I know there is a reason I shouldn't do this

Yesterday, I self cleaned my electric range, but accidentally left a pan (aluminum jelly roll pan) in the oven while it was cleaning. It came out shining!! There were some stains on it that I could not get out with steel wool pads which evaporated in the cleaning cycle.

I am now tempted to do this to all my cookie sheets and cake pans, but it seems too easy. Anyone know of a good reason I shouldn't do this (besides the fact that nothing in housekeeping should be easy)?

I dont see why not - Possibly you might not get as many years out of it, by doing so.... but who wants nasty, stained sheets for years?

I say - do it! And thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

Just make sure that the pots/pans/sheets, etc. that you put into the oven are made to withstand the temperature that the oven gets up to when it's in self cleaning mode.

don't do this with non-stick coating.
