I'm back to reconsidering doing a different Character Breakfast with the grand daughters. Not cancelling the idea, but I just read a review and found another of interest to me.

Topolino's Terrace at Riviera has a character breakfast that includes Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy and Pluto was on the terrace - the others do table visits. Of course it's brand new so not too many reviews. Also, not overly focused on the actual food - we will eat whatever is available. It's more the experience I'm going for. Pete and his crew did a video just this week and you can find it in the sidebar Disney News and Updates. Would I ride the Skyliner there? Probably not. Easy drive from Boardwalk, though. Any thoughts?
Thanks for posting the $ breakdown for the Dining Plan. The Dining Plans have been off our radar for a long time (basically after they raised the price the 1st time lol). But it is a really great value for our pre-trip trip. We just booked CP for lunch on arrival day but Riviera sounds really interesting too, will definitely go check Pete's video out.

That’s a great offer! I’m not sure which color package we are on but we love Sling. We initially just signed up for ESPN through football season but we kept it after and have had it for a couple years.
I ended up signing up for Blue and orange plus DVR for $45, now on promo for $30 and it triggered my Amex offer for $10 off. Put our Hulu subscription on hold for 12 weeks. We like Hulu but it went from $45 to $55 yesterday. But DS is already complaining his Pokémon show is not there. 🙄
So confused. I see a pending $40 credit from the Residence Inn NYC (dd and I stayed there after Thanksgiving on points). But I didn't have any charges.
Crazy weird charges/credits past few days. DH ordered an item from ShopDisney, about $40 with shipping. I chatted with them and they credited the shipping charge. Yesterday I get an email that the item shipped and also see a credit from ShopDisney for $39.99. Today the item arrived, 39.99 credit is gone, $32 charge appeared. And there also a pending $1 charge from FedEx I am concerned is fraud. Right after I bought gas yesterday. Ugh.

So Serve/Walmart computers having an issue today. Just stopped at the money center to start to liquidate the cards from staples and od/om. CSR said we’ll try but having issues all day. Didn’t load ☹

Maybe I’ll wait until after Christmas and hopefully the overload on computer systems is better.

Traffic was crazy so that is another reason not to venture out until after Christmas.
Crazy the serve website was down this morning too, looks like it’s still not working >:(

edit..after researching, it appears the Serve issues are due to Jackson Hewitt offering Refund Advance Loans on Serve cards starting 12/18 and the number of people signing up
I couldn’t load Serve at Family Dollar this morning either. The guy told me all the stores were having issues.
Hopefully it’ll be back up tomorrow.

Joining in the off-topic medical posts to ask if anyone here has researched the current shingles vaccine. DH and I are now old enough to be in the recommended age group, and I am seriously considering it. I am in general a very pro-vaxxer but I seem to recall some issues with the effectiveness of the previous shingles vaccine and maybe of this one too. I'm leaning toward getting it because shingles scares me more than a (possibly ineffective) vaccine but I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of you lovely people here.

Also, someone earlier today mentioned eggs and cholesterol. I did a lot of reading about eggs a few years ago when DH and I got serious about cutting carbs, and what I read convinced me that eggs really do not raise cholesterol. I'd also be interested in thoughts about that, too, even though I usually don't eat a lot of eggs.

I got both doses, and DH just got his first one. I think it's better than getting the shingles, which I hear is quite painful and which had led to permanent issues in some extended family members.

Happy Mama here tonight. DD is home for a visit and reports that the brioche she got in economy on AF today was delicious. She also successfully navigated a very tight (a bit under 1.5 hrs) connection in CDG this morning, so it can be done if one is lucky I guess.

For those of you who have gotten a pop-up but then later were able to escape it and carry on... how long did you wait between attempts? (I know there are no hard and fast rules... merely trying to get a feel for what others have done). I know each attempt is tracked (at least, I THINK I know that each attempt is tracked), so I don't want to seem too desperate, but I also don't want to wait any longer than necessary. Just looking for some others' experiences.

Man - it's been a long time since I was trying to appease Amex. I think I waited 2 months between mine while putting some spend on my cards... (It didn't work - and I haven't tried Amex since then)

DISchurners - Membership Year In Review:
2019 marked the welcoming of 164 new members to DISchurners! I'd like to thank each and every person who joined us in 2019 and I hope that your churning year was very successful and that finding this group had a positive influence on your churning "career".

We averaged 14 new members a month. March was our highest month with 24 joins and October brought us 20.

I was somewhat concerned to see that we have only added 2 people in December BUT when I look back at last year we also only added 2 people. So perhaps this time of year brings a lull in the action.

To the Lurkers and Newbies Among Us: We will soon be moving to our new thread (v3.0) for 2020! If you haven't had the courage to speak up and introduce yourself please do so. This game is very cyclical for some people and thus as we lose old friends, we always look to bring in new friends. You probably sense some nature of community in here, and that's for good reason. By not only sharing our churning activities (and wishes and dreams) but also personal experiences and stories, we have created a true community of friends. You too can be a part of that, it just starts with saying hello and opening up to us a bit.

