Wouldn't Pirate Island be awesome if there was some sort of food service available on the island? Especially during those hot summer months. What does everybody think? Keep it the way it is or possibly add a nice restaurant in the fort area? My hubby and kids get hungry after we've been plundering the island for treasure! And yes I understand it would have to be closed during Fantasmic but at least have something operating during the heat of the day

I think so! I agree that it has potential for something creative, food service-wise.

Back in the early '80s, my friends and I would get delicious lemonade on Tom Sawyer's Island, and it was so refreshing on hot summer days. Suddenly the lemonade changed and became watered down and flavorless. That was the beginning of the end!

I have made it a must-do on the list to visit Tom Sawyer's island on our next trip- we've never gone over there!

I do like your idea, too!

I agree completely! On my past trip we were on the island and it suddenly got so hot, I was thirsting for a lemonade or air-conditioned place to relax badly. Turning the fort into a restaurant would be awesome!

Didn't they used to have Mountain Dew over there, in tin cups? This was the 70's, and I am dating myself.
I have not been to Tom Sawyer Island ( Pirates Lair ) sine the early 90's......

I also remember the lemonade
I think a drink and snack shack would be fabulous out there

I don't know if this has changed recently... I know Disney struck a partnership with Odwalla (owned by Coca Cola) to offer Organic Sweetened Lemonade at various locations. Perhaps (hopefully) the quality has ventured back to the glory days with this change

Let's hope so! That's a promising sign that the taste might at least be better. It really went downhill for a while. I have no idea what kind of lemonade it was way back in the early '80s, but it tasted good -- more like real lemonade. And then it became lemon water. Ick.

I remember as a small child getting some beef jerky over there. It was the first time I had it and I loved it. It was in the fort which is closed to guests now.
