Did your former employer offer any job hunting assistance? An outplacement agency (paid for by your former employer) can be of tremendous assistance with important things right now, spiffing up your resume, practice interviews and in general moral support.
If they haven't, try to call them to see if its not too late to include it in your severence package.
Good luck with everything! Don't forget to smell the roses along the way on your new journey! When my DH was in a similar position 2 years ago, he took time to occasionally chaperone on field trips that DD's class went on, and they went on other little excursions while I was working. It was a special time for them. And every once in a while, my DD (now almost 10) still wishes for when dad wasn't working!
Unfortunately, no one in this situation can whip out a crystal ball and predict how the story will end...just know that it does end, and it usually ends for the better!
