DD talked me into taking her to see Alladin today. I really enjoyed it. I haven’t seen any of the other Live action remakes and was worried I would not like it, but I thought it worked. Honestly can not remember last time I was at the movie theater. Thought maybe it was Magic Mike, lol. But DD says I took her and other DD to see Imitation Game, so maybe 5 years ago. Really bad that I can not remember that! Lol. I do remember seeing the movie, but thought I saw it at home. Just as I suspected, our theater is still the same. No recliners, no reserved seats.

@Albort I can't believe I forgot to mention. If you are in Grand Teton NP around Signal Mountain Lodge at a meal time stop by the Trapper Grill. HUGE portions (but most you can order half portions) and great views of the mountains and Jackson Lake. My DD and I stayed at in a cabin at Signal Mountain Lodge and ate there 2 nights. Yummy.

I’ve been checking every so often to see if the 60k offer for personal came to support links... and today I noticed this weird language about “any SW card” including biz cards. Of course I broke the news first here - then took it to r/churning. LOL! I also tagged DoC on Twitter so perhaps I can be the primary source of major churning news...

(I’ll try not to let it go to my head...but it may already be too late for that) :rotfl2:

Does anyone have a car service they use in LA/Disneyland?

I emailed one needing a ride from San Pedro Cruise Terminal to my DL Hotel with a short grocery store stop. They would send me a Suburban with a minimum of 3 hours for $345. For 31 miles and less than an hour drive? Uhm, no thank you.

I've been watching Lyft the last few weekends and they want $80+ for the time I need and it's an hour wait, so if I can hire a service for around $100-$150 it would be worth it to me.

Used Lansky's a couple weeks back to take some of my group to LAX after their time at DL, was $130 for the trip ($5 dollar discount for liking their facebook page), is prepaid, and does not include tip which is typically 20%. The trip to DL does include a grocery stop I believe. My family was happy with the service, although I did not personally experience the trip! From their report comfortable vehicle and timely.

Off topic but I just decided I could not miss the chance to see SWGE while it was still reservation only so I pulled the trigger on a one night DLH hotel stay for this Friday night and talked a friend into driving out with me (from Phoenix). It'll be $$$$ but what better chance to put it on my shiny new CIP, right????

We'll be late arrival Friday night and then have most of Saturday in the park and then drive back that night but we just couldn't stay away, even at the ridiculous hotel prices.

We wont have a car there, and only plan on renting one for the day to see Valley of Fire/Hoover Dam, so no real use for the free parking either.
Would love to hear about the Valley of Fire after you do it. I am thinking about a trip next spring to Valley of Fire, Death Valley and Joshua tree. We weren't able to get to Valley of Fire when we went to Vegas/Grand Canyon/Zion/Bryce 2 years ago. I loved the Hoover Dam tour, the one where you get to see more of the dam. You get to go back areas and peer out one of the holes in the side of the dam. It was really good.

for the yellowstone/grand canyon trip how many days would you plan? so torn on flying vs. driving but thinking we could do more if we fly

@kidsfirsttrip -

Whaaaaat??? American Adventure is a "must do" for my family. Every trip to WDW. It's pretty cool and I like it more than the Hall of Presidents. AA is also a lovely place to go during the heat of the day - the theater is huge and nicely air conditioned. I might have a few friends who go there for a quick nap. ;)

We did this last trip on our 4 Park day. Epcot was park 3. My kids didn’t remember doing it before and I told them they would like it. They are pretty nerdy and like history lol. We ended up running to make the last show after we ate. They were both a little cranky afterwards that we wasted that time. Lol I used it wisely and slept. Haha. But they were like we could have ridden something instead of watching that boring show. I think their complaint was with the content, like it white-washed history or something. Hall of Presidents I like to just watch them all move. I find it fascinating. When my DS was little, he came out one time and said Wow, I didn’t know they all lived here. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

So with the CIP under the 3% cash back for "travel," does that include hotels as well as airfare? Too bad it doesn't include fuel used while traveling!

Woot! DH got instant approval for Amex Plat 75K (incognito) using my Biz Gold link! That should result in 80K MR (75k + 5k MSR) for him and 20K MR for me. I was worried he'd get a popup since I canceled both his BGR and Biz Plat within the past 5 months when the AFs posted. I've been putting spend on his AX Gold (4x groceries) and BBP for Amex offers (and absolutely nothing on his other Amex cards) so I guess that was sufficient.

I've started the whole Wyndham status match to get Caesar's Total Rewards Diamond status, and I'm hoping his new Plat will have the Caesar's Amex offer on it. I'm going to switch my SW CP to him so that we can make a quick weekend to Vegas while DD is at camp. I'm trying not to think about how hot it will be in July. The last time I was in Vegas was in 2007...

Yes, hotel and airfare. The travel category may not cover gas, but it covers tolls, parking garages/lots/meters. It also covers travel agencies, like Last Minute Travel and Undercover Tourist if you need to buy discounted theme park tickets.

@calypso726 - that's a PLANE???? Wow!!!!

So with your mention of transfer points... What order do you do things in when actually getting ready to book anything (hotel or flight)? I am worried for example that I'll think I'll have enough UR points or whatever and then when I get to the point when I am ready to transfer I will be short, or something.

Is the amount of points needed (for anything) highly variable or what has your experience been? I know I have so much to learn and I am so very grateful for all the tips and advice you all are willing to share!

I should say I don't have ANY points YET but I am working on it!
I wouldn’t book any hotels until you have your flights booked. A lot of the ones on the chase portal are refundable though. All of the ones we booked were refundable for our Japan trip. If you book through Virgin Atlantic for an ANA flight the mileage doesn’t change. It’ll be 90k per person for business class no matter when you fly. I’m not sure about the other airlines but I know united switched to a variable mileage system.

The amount of points for a hotel on the chase portal can change so we looked every so often. We never had to change but you could cancel and rebook. The one thing to note about this is if you don’t have enough points right that moment to rebook you would have to wait until the points are refunded back into your account. I’ve done it with Hilton and the points were put back into my account really fast. I’m not sure how quick chase is about that.
