesn't come up with any suggestions himself (or if he does suggest somewhere, walks it back as soon as I start actually looking at the practicalities). Making me crazy. We've been together for 20 years, so its not like its a surprise - he hates planning ahead, for me half (maybe three quarters) of the fun of a trip is doing the planning! He enjoys the trips we do, and is very appreciative of my planning efforts, but getting him over the hump of agreeing where we should go is such a pain...

This is my daughter -- my husband says she is "cursed by good luck." Latest example -- she left her purse in her Uber ride and it gets returned to her. She has lost her passport and had someone track her down to return it. People return library books to the library that she leaves in random places.

I would rather think that there are many more great people out there then thieves and scoundrels. I've always subscribed to the idea that a very small percentage of people do the bad things and I used to tell my boss that it was 5% of the idiots that caused all our problems, so go find them.

DH and I are going refrigerator shopping tonight. Does anyone have any good advice on how to maximize the spend? I just got a new CIP and Hilton biz so I will be using one or the other.

I’m not sure. It doesn’t look too deep. I may venture down those steps for a closer look tomorrow and see. I doubt I will go any further than the actual steps and may or may not get in the water. I fear tomorrow will be a trying day for DH as I attempt to deal with irrational fears.

ah so there’s still hope! Weird you need to confirm that after you already have a few cards with them?
Which promo did they pull? That stinks? How are you dealing with 2 separate mile pools? Split reservation?

OMG! Not only have I left the keys dangling in the door, I've left the door wide open. Not funny. We live in a neighborhood where we are well known and I feel safe but you never know what weirdo may come along. I've gotten better about checking things before actually sleeping.

Actually....now that you mentioned it....he did the same thing a few years ago.....left the door open all day while we were at work...we live on a small block that’s horseshoe shaped so not much traffic thank goodness

I check that the front door is locked before going to bed, it never occurred to me to open it and make sure the keys were not in it...now I make sure his keys on on the ledge too

The good thing about the Citi Premier mailer is it lacks the 24 month language. You can only get one bonus every 24 months, so if you've had a Preferred/Premier/Prestige in that time-frame you would be able to get another bonus with this mailer. Citi TY points are worth considering imo. You can transfer to many airlines. If you have the Premier, you can redeem at a rate of 1.25. I haven't tried to book a room for Disney, but I did call about tickets and was told I would be able to redeem my points for tickets...I posted about it on Dischurners.

This would my first Citi card. Very interesting point about this mailer bypassing the 24 month language. Will definitely go to Dischurners to read your post.

@Tikitoi - GREAT card, rare mailer. Hang on. This isn't the grAAvy train, but the grTYTYvy train. Premier points can be used in Citi's portal at a redemption rate of 1.25 cpp. They do have Disney hotels, although the rates seem to fluctuate wildly when I check them every so often. Definitely deals to be had.

The reason more people don't talk about this card is because TY points are hard to accumulate given Citi's restrictive anti-churning rules. The difference, of course, is mailers. AA mailers are discussed much more widely because they are readily available and fairly easy to get if you want. Premier mailers? They don't come around very often.

It's up to you if you want this card, but this is what I would do: apply for the public offer for the Citi Premier on Citi's website. It's the exact same 50,000 TY points after $3k spend. Get that card, wait 60 days (to be safe), then apply for another one using the code in your mailer. That mailer bypasses Citi's anti-churning rules. Also, there are targeted offers out there for 60,000 TY points - there's a decent likelihood you will be match to that offer on both cards.

60,000 + 3,000 + 60,000 + 3,000 will net you 126,000 TY points, worth $1,575 when redeeming through Citi's travel portal for hotels. You can also transfer to airlines. Or, a little known fact, you can cash out those points toward a mortgage or student loan payment at 1 cpp by calling Citi. It's a little weird because it's a check sent to you but made payable to your bank, but it worked fine when I did it last year.

Definitely look into the card more. I think this is a very valuable card that shouldn't be missed, obviously.

So glad to hear you can book Disney with this card. Would be glad to accumulate that many points for a long overdue Disney trip. Will definitely look into seeing what public offer is available for this card very soon. And will definitely hold onto this mailer since I have until May 15th to respond .

ThanKs for the info.

So I went to apply for DH's CSR. It directed me to sign in, I did - hope that was ok. Tried it several times and kept taking me to sign in page. Just had to put in his income and phone number. Then got this back "We need to review your request a little longer. We will let you know of our decision as soon as possible." Guess I'll be stalking the status line. How long do I wait to call?

I call immediately lol...and one of the applications was approved right a way...others have taken 10 days

 I like to think that way. But then I also had a grandpa who was in law enforcement who lectured me from the time I could walk, about locking doors even when home, locking the car, and never leaving anything visible in your car. And the one time I left my sunroof open my car got set on fire. :sad2:

In churning news I got my bonus points for when I referred my sister for the CFU. Now she wants to go for the current CSP offer. I told her to wait 30 days...

I just received a offer via mail for a Citi Premier Card. 50k points after $3000 spend. Is this one of the cards for the grAAvy train?

It's a personal card. Do the business cards have AF's?

Ordered sweet tea at a Southern style restaurant in Atlantic city and couldn't drink it. Too sweet for me. Had to have my regular sweet Pepsi. :drinking1

See the bolded part above. That is the problem. You can't find true Southern sweet tea anywhere but down here. My wife's tea is liquid gold. The only time I have a meal without sweet tea is if I am outside the South, and then I am having withdrawal symptoms. Yes I am a sweet tea addict!
