See the bolded part above. That is the problem. You can't find true Southern sweet tea anywhere but down here. My wife's tea is liquid gold. The only time I have a meal without sweet tea is if I am outside the South, and then I am having withdrawal symptoms. Yes I am a sweet tea addict!

Does she use Luzianne? That's the only way I make mine.

 I like to think that way. But then I also had a grandpa who was in law enforcement who lectured me from the time I could walk, about locking doors even when home, locking the car, and never leaving anything visible in your car. And the one time I left my sunroof open my car got set on fire. :sad2:

I had a car with a sunroof when I lived in Texas. One day we came out and the sun roof was busted. I learned to leave my window slightly open because the heat may have done it or - someone may have bashed it with a rock, but I have no proof. I had to drive to Corpus Christi to get it fixed in 100 degree weather while trying to hold onto the cardboard I had taped to it to try to keep the sun from turning me into a crispy critter. It was a long time before all the glass came out of the carpet! May never have, because eventually Texas sized hail took care of this car again. I took the insurance money and got rid of the car (paid for!).

I never again wanted a sunroof until they started doing the ones with a moonroof.

Hi everyone!
I'm very much interested in collecting points, gotten some miles and points when I first opened AmexDelta(4/2016) and CSP (1/2017). I also have Chase Freedom (11/2009) and Chase Disney (1/2013) so far, but I'm planning to close AmexDelta and either Chanse Freedom or Disney in a few weeks or so.
I tried to read some tips of how to collect points for travel, but it is somewhat confusing.....anyways if I can get some decent points, that'll be used to go to Orlando with my DH, and 2 kids. If anyone can send some tips where to start, I really appreciate it...........thanks!

Is the Disney the fee or the no fee card? If no fee, no need to close. Also, Chase Freedom can be kept for the 5% categories, plus you may want to keep it for your average age of accounts - older card.

What airport are you traveling from? That has an effect on which card for airline miles.

Do you have a business? Any kind - selling cookies, knitting, selling on ebay....they all count as small businesses.

Are these your only cards or do you have store cards that are recent - within 2 years of opening?

Disney is no fee, I used to have with fee, but downgraded it.
I travel from DTW (Detroit) to MCO
I don't have any business, I sell my unwanted stuff on ebay, but it is not a business.
My newest card is CSP opened in January of 2017.
Thanks again!

I’d keep the Disney card open since it’s no fee....

Do you usually fly a certain airline from DTW ?

Most of us here start out opening Chase cards and ...Selling stuff on eBay qualifies as a business....you don’t need to make a lot of money, since you would apply for a business card with your first and last name as the business name and SS number the business EIN

How much spend can you put on a card in 3 months ? The cards that give the highest sign up bonus also have a higher minimum spend ..for example the Chase Ink Preferred business card bonus is 80k UR points and requires a $5 spend the first 3 months

ah so there’s still hope! Weird you need to confirm that after you already have a few cards with them?
Which promo did they pull? That stinks? How are you dealing with 2 separate mile pools? Split reservation?
It is weird since he already has a Barclay arrival + but maybe something on the biz side?? He app’ed under the 60k so hopefully he is approved and gets that. I app’ed under the 50k and doesn’t look like they gave me the match. I can see the 50k miles on my statement but it hasn’t hit AA yet. Of course, I will ask again!

We are doing a split stay and we need two rooms so for me, the different mile piles is fine. If you only need one room and you are against split stays, there is probably no reason to get a P2 on the train.

It figures something like this would happen since I just opened 2 new cards. Today I opened my fridge and it's NOT COLD in there.

First, I have to throw out all the food and then I have to go shopping for a new one. Ours is old and we are not wasting time/money on repairs. I hate everything about shopping for appliances. I know I have the MSRs to meet but I didn't really need any extra help, KWIM?

I feel for you. Just went through the old fridge dying then new fridge buying process. It was a disaster and I'm still dealing with it.

I wrote about our delivery fiascos earlier, but basically the 1st delivery had a damaged fridge, the 2nd delivery didn't even have a new fridge for us, and then the 3rd delivery was another damaged fridge. It wasn't so much damaged, as we realized there was a flaw in the design of the fridge itself (it was a Fridgidaire). So we gave up on that fridge and decided to switch to LG. The store couldn't just do an exchange, because they couldn't refund us the money for the Fridgidaire until it was picked up. So we had to buy the LG and wait another 2 weeks for it to be delivered/the Fridgidaire taken away before they could process the refund.

Finally, after more than a month, 4 deliveries, and 3 fridges, we now have one that works (knock on wood), but I still didn't get the refund on my CC yet so I have $$$ charged for 2 fridges right now. Dealing with customer service for the refund process is :badpc:

Oh, and word of advice from our delivery guy - don't get a Samsung fridge. He said he picks up multiple Samsungs for return on a daily basis.

We always tell each other the password and they usually end up being close or the same as the rest of our accounts. We share our finances though and don’t have any separate accounts

I don’t think my DH even know his login and passwords for all his cards. He just asks what card he should use!:rolleyes1:teeth:

I so need to do this. DW would not have the first clue where to look if anything happened to me.

