What I should be doing right now: sleeping

What I am doing right now: searching for something else to watch on Disney+

🤣

EDIT: and now I’ve started “Saving Mr. Banks”...a 2+ hour movie at 1:15am... I make bad choices lol. I won’t finish this tonight. Just starting it!
The night is still young!

Amateurs :rotfl:

Honestly, I only stay up all night because I have to, and tomorrow will be spent blissfully sleeping as long as I want because apparently my kids don't have school, so there is no need to either stay up tomorrow morning until they leave or be awake in the afternoon when they would normally get home.

I think I'm gonna have to cave on Disney+. We do have Verizon but only for cell phones and for some reason I was thinking the Verizon angle was only if you had their "home" phone service... but I need to go research it.

Not at all! Wireless customers on unlimited or 5G home get Disney+ free for a year! Log-in to my account, go to add-ons, and click Disney+. From there a code is generated and you are brought to the Disney+ homepage. Create an account and you are all set for a year!

Only new Fios subscribers get it. Current Fios subscribers are ineligible.

Ohhhh boy. We do (I believe) have unlimited cell phone plans (well, two phones under one plan)... will have to double check with my husband on that. I know we do NOT have 5G home.

*runs off to find out what "Fios" means*

ETA: We aren't eligible for Fios in our area... boo... so much for that!

Is this just for international travel? We've always had lap babies and never been charged for them, but I've never flown international.
I think all airlines charge this internationally if you find an airline that doesnt let me know :)

I know that reliev has already answered you, and you responded, but I wanted to second this - every carrier I've ever looked at charged this for international flights. :-( Also, we found that this was charged when flying 'domestically' in some other countries as well (for example, Bangkok to Chiang Mai).

(Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, btw - I'm in Europe right now, which means that I have 10-15 pages of posts when I wake up in the morning, and then almost nothing until late afternoon here!)

Since you all got me started on them. JCPenney has Packing cubes in their black friday ad. 5 piece set for $10.
Thank you, that's a good stocking stuffer and way to introduce my DDs to the cubes. I contemplated buying eBags but didn't want to spend that as I am not convinced they'll convert from their stash and dash ways.

We flew with my older son from NY to Amsterdam when he was 14 months, wasn’t quite walking yet, it was super easy, had a layover in Dublin, it was good to get off and stretch our legs and have some breakfast. we did not buy him a seat though and he slept on me basically the whole way. Got there, Tried to get him on his usual schedule in a new time zone. Stayed up most of the day, had dinner and in bed at 7. He slept til 9 the next morning, although he ended up in bed with us and nursed a bit overnight. Ended up on a 9p-9am ish sleep schedule which worked well on vacation.

My son is easy going and loves traveling. Now my dd is not that trip would have been awful with her. We went to visit my parents in FL over Easter when she was 9 months and I basically got zero sleep the entire week and it was miserable. She’s two now and finally getting to be easier to travel with. We went to Disney when she was 14 months old and she basically screamed the entire flight due to wanting to get out of her seat and not being able to. She does this in the car too, but there we are not annoying 150 other people.

I would wait to book til the baby is 6ish months old and you get to know their personality. Every kid is different and while yes you can travel with kids, it’s more fun with some kids than with others lol.
This happened to us also with DGD but we had no indication ahead of time. When we finally landed and were getting up from our seats there were some cute college/high school age girls a few rows back and they were like "Oh look at her, she's soo cute." DGD turned around and hissed at them. She was not much better in April when we went to DVB. Sweetest little girl but a complete gremlin on the plane. I booked them on a different flight for our upcoming DVB trip in March, not to be mean but it just worked out better that way ;) ::yes:: :goodvibes.

My mom is asking me for advice on CC points. She's never really used a card to earn points beyond her Costco Visa. Her and her husband want plane tickets to Hawaii for sure but I'm not sure what else they would use them for beyond that. She says neither of them have opened cards within the last two years so I believe they are wide open for Chase. I'm not sure if they have ever opened cards with lifetime language from Amex since they would have been done many years ago. I was thinking CIP but I'm not really confident in that. Suggestions?

Which card(s) depends on where they are flying out of and what airlines they are likely to use. If they are flying out of the west coast and have many AA flights then I'd suggest UR cards with points transferred to BA which can be used on AA saver award flights. If they are on the east coast and near an AA hub then AA cards from Citi and Barclay would be the best bet. Get the Barclay cards first since they have become more inquiry sensitive. If they are near a United hub then I'd suggest UR cards plus a United card to get better availability and extra UA miles. However, keep in mind that UA has gone the dynamic pricing award route.

My travel hacking joy of the day: Persistence pays off! Over the summer some friends asked us to spend New Year's (my birthday) with them in Key Largo. They have a boat and are docking at a Hilton property that is part of the Curio collection called Baker's Cay. Sadly, there was no availability for a one night stay on points and the cash price is over $1,000 for one night o_O 5 nights was available on points but I didn't want to blow 5 nights worth of points to stay only one night. So, I booked a Hampton Inn nearby. I've been checking the Hilton site periodically to see if any one night availability came up for a points stay on NYE at the property where our friends are staying. This morning was a success! 60,000 points for one night on a room that is over $1,000. I never thought I'd get a better CPP value on HH points than our over water bungalows in the Maldives stay. I'm pleased to be wrong about that. In my head this makes up for blowing points at an LAX airport Embassy Suites stay next year because I don't feel like paying real money for it and getting a really awful CPP value.

Well i'm having no trouble finding availability on other routes, so i have to assume the system is fine. I am surprised availability is as scarce as it is.....but then, I am also not surprised....Brits do love to go to Orlando.
That just seems absolutely crazy to me.

We watched the 2nd mandalorian tonight. I'm still pretty underwhelmed but my dh and dd's all love it so I guess I'm in the minority lol. I really want to like it but it just kind of bores me and it's so dark (actual lighting). Dh & I watched 'waking sleeping beauty' last night. I enjoyed it. I like the 'Imagineering Story' better but definitely enjoying learning about the animators.

What else is everyone watching and liking?
Dh and I are on season 3 of boy meets world. I just recently started that’s so raven and we watched the movie Jump Ship or something like that over the weekend. I watched two episodes of the Jeff Goldblum snow and hated it

Yep! They lied though. The ad said it’s normally $349.99 so it should’ve been $250. It’s not a huge deal but I feel used lol. I wrote a note for Dh and left it on the bathroom counter. He chose delivery instead of pickup at the store even though our store had it in stock. He said he didn’t want to deal with it lol

I did the same because Target this week is bound to be chaos!!

Nice!

A little underwhelmed by the early access for REDcard holders. 34 pages later I ordered 1 item:

View attachment 455097

No movies included, but if you want any Burt's Bees or Lip Smackers products you are in luck. There are PAGES of that 😒 I was even contemplating a new Blu-Ray player, but it wasn't included from what I saw. I'll check back tomorrow at this time!
Totally unimpressed....My brain decided 3 am was a good time to wake up, so I spent some time perusing the 34(which reduced to 33 during that time) pages.... Stocking stuffers and video games galore! Meh 😒

Did you get the $250 price? This is what I'm seeing.
