Pleasantly surprised to see the 150k Hilton bonus from the Aspire in my Amex account this morning. I guess I mis-added my transactions yesterday, as I wasn't expecting to see it yet.

Should have the Hilton Biz spend done soon as well, and I'm planning to hit $15k on that card later this year. Between the two SUBs, the free night from $15k, and the free night from opening the Aspire (which should post later this month), we'll need to make some Hilton plans! But I think we've already booked all our travel for the year. Off to do some research!

The airport just called and said they have our bags and that we should get them Tuesday. She asked if there is anything we need by tomorrow and I said no. I’m just happy they have our bags and they will be here soon.
Glad they found them. Now I would call guest relations and tell them your situation. There’s no reason they shouldn’t give you something especially since you will be without your bags for over 24 hours. I’ve never had them give points but they have given luv vouchers. Those do expire 1 year from date received. They should also give you $50 as day reimbursement for lost bags. Your DH could go buy a new workout outfit and they will refund up to $50 a day. DH had his bag lost a few months ago and was able to get everything refunded up to $50

NYers, (@palhockeymomof2 I think you said LI), if you haven't seen it on DoC yet, there's a new bank bonus in NYC - https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ny-only-first-national-bank-of-long-island-500-checking-bonus/

Have to open in branch for a $500 bonus on a free checking account, but some branches are only $400 (listed in the post and comments). This one has to be open for a year to avoid claw back, so a little long but that's a nice looking bonus.

For the rest of us nearby, they'll open with out of state ID. It's tempting to make the drive; I could do it for about $25 I think.

Yes...thanks on LI...will look into this

I've been seeing some talk about partial refunds for the CSR annual fee. Mine just hit and I was thinking about downgrading to a CF possibly. Could I spend on something quickly to get the $300 credit and then downgrade and get part of the fee back? DH also has a CSR so thinking about downgrading mine and just having his to get the 1.5x redemptions through the portal when needed.

I know I can downgrade now and not pay the fee, but thought it might be worth it so get the $300 credit and just a partial refund, but not exactly sure what the rules are.

Thanks!

My AF hit on Jan 1, the last day of my billing cycle. It was due on the Jan 27th. I quickly used it up, I paid ahead on my EZ pass, I bought DD an Amtrak ticket back to school and I still had $150 left to use. So I have a room reserved at Universal, picked a room and date that would get me closest to $150 deposit and I have a reminder on my calendar to cancel room in about a month. I got all of my $300 travel credit and my $450 fee back after I called to cancel on the 25th of Jan. I am not exactly positive what will happen when I cancel the room, but I was told by some on here it should work where I just get a refund on my room and no consequences for it being part of my travel credit. I didn't have anything else to pay at that time, so worth the gamble.

There is a targeted amex offer for $10 off $25 at grubhub. I didn't have it on my account but dd had it on her au rose gold card.

I just added it to my Rose Gold. I used my $10 a month credit last night by sending younger daughter out for food with the Rose Gold and a free slice, plus the $25 gift card I got at 20% off during Dec. I was actually thinking of doing the family takeout meal from Maggianos instead of CF and half wondered if Grubhub would work on that as a credit, but then decided I had a less cash out of pocket deal with CF ($27.xx)

Then I got an Amex email that I used my offer. I'd forgotten about the extra point offer I'd added to RG a couple of weeks ago, so 5X on my little spend. Neither of us ate the strawberry topped cheesecake she brought home....

edit: I should note the cheesecake will get eaten probably today, but meal portions are so big it's a little much to eat with an app plus entrée.

DW is interested in the Citi AA Executive ($450 AF) card. She's going to be flying a lot of AA this year and want lounge access. This one is rarely mentioned on r/churning, for obvious reasons, but does anyone know if there's a higher offer to match this one to, like the 70k/75k regular AA cards? Additionally, is 1/60 now a hard rule with Citi, or are people still able to get cards through 1/8?

And, I got an Amex offer for $100 of $500 at St Regis (in NYC). So I checked a random weekend and found the lowest cost room (superior king) for $591 with a senior rate, plus $148.05 in taxes and fees on Friday March 1. I did not check for a points room on Saturday (60K still). $50 of the fee is food and beverage credit, so almost reasonable. Combine that with some Amtrak for free transport and I would have a place to stay and a way to get there. I'm sort of tempted by the experience. If they would take my Marriott gift card for the remainder over the $500, I'd be really tempted - I could rationalize $400 out of pocket.

I wonder if they would let me use the Bentley to get around.

Add me to the one and done, needle and pain fearing list. I was so on the fence about getting an epidural but, luckily, I had DS in 8 minutes so there was no decision involved. It wasn’t happening.

I started the reminders early with DS about not anything permanent, tattoos, gages, etc.

