. . . do you have to have an AP to use DDE? I'm not saying I want to use someone else's card or let them use mine, but I wonder if you have to present both cards when using the DDE, or if they just ask for ID. Here's my thinking: If I were to purchase the DDE card at the parks right before my AP expires, wouldn't I still be able to use it and get the discount even though my AP had expired? Strange question, I know, but I'm just curious.

I will just answer the simple part and not give any opinion on the rest...

You are right that you would be able to purchase your DDE card before your AP expires. The process is all done electronically. At the restaurant they require your DDE card and a picture ID. They swipe your DDE card when they adjust the bill - another electronic record.

So the question that comes to mind is...since it's an electronic record, do they watch for the AP expiration date???

Yeah, I was thinking in the past that all I ever had to show was my DDE card and an ID. And I don't think they could check your AP status from your DDE card. But maybe I'm wrong.

I posted something similar to this elsewhere, and the consensus was that I should be ok using my DDE card even though my AP expires 2 days before my trip is up.

Having an AP is only a requirement to actually purchase the DDE card (unless you are a FL resident). Once you have the DDE card, it does not matter if your AP expires before the DDE card does. :thumbsup2