Yes, DH and I share our finances as well. Well, I guess I share since I work and he's a stay at home dad, lol, but all of our accounts are joint and the mortgage is in both of our names. I think my car is in my name only, but that is one of the few things, except for each of our credit cards :) But I manage all of the finances, and I really should get around to making some kind of spreadsheet for DH. He's super smart and would probably find a way (we do have a filing cabinet that has all of the various statements for our accounts, bills, stock portfolio, etc.) but he doesn't have the logins or passwords to most of our online accounts, and none of the financial ones. Making note to self...

Y'all. <- see what I did there :rotfl:

Where is my SW Biz SUB???

Statement closed on 03/02 with a balance of over $7,000. The 7,000 RRs have credited to my SW RR account, but no SUB yet. Isn't it supposed to post after statement close?

If the MSR was met right before the statement close date the SUB may post after the next statement closes on 4/2

It took forever for DH's SW Biz SUB to hit his account. As with you, the points from the base spend hit immediately, but his SUB didn't hit until after the next statement close.

So I went to apply for DH's CSR. It directed me to sign in, I did - hope that was ok. Tried it several times and kept taking me to sign in page. Just had to put in his income and phone number. Then got this back "We need to review your request a little longer. We will let you know of our decision as soon as possible." Guess I'll be stalking the status line. How long do I wait to call?

Hope everything works out on this. one. Your experience is one of the reasons I always paste the referral link into my browser in incognito mode.

Good news- you do have a business! The Chase Ink Preferred business card has the best sign up bonus if you can spend $5000 in 3 months. Even better if you can get DH to sign up later with your referral. And do not close the Freedom. It can generate some good UR points. Also would not close the Disney. No need if it is no fee.

Woo hoo! The $5k payment to Natural Habitat for our Africa trip on DH's CIP #2 went through this afternoon. Now our Africa trip is fully paid off (if only there weren't the actual statements to come and pay....) and hopefully we will be seeing 80k UR hit DH's account sometime soon. Nothing like receiving the card on Monday and meeting MSR on Wednesday (would have been Tuesday if not for the credit limit snafu yesterday)!

No problem with split stays - night even use them for a non Disney trip (gasp!). P2 = more points!!!!!

I think for non-Disney, I would just weigh using URs and booking through them and CSR for higher redemption.

Totally agree though that getting a P2 on the train can make sense if you are open to split stays, or if you go frequently and could use the miles sooner. We all know that Disney could disappear off the AA portal at anytime so best to earn and burn with these.

I don't have business EIN.........I only sell my unwanted stuff, and volume is not many at all........ I don't know how that can be counted as business to open business credit card?

I can put on decent amount on first 3 months, I can put most of my bill payment and summer child care expenses, etc.

I can spend $5000 in 3 months, but not sure if I qualify...........doesn't this require you to file something in IRS as small business owner or so? (sorry no clue at all)

You don't need an EIN. Just use your actual name as the business name, your SS number as the EIN, and choose sole-proprietor. Revenue can be minimal - even $1k-$2k works.

ETA: Revenue can even be what you plan on earning in the next year. Many people open business cards when they don't have businesses yet, but are planning on starting one soon ;)

Churning Shower Thought: Yes - from the series of posts you love, that leave you wanting more...comes another SouthFayetteFan churning shower thought:

NEW 60,000 Point Chase Sapphire Preferred Offer:
  • There are multiple reports of Chase matching the 60k offer to folks who signed up for the 50k offer with NO mention of charging the Annual Fee (these DPs are on r/churning AND DoC's post)
  • IF you have a spouse that can refer you - DO THAT and request a match! You get 10k for the referral + 50k for the bonus w/ no AF. If you get the match that's another 10k for a total of 70k!
  • IF you would just be using a DISchurner support link...you have a decision to make. You could just take the 60k public offer and pay the AF and come out slightly ahead. OR you could use a DISchurner link, get the 50k with no AF, and attempt for a match. 60k with no AF would be a real win there ($100-$150 depending on how you value URs) BUT there's a risk you get no match and you come out $5 behind in cash or $30-$55 behind if you value URs at 1.25-1.5cpp.
  • There isn't really a wrong decision here, it just comes down to risk/reward. I just wanted to present some options for those currently weighing their CSP options.
Summary:
1) If you're going for a CSP via a spouse referral - you have a golden opportunity to potentially score 10k extra points
2) If you're going for a CSP without a spouse referral, weigh your options. Potential gain of $100-$150 vs. coming up short by $5-$55.

Good timing for me, I just cancelled my CSP that I had for over 4 years yesterday with the intention of DH referring me for a new one.

He still has not received the CIP referral email I sent him on Saturday, should I resend do you think?

You don’t need a business EIN...I also sell on eBay part time and have been approved for 4 Chase business cards in the last year and a half.
Chase askes for and takes into account your total household income on business applications

They have the most lucrative sign up bonuses....the best is the Chase Ink Preferred CIP...with the 80k URs after spending $5k in the first 3 months......other Chase UR business cards are the CIC and CIU..both require a 3k spend and give a 50k UR bonus
