Those of us in the Citizens bank footprint, pretty awesome bonus came out - https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ct-d...-vt-citizens-bank-200-400-600-checking-bonus/

If I'd have closed my account right I'd have maybe made it since you have to have the account closed for 6 months to be eligible. Now I'm locked out on this one but this is where staggered signups can help, hubby has never had a Citizens account so this might be his turn. :teeth: Just have to approach carefully, he just opened another Chase bank account over the weekend in person. He got targeted for the$300 biz checking and he didn't want to risk trying to open it online (code was for in branch opening). So he drove over and sure enough got the guy who closed his personal account last year :rolleyes1 but all went well, even if the guy was probably disappointed hubby declined opening any more CCs. Our giggle for the weekend was the estimated business revenue bands - banker asked if he wanted to use actual revenue or estimated revenue, so any chance to be vague we'll take it for the "biz", went with estimated and find out the lowest band is "less than 1 million". Seems about right to me, let's take that one

I am honestly so amazed at how much your schools cancel classes! Our roads can be an all out skating rink here and they don't close. They close for blizzards and/or very near or below 0 temps. That is it. And our district does not have a late start policy so it has to be bad enough to close or school is in session.

We got 8" Friday pm-Sat am and my ds7 still had his basketball game at 8:30 Sat am lol! And that is through a church league so could have easily been cancelled but they just don't cancel here. Being from TX, where they closed the whole town up for a flake, it's so weird to me still. Even though I have lived here half my life now.
The school I sub at is in the country so lots of gravel roads. They just wouldn’t have many kids come to school. Most of them would stay home because gravel roads don’t get plowed often. The town I actually live in does have school tomorrow.

Ah, ok, that makes more sense. Just curious why you don't sub in the town you live in?

The schools have completely different atmospheres. The small town I sub in has one elementary so I know all of the kids in the school. In my town there are about 8 different elementaries. The small town school has an associate in almost every classroom to help with kids. It makes a huge difference having an extra adult in the room. There are also a lot less behaviors since it’s a small farm school

So I’m actually having a conversation about this on a different thread. There’s a poster saying they book for their friends who stay offsite. That just doesn’t seem right to me.

ETA: Which apparently is allowed. I just looked at the fp faq thread and as long as they are linked to your mde you can book fps for them. I didn’t know that

Well to be honest, I am glad it is an option. We stay on site at a DVC 98% of the time and nearly each visit we are there to hang out with our friends who happen to be CMs and live nearby. These are close friends who we have traveled with on numerous cruises and other vacations over the years. I officiated their marriage at WDW and their DFTW vow renewal at Aulani. So we look forward to catching up and hanging out when we visit WDW. It would make no sense for them to book a room when they live 10 minutes away and work at WDW. It would be an awkward trip if we were unable to go on the same rides together.

Ah okay. I think only one of my cards has a high credit limit. I normally get much lower limits than Dh does. He might be the one that needs to think about lowering CLs.

From what I’ve read here it’s best to keep CLs with Chase under 50% of household income...Iusually lower mine to around 30%

All this Citi grAAvy FOMO i went ahead and applied for the biz. I got a 7-10 day message. I have NO relationship with Citi so I’m hoping that’s why but I’m a bit worried.

I'm holding firm and not jumping on the biz track right now. But all this AA talk is hard! Trying to formulate an actual plan.

Yesterday I was sitting on my couch and just thinking about the good old days when you could get any card for any issuer at any time as long as your weren't a deadbeat and paid your bills.

Oh well I guess.

Wow I did not know this..my son lives locally and we always have him stay with us....Seems like it could be abused though

Heading back home from WDW today. It's been a long, but good trip - 2 nights Boardwalk studio, 6 nights Kidani savanna view studio. My parents joined us at the beginning of the week, and DW's dad joined us at the end. Although I like riding the train, heading home is the toughest part because when I'm ready to leave, I just want to go home. DW will land later this afternoon, whereas I won't make it home until tomorrow morning. Just part of the deal. If I had enough points, I would have jumped on the train yesterday, but it was way too expensive because coach was totally sold out and only one handicap sleeper was available. Oh well. That train made it a few minutes early this morning. Hopefully that's a good omen for tomorrow.

DW has me looking at add-ons for DVC BWV. I admit I loved it there too. Kidani is nice and super relaxing, but there's nothing like walking to my favorite park (Epcot). Maybe Disney should look into a new credit card to churn DVC points.

You can check, but I did not see the basic personal Bonvoy Amex (the old SPG personal card) being able to generate any referral links to the Business or Brilliant when I checked a few days ago.

If you can refer from DH’s Bonvoy Amex (old SPG personal), that would likely be 20k Marriott points to DH’s Marriott account. If it’s not possible, the next best thing is to refer from DH’s Platinum to the Bonvoy Biz for a 15k Membership Rewards bonus to DH’s Amex account, which he can transfer 1:1 to his Marriott account.
So for my SPG Personal I get an offer to generate a link but get an error when trying to do it. Did you get a link but it just didn't offer the card family options? Not sure if it's a temporary problem or the real error is offering the link in the first place. :)

Well, bummed to see the Citi AA biz mailer news, but not surprised. I'll wait and see if I get a mailer for my dog (uhh, I mean my son...) here soon, and if not then I'm willing to burn a 5/24 slot for DH and I each. I've got 6 Chase cards and no plans to pick up any others soon since I just got the Hyatt. Need to pick up a CIU for DH sometime soon. Maybe this Friday...

If you don’t want any more chase cards you can still get a two personal cards every 65 days. (Wait 8 days between them) I have personal mailers if you need one.

Does this 1 every 8 still work pretty reliably? I thought I had seen it was not working much lately, and 1/60 was far safer. I am sitting on a Premier mailer for DW while we work on the spend from the public app, but if 1/8 actually still works I'll just pay our rent at 2.95% and be done with the MSR.

Question for the AmEx experts out there. Hubby's ancient Green card is coming up for renewal next month. He confirmed it's at the old $55 AF and between that and only being offered $100 for a referral bonus rather than MR points like everyone else, it's pretty certain he's got a discontinued version of that card. It has no benefits to really speak of and since it's discontinued it won't automatically get the refresh if they roll it out. Do you think after we cancel it he'd be eligible for the bonus on the "new" Green card? If it rolls out with the Amazon Prime membership included we'd consider it, but mostly for whatever bonus they offer so if he's not eligible we'd wait it out until we'd "need" it.
Circling back on this, anyone have any thoughts for me?

I have one biz and was approved for my first personal. For my second personal, do I need a mailer? Signed up everyone and everything in my house for aa accounts a few months ago and have gotten nothing in the mail
