and it's kind of a dumb question, but I'm a noob, so cut me some slack. We are staying at the Cabins at Ft. Wilderness. It is fine for us to book meals at other resorts, right? We want to try Boma, among other resort restaurants.

Also we're going on Thanksgiving. Is it less crowded to eat at a resort rather than eat in the actual parks? Or should I just order a pre-made meal from Publix and avoid the Thanksgiving meal crowds altogether?

Thanks.

Welcome to the Dis!!

You can absolutely eat at any restaurant anywhere on property.

I have never been there for thanksgiving so I don't know anything about that.

Enjoy your trip!

You can book meals anywhere you would like. Parks, resorts, wherever you want. Even those who stay off property are allowed to eat anywhere on property. :thumbsup2

Can't help you on the Thanksgiving question since I have never been there on that day. Sorry. :confused3

Thanks for asking the great question regarding the Thanksgiving crowds! I'm curious on that answer too as I'm toying with the idea of going then too... ;)

You can eat anywhere you like. Yes, it will be less crowded at the resorts than the parks for Thanksgiving, but if you want a restaurant meal on Thanksgiving Day you should be sure to make a reservation no matter where it is.

Awesome. Thanks for the quick replies! I'm trying to get everything organized as I can make ADRs in just a few days. This is exciting!

As for Thanksgiving, we can cook in the cabin, so I think that may be the way we go. Since we'll be there for an entire week before Thanksgiving we may just take that day off from park hopping and just relax at the resort. :thumbsup2

Welcome to the DISboards. If I were considering the Thanksgiving meal, I would also cook in the cabin. I also would not park hop on Thanksgiving Day.

Something to consider is buying most of the meal from Publix. If you have a rental car, you can get to three Publix stores on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to get all of the meal. And, you can get precooked turkey specials.

As an avid camper, although we bring our trailer, we have done Thanksgiving several times. The crowds are medium-heavy usually, but ADR's are impossible to get, plan ahead if you decide to eat outside your cabin. A relaxing day at the campground is a great way to spend the day. I would recommend a meal around 3-4 and then go hang out at the campfire and watch the movie for a nice relaxing finish. Another option, is eating outside the parks. We have done Golden Corral for Thanksgiving dinner before and while it isn't as good as a home cooked meal, it is much easier.
