I’ve had to daisy chain some accounts...is there another Chase account that URs are being transferred into your DHs CSR...if so transfer from your CIP to that account..then to the CSR
so..... say P2 has a personal CFU acct, and now a biz CIP acct- I would transfer the UR to his own CFU,then over to my CSR?

We have an HSA account to go along with our high deductible (6k) plan.
I make contributions thru payroll deductions and my employer does too.

I am paying for our 6k medical expenses using credit cards to meet MSRs and then withdrawing the same amount from HSA as it builds up over the year.

Are there any issues with this that I'm not seeing? Tax, etc.

Thanks

trying to pin down exactly what is the best spend for CIP..... office supply?

I am jealous of everyone with the Honda Odyssey. I drive a Dodge Grand Caravan that I purchased from my grandfather's estate after he passed away. It's 11 years old, so DH suggested we test drive an Odyssey, and I LOVED it. The Dodge still has a couple years left in it though.

My DH currently drives a Subaru Forester, but before that he drove a terrible, old Acura that was constantly breaking down. He bought it from a neighbor when we were dating in grad school so he would have enough savings left over to get me an engagement ring. So he got the good car once I had a job and we had some money, lol.

I meant to comment this before, but I don't know how I totally missed the fact that CIC is 0%. I know CIU is. Not that I had a reason to use my CIC 0% for anything, but I guess I just like to know those things in case something ever happens.
I told DH this the other night, how I'd forgotten it until Lain pointed it out. He was just like, But... we pay everything off each month... :rotfl:

I've been doing this for the last two years. I just make sure to keep receipts/bills and I put them with my taxes at the end of the year. I usually only have around $200 though because it's pretty much just my contacts/eye exam charge. I know @SouthFayetteFan does the same.

Temp -16 now. I’m seeing one day in the next eight that we are expected to get up to 2 degrees. Otherwise lows of -14 to -31. Highs 2 degrees to -13. On the bright side, yesterday morning I found a week at the Marriott Grande Vista in a 2BR for the middle of March. I got flights yesterday morning. Then, our flights out came down this morning and 20,000 SW points went back into the account. DH agreed to come again:love:.
Time to go out now and make sure the horses water isn’t frozen.

Last weekend's movie was All the President's Men. This weekend is the Maltese Falcon, I've got to pick it up tomorrow. I've decided to try and watch an old movie every weekend this year. Suggestions welcome :)

Great idea - I've been thinking about The Sting (my all time favorite movie), Cool Hand Luke (ok, maybe I just really like Paul Newman) and Casablanca. My teen hasn't seen Casablanca yet - next time we are watching something without our little one, that's going to be it. We just watched The Parent Trap (the old one, not the Lindsay Lohan version) with the whole family - not quite what you are looking for from a classic movie perspective, but its so much fun.

This is very much a Dischurners sanctioned approach. On the Disney/FIRE thread our benevolent dictator (not sure if he's a dictator over there, but he did start the thread) @SouthFayetteFan mentioned this very strategy. I've just switched over from using my HSA card directly for medical expenses, and its really easy to do in my HSA system - it is linked to my insurance, so it tracks what the bill was, how much was paid by insurance and how much is "unpaid" by the HSA. I can either have the HSA send money to the provider, or have it reimburse me. So we are now using credit cards for all our health expenses and then getting reimbursed by the HSA. You can do the same thing by just keeping a file of the bills you pay by cc, then withdrawing an equal amount from the account, but I like the easy tracking (and it all feeds into my YNAB budgeting software which is nice too).

@Lain just ordered $1k in MCGCs. That seemed too easy haha.

Now if only I could convince DH that we should leave that $1k, plus whatever other part of the MSR that goes towards my car, sitting in the Savings account earning 2.2% until December and then pay the CIC bill before the 0% is up.
what do u guys plan to do with them? curious how u guys are dropping them...

i use CIP on Venmo and Giftcardmall.com... nothing much i do with it.

I just got an e-mail offer for the Mileage Plus Club Card from Chase. $450 fee waived for the first year. Offer ends 1/31. I guess they want people to act fast!
Any signup bonus? When they waive the fee they don’t offer any bonus.

I’ve been doing this for about 4 years. No problems. That being said, I keep all receipts/documentation.

Small victory--I needed something (okay wanted something) at Sak's, today was 5% (vice usual 1%) back at Upromise so after the Amex Plat $50 back AND Shoprunner) my $168 purchase is $110 ($50+$7.50 from upromise) which means it's 35% off and I can almost justify it to myself. It's the little things like that which make me :lovestrucmy plat, still.

I have an HSA through my employer as well. This sounds great!

I had never thought to do this! We have an HSA, and my DS uses up the individual deductible around March of every year (he has 2 congenital heart defects that need monitoring), and that would eat up a gooooooood chunk of an MSR really quick!!

ETA: He also likes to break bones, had his 3rd broken arm in November (and he's my cautious kid!) - will be using this strategy to pay our portion and help meet P2's CIP MSR!

Thanks y'all!!

I don't think a dictator stops being a dictator, however benevolent they may be.

Just going through Plastiq to my car loan. Otherwise was just going to do a straight $1000 on my CIC, so with the extra step I get extra URs...

Around the first time I needed to pay for something HSA eligible in my first year of my HSA, was around when I started this hobby and I was so pumped haha. My ebay business has great vision/dental benefits :P

My tank heater started leaking the other night. So frustrating.
I have two Ritchie waterers. One is 28 yo one is 20 yo. They were the best investment I have ever made. I sometimes have freezing if wind chill -40.