To those who have fallen away from churning or the group: Now is as good a time as ever to jump back in! Despite churning "doom and gloom" all around us, the game remains rewarding! As I said before, I know the game is cyclical and people fall away, but if you were once a part of this and now largely silent, please know that WE MISS YOU!

Lastly a comment on Loophole Discussion moving to DISchurners: The moderator group made a difficult call this year to take discussion of certain loopholes (aka "advanced strategies") OFF thread and place it on DISchurners. That was to protect both the loopholes and the users. It clearly has affected the volume of comments and discussion as you can see we generate far less pages each day. What's odd is, we weren't filling dozens of pages with talk of the CIP card or AA miles... yet somehow it hurt our community. This thread has a certain buzz about it, and that buzz attracts others, and that buzz can generate support link opportunities, and mostly that buzz can help new friends find their way to free travel in this crazy game. But unfortunately the buzz volume has been turned down a little bit lately.

So how about this - I know for the next 2 weeks the thread will be slower. It happens each year around Christmas - as well it should! Enjoy your family and friends IRL. But when January comes around and we're all stuck back in the office - let's place a renewed vigor around bringing the BUZZ back to "I Love Credit Cards v3.0". 2020 is going to be a great churning year and I want each of you reading this to be a part of it!

If anybody has any ideas on how to inject energy in our community or improve the balance between the DIS and DISchurners I am all ears!!

Oh hey - now Raise has a 4% promo code... so apparently yesterday's folks are out of luck suckers...you only got 3%. What's that mean...will they go to 5% tomorrow? 6% on Monday?? I need to buy Disney GCs and payoff my trip (through a TA) by 12/26 so now I'm not sure if I should wait for a few more % points, lol!

Have you tried any of the MR (biz or personal) yet to see what happens there? My favorites are BBP for 2 MR per $ and no AF, Personal Rose Gold for 4x on grocery and dining and Plat (Personal or Biz) for the 100k sign-up if you can snag it (look to see if you have the personal on Cardmatch). If you hurry, you could triple dip on the Gold or Plat airline credit and Saks credit on the Personal Plat or Dell on Biz Plat.

I’d wait at least 30-60 days. I know you want those Hilton points.

And just my luck, not been keeping up with all the deals lately and on the same day I asked hubby to mail out a gift at FedEx to use the AmEx offer DoC posted a $5 coupon I missed -
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/fedex-5-off-15-on-ground-shipping-in-store-only/
And despite the shipping being crazy, he sent it anyway without asking :headache: He's got the 25% back AmEx offer so takes some sting out but the coupon on top would have put in more in the expected range. Win some, lose some.

Wait them out to get the best deal you can. I'm sure your TA is patient ;)

Oh Amex...guess you have to monitor how the people you refer to behave now too

Looks like Amex took back this person’s MR from a referral for abuse becayse the person they referred to closed the card in under a year. Updated ToS indicates you also cannot get a referral bonus if someone who has the card already uses your link.

Checking in from the Borgata in Atlantic City. Wanted to test out a few status matches posted on the blogs. Specifically, the Wyndham/ Cesars match and finally matching to MLife which owns the Borgata.
I started by matching my IHG Platinum which comes free with the IHG card (I have the $49 one) to Wyndham Diamond. It took a few days but it matched. Then I matched Wyndham to Ceasers Diamond. With that you get a $100 celebration dinner at a Ceasers property in Vegas or AC. We used this at the buffet here in AC.
Finally I matched my Cesars Diamond to MLife Gold. I paid for a low floor room but was upgraded to the 35th floor. Don’t know if my status had anything to do with it.

If anyone has a personal citi diamond card - there are some good deals on gift cards through citi easy deals. Got a Walmart $50 Gc for only $35. These deals come and go, but just thought I would mention it. I had forgotten about them, only ordered them once or twice in the past even though it’s my oldest CC that I have. I’m going to check more often now.

I'd also be interested in thoughts about that, too, even though I usually don't eat a lot of eggs.

I did cut egg consumption during my turnaround period to 2-3 per week. I should say 2-3 per week became part of my food plan. I avoid the word 'diet' as it doesn't fit my goals. Healthier me is my goal, not size or weight. But size and weight follow when I do the right things. I just think the word diet is somehow off putting. People are resistant to it or place unrealistic hopes on special diets.

Okay, back to eggs - it's not like I consumed dozens before. I just became aware.

Now, eggs are part of the overall picture and I probably eat 3-4 per week for variety. Usually I will boil a few and eat them over 2-3 mornings as a protein source. I occasionally make a 2 egg omelet, maybe once a month, and at one point I fried an egg every morning before work and ate it with 2 slices of Canadian bacon and one slice of toast. I don't think eggs in moderation hurt cholesterol but I don't do anything like 2 eggs every morning 7 days a week. I think that is over doing it.

Also since I mentioned boiling eggs - I boil for 2 minutes and let sit for 10 minutes covered. Then ice bath to chill them. Results in firm but tender eggs.
