...are there any rides that I should NOT bring my 1 yr old on? He's having his first birthday at WDW. For instance... the teacups? or Haunted Mansion? or Pirates? We're going to all four parks. I don't plan on taking him on Stitch or Bug's Life or anything loud or scary. Anyone have any experiences or advice they can share? THANKS!

Definitely do NOT take him on Snow White's Scary Adventures. This ruined DD who was 2 at the time. We could not get her to ride anything for 2 days after that. Surprisingly, she was a little afraid of the Winnie the Pooh ride too. There is a "storm" with wind and all in there and it freaked her out. She is 4 going on 5 and she still would not ride either one on our trip this past October. POC was a little too much for her when she was smaller, but she absolutely loves it now.

Depends on your child. Mine is fearless and loved everything at one years old. Of course her favorite ride since she was 3/4 is TOT. Start out with the calmest ones like Small World and see how they react. Do loud noises and darkness bother them now?

It all depends on the kid and what they are used to. We have gone through phases where a ride is great one time and they are scared to death the next time. It makes it a little difficult to plan but we try to go with what they seem willing to do at the time.

Thanks for the insight. DS is sometimes fearless and sometimes a scaredy cat. If he's overdue for a nap, he'll tend to be more afraid and cry easier. I plan to keep to our schedule here at home. I certainly WON'T overdue it like I see so many parents do.

He doesn't like me to "put" him on anything. Like at the zoo, if I put him down next to a statue or on top of a car or something. He gets a little nervous on the carousel also. However, he was in my lap on the ferris wheel and he loved it! I think he does better if he's in my arms which, luckily, is how every situation will be at WDW.

He's very cautious for his age. Other babies his age just flop around in the swing and laugh alot, but he holds on for dear life and only lets a smile slip out once in awhile. But he cries when I take him off.

I guess I'll have to start simple and see how he does. Thanks again.

If your lil angel is afraid of the dark, plan on him sitting out for most rides. I seem to remember all of the indoor rides being at least somewhat dark, or maybe Im just a little  this morn. It has been 6 years...

I would not go on Haunted Mansion.
We took our two year old son and believe it or not, the ride got stuck.
It was so loud too that we had to hold our hands over his ears and he buried his face in my shirt. We sat in the same spot for about 10 minutes before it moved again.
This was a couple years ago and he has not been on it since.

My nephew did all the dark rides at Disney when he was 1 and had no problems, except for Imagination! at Epcot. That ride scard him and he screamed and screamed. There is a dark area where a train noise gets really loud and I think Dr. Channing was too scarry for him.

Stitch has a height requirement anyway so he couldn't have gone on that.

Snow White, Haunted Mansion, & Pirates are iffy rides if he gets scared easily. you could always do a test run on one and see how it goes (probably Snow White since its the shortest and you don't seem to get stuck like on the other two).
