So maybe I shouldn't worry as much about 7 Chase cards in 20 months? Either that or shutdown is imminent for him...
I'm at 6 in 20 months with Chase:
CSP (now CF #2) 8/17
CIP 11/17?
CIC 5/18
CIU 11/18
Southwest Biz 1/19
Southwest Personal 3/19

I'm waiting until May for CIP 2 (CIP 1 is closed). I've hit all of my minimum spends (including Aviator Business and Citi AA Biz) and I'm sort of bored!

Also for those interested - here’s what that user has done just 7 months into the game:
CIP (10/18), Amex Personal Plat (11/18), CIP (12/18), Amex Hilton Biz (1/19), Citi AA Biz (2/19), Amex Biz Gold (2/19), Amex Bonvoy Biz (2/19), CIP (2/19), Barclay AA Biz (3/19).
Add another CIP to that list and you have 4 Chase biz cards in 7 months (all CIPs) plus 1 Amex personal, 3 Amex biz, a Barclays AA biz, and a Citi AA biz. 10 cards (9 biz) on 7 months. Definitely a nice run...

Whoa!

Someone mentioned a change with SW CP. Sorry I don't remember who. What was the recent change?

I applied for the personal, that's the only one with the elevated offer. I mentioned the biz version because typically biz and personal are the same offer (85k, annual 40k bonus), but the biz has a lower AF (and as such it's a better ongoing deal if you plan to keep it open).

I'm trying to get up the nerve to apply for the business card. I don't want to be denied....might wreck my day, lol.

I would also keep it open at 60$.

Edit: and I just checked my personal account. It's anniversary is 5/1. I think I'll apply tomorrow. They will be adding my 40K in May, and with the extra card, the timing would be nice. Build up my points to 225k and get 80k a year for $135. Up to now I've been spending 15K here and there and it's been paying off, but I can do much better.

I know you'll all understand.

I was in a hurry the other day before work. I placed an ebags order with 15% cashback at Ebates, a coupon, and what I thought was my DH's Amex card with the $20 off a $100 bonus offer. I spent $83 and used the wrong Amex card---business instead of personal. Oh what joy! :) I can only laugh at myself. My "great deals" turned out to be a total #$@% up. What in the world was I thinking?!

I bought a gift card once to use up an Amex Offer (not for eBags). This usually works, but I didn't notice until it was too late that the gift card was processed through Cashstar and not the merchant, so it didn't trigger the offer. :sad1:

Fortunately for you, eBags has a pretty generous return policy, 15% and 20% cash back on Ebates comes along often enough, and the Amex Offer doesn't expire until, iirc, June.

Congrats!!! I don’t think I realized you could self-refer for the CIP! That is awesome!
Thank you!

Thank you!

Yes - that’s why the focus on multiple CIPs is so huge. It’s a 105k UR proposition for most people. If possible, I’d say better to do a refer between players vs self-refer but not everybody will have that option.
Yes, I couldn't turn it down compared to the 53,000 URs from the CIC. I will get one by applying again or PCing if declined. Hoping the Chase gods are on my side because it was approved :lmao:

I was just over 3 months by like 5/6 days from my last CIP. I needed to do it because it hurt booking a flight with URs and seeing those points go away forever. Another 105,000 should make it a little better. I was afraid the extra CIP loophole could go away before I applied.

I'm at:

CSP- 9/17 (now CFU)
CF- 10/17
Marriott Biz- 1/18
CIP- 5/18
CIU- 11/18
Hyatt- 1/19

So I guess I could close CIP 1 in May and then do CIP 2 and a Hilton card on June 1. I'd at least be 2/12 then.

No, the change happened last year. Chase implemented new restrictions on the Southwest personal cards that make it harder to earn the CP through credit card signups.

Under the restrictions, (1) you're limited to holding only one open Southwest personal card at a time (you will be rejected for a second personal card if your first personal card is still open); and (2) you will be rejected on a new application for a Southwest personal card if you received a bonus on a Southwest personal card in the past 24 months (whether or not you still have that card open).

