I'm going to Japan in November and sounds like there's other planning to go as well. Is there a separate thread just for Japan planning with people from this thread? (I joined Disboards a while ago but I just started using it more lately)
Maybe a reddit thread would help everyone planning Japan trips here? If people listed their plans for using points and such and others could see/compare/borrow ideas? Didn't we have a Hawaii tip thread at one point?
I'd be happy to contribute my Australia plans/thought processes/redemptions if we had an AU/NZ thread on reddit :)
Me, too, assuming y'all don't get sick of hearing me talk about it! @mmmears has been before and has given me some great tips, too. Everyone is SO helpful here! :)
That would be so awesome and helpful. I'm new to reddit too how does one get it started or maybe someone can start one? Also, I'm going to Hawaii (Maui & Big Island) in two weeks. How do I find the Hawaii tip thread on reddit?

Suggestions noted. We'll get separate posts up to gather tips for travel to Japan, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. There are already threads in the News & Discussion that have links to our recent discussions about these destinations.

For now, since @ep1229 is heading to Maui and the Big Island in two weeks (have a great time!), here are recent posts with tips for Maui (and Oahu): And I recall @wanderlust7 has a trip report that includes her trip to the Big Island floating around somewhere.

Hmmm. Trying to decide if for DHs gross income, do I put income I've been using the last two years (which was 2017's income and I kept putting it all of 2018 because it looked like it'd be the same but then 2018 was lower), or do I go ahead and put our now 2019 income which is gonna be 30-40% higher than 2017 (because all of the 2018 jobs paid in 2019) :P
I'd go with your projected 2019 if a lot of those jobs have paid out.

Thank you @Lain

Auto Approval for CIP 3 for DH! $5k limit.

Other CIPS:
5/18, $10.5k limit lowered to $3k 3/19
3/19, $9k limit, did not lower yet.

Will be closing the 5/18 one this month.
Was your AF for the 5/18 one not charged on 5/1? My DHs was, so I closed it yesterday to get the refund. Should have app'd him for CIP 2 before my trip so could have closed yesterday and there would be no app delay. I was so busy though. Now I have to wait a few weeks to app him for #2.

No, I assume it will post today. All of my other Chase cards have had the AF post on the 1st of the next month. For the 5/18 one "he" applied 5/13/18 and AF was charged 6/1/18

Last night I redeemed my small stash of HH points (63K or so) for 1 night at the Auckland Hilton (on the waterfront) to spend the night after cruise pre-flight home. This trip is coming together super quickly!

For fun, I looked up the pricing on my flights (not that I would ever pay the prices but nice to know what all the card jockeying is worth)...for LAX-SYD two in Qantas first it was almost $19k while business in Virgin Australia it was actually only around $4k on VA website (v. $9k on Deltas). Still, better to use points/miles, especially with the biz plat refund.

Next goal-booking PH Sydney with URs, gotta get cracking on that!
Did I miss which cruise you'll be doing?

PH Sydney--the Park Hyatt? I really want to stay there :)

If I missed this conversation yesterday, I apologize. This week has been something else for me. But for @Albort and others who buy iTunes giftcards to sell... you might want to liquidate fast. iTues is going away according to Bloomberg.

i believe its just the iTunes program thats ending, the app buying will still exist and we still need a way to purchase apps and music.

:tink:your stomach.
(Am I doing this right @palhockeymomof2) :) :)

If @amalone1013 gets :badpc:
I say @palhockeymomof2 gets :tink:
I want this one: :teacher:

Any other thread regulars wanna “lay claim” to a smilie??

I really like :rolleyes1 and the dictator should have :mic: :rotfl2::rotfl:

I’m reading a little more about this right now, and it seems Apple will kill the “iTunes Store” as we know it. Details are unannounced. But it seems, as I mentioned above, that Apple will just split their services and related content into different apps; music in a Music app, tv episodes (and probably their upcoming tv streaming service) into a TV app, etc. But you should still be able to access your already purchased content, purchase new downloads, subscribe to services, and stream the same content as before in these new apps.

As for iTunes gift cards, Apple has millions (if not billions) of dollars worth of liability in the form of iTunes credit/gift cards out in the marketplace. No way can Apple wipe that out with these changes to how they structure their services. I think if anything, “iTunes” gift cards will be rolled into your Apple ID account that can be used to purchase digital services (but not hardware, since Apple has “Apple Store” gift cards for that).

There are a lot of people with pc's that also have ipods that don't do apps, ie the shuffle and nano. I need my podcasts and if I can't get them on my ipod any more I won't spend a cent for anything apple again, hardware or music.

All the iTunes talk revolves are the app. But for those of us with a PC and not a Mac it's not really an app. How will ours change? Bloomberg says it will mainly affect Mac users. Not really concerned about losing my purchased music, but having a big issue with all the personal music I have loaded over the years.

Need some Hyatt expertise. I am looking for 2 nights in Seattle in July. Yeah I am changing up my plans. I was going to use my free IHG night there but now I want two nights and not willing to pay cash or points for a second night at the Kimpton. Looking at alternative IHG properties in addition to Hilton and Marriott. I don't have any Hyatt points but found a place for 15K points a night and I believe I can transfer URs to Hyatt. I just made a Hyatt account last night so I guess I am a World of Hyatt member now!

The Hyatt Place Seattle/Downtown say "This Hyatt Place hotel now offers free breakfast exclusively for World of Hyatt members on a qualifying stay." Does that apply to any member level (especially my lowly 1 day membership) and points bookings? Is there a limit on the # of people? There will be 3 of us.

Does anyone know about this property to recommend or not recommend?

Your spreadsheet has trip reports too!

I never did finish it , but it's 80-90% complete. @ep1229 it's in my signature, or if you're on phone here's the link:

It has a lot on Volcanoes National Park and on the Hilton Waikoloa. Not so much elsewhere on the Big Island. My top most memorable experiences on the Big Island from previous trips, are snorkeling at Kealakekua Bay (Captain Cook Monument) and snorkeling with manta rays at night. The snorkeling at Captain Cook was bathtub calm with so much colorful coral and fish.
