I've never seen them in CO either. Guessing they are mostly in the south...??
I know of at least two drive through stores up near Fort Collins. One was super goofy where you basically just pulled up under an awning... someone came out the door to your car... took your cash/card and rang you up and came back out with your receipt and the goods. That was weird. I personally have not tried them, I just enjoyed watching from the parking lot of the bowling alley...

Ok all you Priority Pass Peeps and Lounge Lords/Ladies out there, I'm ready for you to burst my bubble! (or should it have been all y'all, or you/youse guys? but definitely not bursting my water fountain, thank you very much, that would be messy :p)

Due to Southwest's extremely generous March flight change policy, I was able to change my flight next week so we're not getting in after midnight AND I changed it so we have an hour and a half layover in ATL instead, which has a Priority Pass lounge and BONUS, it'll actually be open while we're there

Now, the lounge is in the International terminal/Concourse F. Southwest is in Concourse C. Is there any problem getting access to Concourse F to visit the lounge there???

Good news, just take the train thing-y or walk (depending on how much time you have once you deplane) to F. There isn't any special screening or anything.

Bad news, it's not the best lounge-crowded and not many seats have outlets. But...fountain diet Coke and a "candy bar" so if you have a sweet tooth, take a container of some sort for plane snacks (I know this is technically forbidden but a few jelly bellys can't hurt-you can have my allotment since I gave up sweets for Lent).

I missed this response. Wow. Small world. I wonder if our kids go to school together.
It seems there are a few Rhode Islander's here. :goodvibes
My DS is 20 now and just graduated New England Tech. He went to HS in Seekonk. We've only been in Coventry for a couple years. My DD is 3 so hasn't started school yet!

Embarrassed to say that I have never made it up to Ft Collins :o

First I'd like to say 'thanks' for the news section on reddit...since I'm struggling to keep up daily here (IRL super busy) I love the quick check I can do for anything noteworthy..... second- a while back I got an offer to re-sign up for costco membership using autorenew, and they offered a $20 gc.....I still haven't gotten a gc for that, any info from someone here on that offer?
Did you sign up? I did this but sometime before Christmas. I got my 20 GC in the mail well before my renewal date.

Growing up in TX, we made fun of anyone who used the word "pop"- had to say with exaggerated nasal tone - In TX, it's all coke. You go out to eat and the waitress asks what you want to drink. You say you want a coke and she asks, "what kind of coke would you like"? And you say, "a Dr. Pepper, please"...just cause Dr Pepper is the best!
See that just doesn't make sense to me. Why say you want a coke when you actually want Dr. Pepper lol? I grew up in the south so I always called it soda, but when we moved to the midwest everyone looked at me weird so now I call it pop. No one here calls it soda.

I'd feel so odd saying "you guys" to a group of ladies but that probably comes from being raised in the deep south.
Yeah it's not weird to say it here. The only person I know who says y'all is my mom. For some reason, she's the only one in my family that it stuck with. I honestly think she just chooses to use it because she wants to move back south lol

I love these kinds of things. It correctly nailed me as being from the Baton Rouge-New Orleans-Mobile area. Family raised in New Orleans and I was born there, but there's enough influences from the other two cities where I grew up to pick up on the other stuff.

I especially love this question:

What do you call a drive-through liquor store?

My culture shock after first leaving Mississippi as a teenager was finding out the vast majority of people would answer I have never heard of such a thing. We have no specific word for a drive-through liquor store because they were ALL drive-through, so no distinction was needed.

100% a southern MS/LA thing.

I got the same Baton Rouge-New Orleans-Mobile result, which is pretty amazing considering I still live in the same area I was born and raised in, which is about an hour away from Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Lafayette. We have drive through places that sell liquor all over the place, but we don't really have actual liquor stores here. Pretty much every place sells liquor - gas stations, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, etc. It was a huge culture shock for me the first time we vacationed near Gatlinburg and we went to get groceries and supplies for the cabin. I kept walking up and down all the aisles in the grocery store looking for the liquor until I finally stopped to ask someone and she pointed out the liquor store in the very same parking lot. :confused3 I honestly hadn't noticed. Now I'm more used to it when we vacation in different places, but that first time was strange for me. I guess it's just something we take for granted here.