It's still possible to get a CP by getting the SUBs from a personal Southwest card (as long as you qualify under the above restrictions) and a business Southwest card.

For those of you who've been around for awhile, you may remember my dd18 has a chronic illness. She is sick again and it's a bad flare. I've spent the day on the phone with doctors trying to get meds called in and then running around to get meds (spending a small fortune...). Appreciate any prayers or thoughts for us both. She's in pain and I'm worn out.

Sorry to hear this. I hope she has a speedy recovery.

That seems pretty safe to me. I just need my CIP in hand to pay my 1st quarterly tax payments by 6/15. Will take care of the minimum spend in one day:)

Oh no, your poor baby... I thought DD18 was doing so much better recently. Sending positive thoughts out for her. :grouphug:

Poor kiddo, poor mama. Really hope that she feels better quickly.

I applied for an was approved for the citi aa biz 40,000/2k offer with statement credit today! Yay! Not 100% sure of my plan for these points, but I’ll use them somewhere.

Can someone remind me how long to wait between applications so I can put it in my calendar when to apply again?

That's possible. Chase has typically done the 90 days since account open date, rather than funds deposit date, and it'd be the Tuesday following that. But maybe it was set for the 23rd in your case which would have missed the deadline for this week's posting and it'll show up on the 30th?

If I was doing my maths right the Biz checking accounts have been following that pattern so we're expecting hubby's on the 30th as well, since 60 days from account open is today. Oh poo, just realized we'd not be a good DP for that theory as he opened the account with the 1k required funds so it really has been sitting there for 60 days as of today. Fingers crossed for you anyway, at least you have the SM to refer back to.
You were 100% spot on with your Chase bank bonus posting timeline! I think Chase holding the funds from the ACH transfer and me asking for the match pushed the timeline back a bit. Thankfully I did not waste an SM on this. HAHA

I just checked my Chase app and I have the $200 pending in my savings account and $100 pending in my checking account for the combined coupon that I asked for the match on. Should cover the AF of the CIP I was just approved for very nicely ::yes::

My dd19 has a chronic illness, too. Flares are the worst. Al the best to her and to you

I'm holding off on paying the last $800 I owe on my WDW trip in case I do end up picking up another CIP. I have to get DH a Hilton Biz before Amex realizes we're not spending any money on his Bonvoy Biz anymore though... :rolleyes1:duck:

I’m so sorry to hear this. You, your DD, and family are in my prayers.

We are back from NYC - I will try to do hotel reviews on the other thread when I have a minute. The short version is that The Lexington (Marriott Autograph Collection) is perfectly fine, and was reasonably priced. The Chatwal (Marriott Luxury Collection) is absolutely phenomenal, but pretty pricey. Worth the splurge this trip, but now I never want to stay anywhere else in NYC and it is hard to justify spending that many points (of any flavor) on a hotel room.

We were moderately spendy on the trip, but my dental work came in cheaper than expected, so I've still got some work to doon the MSR for my CIP. Have a plan to get there, though - spent yesterday evening at the emergency room with DH.

He's fine. He took a header on his bike yesterday afternoon (not moving fast, he was wearing a helmet). Banged up his face, shoulder and hand, and was feeling kinda dazed. All seemed ok, but a few hours later he had a kind of small seizure and passed out on the couch (scary - eyes rolled up, uncontrolled movements, not responsive for a couple of minutes). I had just called 911 when he came back to himself. I decided not have an ambulance come, but took him over to the emergency room right away. They checked him out - just a concussion, and he hasn't lost consciousness again. He's home today, pretty sore and his head hurts some, but he isn't nauseated anymore.

Also, my dental work was pretty painful, so they kept asking him if he needed anything for the pain, and he was saying "no, I'm fine" while I was sitting there going "noooooo, get some serious drugs and slip them to me!" We didn't get home until well after midnight, so I'm tired and my mouth still hurts like the dickens.

We have a high deductible insurance plan (with an HSA we can use to reimburse ourselves) so I'm figuring that last night was probably good for a good chunk of a MSR... always looking for the silver lining.