LOL-a friend of mine did my epidural and he was so dreamy (kid you not) that I didn't want to speak up and tell him it wasn't working on half my body. Life lesson: don't let a super cute longtime crush do your epidural:laughing:. So I've had the experience of with/without for childbirth and have an only child :teeth:

You beat me to it! I have it on my gold too, so happy Monday morning to me! I looked at the St Regis offer but since it wasn't on my SPG Lux didn't add it. I'm getting greedy, wanting as many benefits as possible.

Looked in my informed delivery and there is a 20% off everything coupon for BBB. Haven't gotten one of those in forever. And then I realized it was not in my name but had my younger daughter's name on it. I'll still be using it when I need to.

Also my electric non bill since I still have credit from last August. Next month will take care of the remaining $75 of credit. Then I'll pay monthly until I apply for another card. And I'll probably double what I put this time. It felt strangely nice not to have pay electric each month. Weird as it's not like I get it free.

And another Amex offer I got was for Lebanese Taverna $25 off $100. I like this food every so often, but we are unlikely to crack a $100 as it's not high priced and we don't eat a whole lot. I think I'll call to see if they have gift cards.

Checked the website and yes, they have gift cards, so I have to go by Tyson's Galleria this week anyway. You can buy egift online but I worry that it wouldn't credit as it is through giftrocker. Thanks Amex!

I just chatted with a Hilton honors staff member about adding points to our reservation for Tokyo. I didn’t realize it was so easy. She took care of it in like 5 minutes or less. I was worried we would have to cancel and rebook a new reservation to apply more points. We earned points from our hotel before wdw and those points essentially took off $66 of our reservation which is cool.

I've never done a points/cash booking before. Do they take the points from your account immediately and you're billed the cash rate when you stay? This might be a good option for me booking for Japan in 2020 as I'm not sure how many Hilton points I'll have when I need to book.

Me too. I've been telling myself I will get a tattoo "some day". I was going to get a tramp stamp for my 40th birthday. 10 years later :rolleyes1 I can't decide on what exactly I'd want. I think the idea of getting a tattoo seems to be in the same category of getting a horse for me now. As long as we don't say it will never happen and keep saying that "some day" it might ... everybody is happy. In the meantime, I will enjoy the ink on others and dream about my own "some day".

I can hook you up with a horse if you get the itch, haha! I told DH the only tattoo I would ever get would be Olympic rings if I qualified. I don't think just attending in 2020 is quite the same though, so no tattoos for me!

I'm seriously considering the upgrade to the R-C card. I'd like to maximize some benefits as well. I can make the 50K certs work. Not at R-C per se but for other redemptions. A $450 annual fee makes sense when you can cash in more than half of it plus use the free night for $500 or so in value. I like having a range of values to suit my lifestyle as I can go easily from a Country Inn and Suites to the St Regis without blinking. I don't have to have luxury and service but I appreciate it and feel comfortable enjoying it so why not? I just don't want to blow my retirement fun money on it, so churning helps with that!

Thanks - I need to think about what I could quickly use the credit on. We have a trip to Vegas coming up, but it's all already paid for by other means. I could call the hotel and see if I could change our payment to this credit card. Unless I think of something else in the next couple of days, I think I may do that.

How exactly do I go about changing my Southwest flight if the points have dropped? The flights have dropped about 500 points each, which would be 3000 points back since I booked six tickets for my trip. Do I just do a change flight? Does it change all the tickets at once?

Dang it my gift card purchase on DHs SW biz was too close to statement close - I was really hoping 3 full days was enough. Not the end of the world. More annoyed because I'd like to book the June flights with points and then just monitor them. Right now they are 26.5kpp RT, and we need 4.

Are all 6 tickets on the same confirmation number....if so you put that information in under change flights....they select the same flight...to get back the 500 points per ticket....there have to be 6 tickets at the lower price to do this

If different confirmation numbers everyone must be changed individually

I’m glad they found your bag. Are you going to call Chase to see if they would reimburse you. Sounds like your DH not having any work out clothes would be an emergency and they should cover that.

All the same number. I just tried that but it says 0 point difference, so I guess that must mean there aren't enough tickets at the lower price?

Glad they found them and you won't have to drive to pick them up! Surely there must be some sort of compensation or credit SW can provide. SW is usually great with customer service. I would try both SW and Chase. What can you lose?!

I had two different anesthesiologists do an epidural for me, for two different kids, and both times it only numbed one leg. Not very helpful for childbirth pain. And no added bonus of a dreamy doc. :rotfl2:

In my churning news, I received an email to upgrade my hilton honors no fee card to the $95 card (ascend, I think) for 150K points for $3K spend. Sign me up! Finished the spend on my CIP and DH's IHG premier so signed him up for a capital one venture. For no real reason other than to diversify cards, we don't have anything but chase and amex. And no real plan going forward except to apply for whatever looks good whenever we meet a MS. :D