Once DH and I were driving out to Fort Morgan, AL with SIL and BIL for a long weekend vacay sans kiddos and we stopped to have dinner somewhere along the way. I honestly don't even recall which state we were in. I do remember we were in Chili's and there was a special going on - 2 for 1 margaritas....yes please!! So SIL and I each order 2 frozen margaritas, but we're only able to finish drinking 1 of them with our meal. The waiter comes to the table to ask if we need boxes and we asked for "go cups" for our margaritas. The look on this guy's face was priceless. His eyes bugged out and his mouth scrunched up in this really weird way, then he says "I can't give you a cup for that. You can't take it with you. If you want to drink it, you have to drink it here." o_O
We both cracked up thinking he was joking, but the expression on his face showed he was clearly very serious. We ended up having to sit at the table another half hour so we could finish the drinks without getting brain freeze. I suppose this is another thing we take for granted here in South Louisiana. We can get a go cup for any drink pretty much anywhere. Technically we aren't supposed to put a straw in it while we are riding in the car in order to not violate the "open container" laws here, but most people do it anyway. To be clear, we were passengers as DH was driving the car.

I just did this yesterday. No problem getting from any concourse--they are all in a straight line on the train (A-B-C-D-E-F). I will say that the lounge was a bit underwhelming; lots of carbs and sugar options and not a lot of charging stations. There is a self-serve soda machine though, which I appreciate. (DH absolutely hates the AmEx lounges where you have to ask the bartender for a soda; I don't mind as much but I do prefer the self-serve machines.)

Generally, once you get a biz mailer, you should get more as long as you never use it for your name! That's awesome!!

Oooh...nice. So what you're saying is there's a good chance I can push DH directly onto the express grAAvy train, without waiting for the train to make reddit mailer stops.... :scratchin ?! Score. Hope DH likes trains, lol.

I found a reference that said it was a contraction of 'you uns'.

Which is what I thought but first, can't figure out why "uns" however I can at least see that if it was spelled "yunz". Second it's always spelled "yinz" so how'd all the "ooo" u sounds get changed to "eh" sounds? The world may never know, it's the odd evolution of language :) Or it's just not spelled right and it really is more like "yunz".

It is funny how the same state has vastly different dialects. We are divided by a mountain range but according to many folks those aren't really "mountains". But divided enough we have probably at least 4 different regions with separate terminology and colloquialisms. I can accept yinz/yunz and pop, now gumbands… that's just silly :p

Funny I don’t say bubbler either but it’s not weird for me to hear others say it!

Haha! They are roundabouts I guess others call them. And in my area they are deadly no one knows how to drive around in one!!!!!

And yes a group of ladies would still be you guys. And ordering a Coke also includes Pepsi.

Please if I ever said y’all I’d be laughed at.
They just added a TON of roundabouts in our town. We used to have this road with a 45 mph speed limit and a ton of stop lights. It's actually better with the roundabouts so you don't have to slam on your brakes all the time. There are definitely people that still haven't learned how to use them, though. They'll be in the middle of the roundabout and stop for people to get in.....or they'll drive around the roundabout in both lanes. It's kind of ridiculous. You just really have to be cautious of other drivers

I totally agree with you but it's just how it is. Same for tea. If you ask for tea, that means 'sweet, iced tea'. If you want unsweetened, you must specify that. And if you want hot tea...well, they'd look at you like have 3 heads:laughing:

Just took the dialect quiz because I didn't want to miss out on the fun! Definitely got me in California, but interestingly, two of the three specific cities are in Southern California, and I was born and raised and lived my entire life until 2016 in Northern California. There, it had me in Santa Rosa in the North Bay, but I was always in the East Bay, except for a few years living on the Peninsula. Still pretty accurate! For me, the key words were "firefly" and "freeway."

Thats amazing in such a short time! Well done and congratulations!!!

i saw this on Kara and Nate's youtube.
if only @calypso726 and planeprincesses have a youtube channel... :|

I’m still trying to figure out how to use Insta! FB I get, because I’m older, so there’s that. You Tube channel is also on the horizon of things I don’t know how to do yet but will figure out too.

@calypso726 added a review to the Hotel Reviews thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/d...s-so-much-thread.3680669/page-6#post-60395185

Add this to a list of places that LOOK AWESOME but I'll never go...haha! No way is my wife taking THAT flight!

It was a long flight to be sure. We were lucky and it only got bumpy once and just for a few seconds.

We should be in the Maldives in a few days and there I will definitely commiserate with your wife. I’ve no idea if I will be able to get in the water and actually snorkel. I’m going to try not to freak out just because PlanePrincess will be in the water snorkeling. My stomach is in knots just writing that out. So far the deal is I may or may not try snorkeling depending on where my panic level is at. The only thing I am definitely willing to do is enter the water from the bungalow while holding on to the stairs so I can jump out quickly if necessary.
